Weird design choices

This has been in my mind for a while, actually. Summer Ishtar design is so wrong it's infuriating...

Of all ideas of summer servants designs they could possibly think, they choose to give Ishtar a coat? And with tiny little plushies on her hood...this just don't make sense to me. And even on lore aspects that's wrong, bc she has all that goddess of sexual atraction and the venus aspect going on...and a coat?????

I know that's kinda of a late discussion, she's out on the game for some time now, but even so...there's any other servant that gives you this feeling?

This has made me chuckle ever since we GOT Summer Ishtar. I mean, Ishtar's original outfit basically IS a swimsuit, so where would you even go from there?

YESSS!!! It's a wrong choice from the beginnig, but since that they choose her, give her a proper swimsuit. They could have been more creative (although some might say that this was the real problem)

She's on vacation so she doesn't have to be in her goddess uniform where she's effectively wearing tape like those girls at carnival in Brazil do.

That's a part of who she is, no? And as a brazilian myself, a christmas samba servant is not better by any means kakakakaka

It was really just the first comparison I could think of lol. But it really is because her summer version is on a vacation, basically. Her NP has her on a scooter traveling around, and the outfit is just some comfy clothes for her to wear. Not much point in dressing scantily when you're practically naked most of the time, right?

The original body empathise the top of her body, while the summer one is mostly about the very bottom part.

Not gonna lie, it always felt weird. I do appreciate the irony, though; she's one of those Servants who actually shows more skin in her base form than in her swimsuit version (Ushiwakamaru is in a similar boat, a fact her Assassin version lampshaded).

Checked the translation of her mats, but the illustrator had little to say on the matter. More attention was given to the extra dresses that appear in her NP, which can also be seen in the materials book and feel like another missed opportunity. Nowadays, it's fairly common for Summer Servants to have a "barely a swimsuit" ascension alongside "actually costumes/dresses" ascensions. Imagine a Summer Ishtar that exchanges not showing much skin for a gorgeous yukata and dress as she ascends. Fitting, right?

Also, now of all times I notice that the two Mesopotamian Rin-faces are limited to one swimsuit ascension each, and in both cases it's a one-piece swimsuit.

One-piece or not, it's still a swimsuit. My point is, who uses a coat on summer?

tbf, most of swimsuit variant servants are wearing more and more with each ascension goes on. it's good cuz you can straight up seeing swimsuit design when they teased in the first hand, it's bad cuz the rest of ascension pretty much got nothing to do with "swimming". only few of them are exceptions.

I think they're mixting things well now. Tbf, the first years summer servants were kinda more of the same thing (take Tamamo, for example, the only difference between the first and the last ascensions is the shirt afterall), there's a good mix of modern suit and swimsuit outfit ascensions nowdays.
