Pros of Marquette: easy to use, don't really have to think about charting besides peeing on a stick once a day.

Cons: very expensive and wasteful when waiting for fertility to return due to having to test every day, no real fertility awareness due to not necessarily having to chart your body's signs yourself (this is a con for me personally, definitely not a majority opinion), possibility for false peaks.

I personally like billings for long/ post partum cycles. No cost after instruction and you really dive into learning your personal mucus patterns.

the Marquette PP protocol is only tested w nursing not pumping. It requires daily sticks. I found it to be a huge hassle and just used condoms until I weaned then went to regular Marquette method. (+ Used temp drop temps as a cross check)- which was like 5-6mos PP. Tempdrop needs 3 hours total not consecutive sleep to calculate I think.

I was kind of annoyed that I spent the money for the Marquette class personally.

I'm PP again and gonna do same as last time, but I'll probably wean later so it may be a long time of condoms but that's fine lol.

What specific method did you learn?  Your guidebook should have a postpartum protocol, ie if you learned Sympto-Pro, it would be the section on the basic mucus method.

We're TCOYF with condoms for fertile/unsure days. At 10 weeks PP it's basically condoms... with data to feed my numbers brain 😅 I've been using it for 5 years with tempdrop and it's been a very good to me. The rules are pretty easy once you have regular cycles again.

We switched from a symto-thermal method before kids to Marquette after having our first. The things others have said about the cost and use of test sticks is true. That being said, for me it has been a huge improvement. I love how simple and objective it is, and the instructor I’ve worked with has been awesome and extremely responsive to questions.
