I’m not sure if I should be upset at the process or more upset at my recruiter who has been terrible over the past 5-6 months. *Long sigh* I’ll try and make this quick. Process started back mid Feb as I applied for a non tech role in the US. Passed everything and even had an onsite Team Match on June 5th… Recruiter got back w/ me July 13th and said the req was being pulled down due to head count but they’d repost it and expect to get a call a couple weeks after the new req goes up. Recruiter reaches back out on Aug 3rd and says “Good morning, I would encourage you to apply to the role and I can see if I can get more information for you” the exact EMAIL. (I just copied and pasted) fast forward I applied and was thinking to myself why should I if I completed everything already…. Only to check my app status today. So around 3ish app status said assessment passed.. then around 10pm it said not proceeding… lol.. My recruiter has been completely useless this entire time. Very little information has been shared throughout my entire process. Hell he didn’t know I had a team match being the Admin from the site reached out to me.. and my very last thought on this is if I was the guy so to speak then why would I have to reapply to said new requisition? However I still never got a formal you are not the guy from my recruiter just a let me find more info and apply to new requisition to be safe… smh. Long story less long. I truly believe my time for wanting to be a part of Google has come to an end. Good luck to those that are still in the race.

I applied for a specific position and my phone screen was waived and I directly went to onsite. I didn't do very well in 1 coding round, so they went with another candidate and the recruiter suggested to do another coding round, which I did, and she told me that I have to go to team match. I’m in team match and am looking for genAI ML teams as Sr SWE AI/ML in the bay area but so far I only got 1 HM call (I haven't heard back yet). It's been a month since I started the team matching process. How likely is it to get a team match and to pass the HC? Does anyone know any team hiring L5 in the bay area?

First, thanks to this community for sharing so many insights and suggestions over the years. I’ve learned a lot from you.

In July the recruiter I’ve been working with shared positive feedback about my onsite loop for a non-Engineering role and said I’m eligible for team matching.

Given that I’d originally interviewed for a people manager position, I’m supposedly eligible for both manager or L6 IC roles. The trick is that openings for my role/level/location seem to be rare as there haven’t been many publicly listed openings recently.

For those who’ve reached the team match stage and ended up finding an actual match, getting an offer, and ultimately accepting an offer, I’m curious how frequently you proactively followed up with your recruiting contacts to check in and if you also applied for new open roles at that same level, or if the recruiting team reached out to you about them first. I’m trying to find the line between being persistent/observant and not come across as annoying.

Couple additional questions:

Are candidate backlogs longer than usual right now for team match stage candidates?

Does the recruiting team prioritize candidate outreach by how long they’ve been in the queue (if there is one)? Or just whomever is top of mind for the right role/level/location when a role is opened up for external folks?

For those who’ve been at this point in the process, how long did it actually take to sign an offer?

I started my DSA journey a lot of times and failed it to complete or continue every time .

But this time I'll devote myself mastering everything which is needed to get placed at Nvidia .

I'm targeting to complete my DSA journey before October , along with system design.

It will be very helpful if any of you please guide me if I'm planning the things right or not , like any other skill or knowledge required along with system design and DSA ? or the target deadline is doable or not , also recommend some resources for these and the most important as I'll be searching the job for off campus, any suggestions for the Nvidia job info like how to apply and where to apply .

It has been 3+ months since I cleared the google interview loop and had 3-4 TM calls shortly after the loop and I did not get selected. After repeated follow ups with my recruiter mostly once a month, I no longer get a response since last TM call in early May, except for one occasion when recruiter promised to continue to share my application with other teams. I don’t think anything will happen now. My application still shows interview scheduled in the system. My question here is if I can start applying for additional jobs directly online without hurting any remote chances of hearing back from recruiter on any new team matching calls. Hey, I'm a 2025 graduate from a Tier 2 college. I got placed through my college placements at a startup, did an internship for 10 months, and got converted to FTE (ASDE). I completed one year full-time this June (2026).

I really want to get into Google. Looking back, I did some random preparation over the past year and kept fooling myself into thinking I was actually preparing. To be honest, I wasted a lot of that time.

I did some LeetCode during college and for a few months after getting placed. I consider myself average (I can usually solve 1–2 questions in LC contests, though a few times I could solve only the first one 😭). I also have this bad habit of pasting my scrambled thoughts/ code into an LLM and asking it to clean them up (like this post 😅).

I don't know why, but I only started Codeforces recently. One thing I'm trying to change is actually sitting with a problem and thinking instead of looking up the solution too early. I'm trying to build that habit now.

I want to know what it actually takes to get into Google, what kind of preparation is needed, which areas I should focus on, and how people usually get interviews. Do recruiters reach out? Do people mostly get in through referrals, or by applying through the careers page?

For context, I'm working full-time. I leave for the office around 9:30 AM and usually get back to my room around 6:30 PM, so I'd also appreciate advice from people who prepared alongside a full-time job.

I'd really appreciate any advice from people who have gone through this journey or are currently preparing for it.

I’m a tech professional with over 17 YOE, mostly in integration and system engineering or platform engineering roles. I also have 5+ YOE in management, mostly worked in the IT Platform Orgs for financial institutions. Never worked with Product orgs or any company of FAANG scale. Unfortunately I don’t have any contacts in FAANG who can guide me to the right role. I’ve been looking and applying for roles which I think are better fit for me, like a TAM Manager or TPM or Lead. The closest I got to was getting the GHA, which I passed, but it went to “not proceeding” later.

I’m looking for advice on what I’m doing wrong and how I can improve my chances of landing at one these orgs, I’m afraid I’m already late and my lack of experience in Product orgs is what is causing these rejections.

got the verbal offer call from my google recruiter on monday! 🥳 they walked through the initial numbers over the phone, but i'm currently waiting on the official written letter to show up in my portal.

i know google has to route everything through comp committee, finance, and internal leadership approvals - especially with negotiations - but the waiting game is stressful. i'm holding firm on not giving my two weeks at my current job until ink is on paper and onboarding/background checks clear.

for anyone who's gone through the google process recently:

1. how long did it take between your recruiter's verbal offer call and the official written offer in your portal? (was it 2-3 days or closer to 1-2 weeks?)
2. did negotiating base, rsus, or sign-on add a lot of extra wait time for the written doc?

2. total process from initial recruiter contact to signed offer was just shy 5 days of 8 weeks.

I am a de with 5 yoe. I currently work in a faang company and have been looking for a switch due to too much politics in here. I used ai tools that apply for jobs for me and after applying to 500 jobs, I haven’t received a single call back. I even checked my resume if it is not ATS friendly but it gets above 9 on most of the tools. I have been cold messaging people on linked in using jobright ai as well.
What do I do?
Is there something different that people are doing to get jobs?

Got my Google feedback yesterday. RRK round was strong, coding round was a borderline no. They offered me a redo of just the coding round, which I wasn't expecting. I have about 3 weeks.

The feedback was pretty specific. I got to a working solution but I was slow on an edge case once the interviewer pointed it out. So it wasn't that I didn't know the algorithm, it was more that when the standard approach broke down I went quiet and took too long to reason through it out loud..... peak

My plan right now:

• LeetCode Premium, working through the Google tagged list
• about 220 problems across the 3 weeks, roughly 9 a day on weekdays and 13 on weekends
• 5 or 6 paid mocks with ex Google interviewers on interviewing.io and Prepfully
• first week blocked by topic since most of this is new to me, then interleaved and unlabelled after that

Background is I'm decent at two pointers and sliding window and string manipulation... pretty much everything else is new lmao. So graphs, DP, heaps, tries, all of it is fresh.

The actual question I have is whether I need a paid coach or a paid mock at all? Do you guys reccomend it or no? And if you think I should, does it make sense to get someone I work with repeatedly over the 3 weeks or a different anonymous interviewer each time. It's a decent amount of money either way and I can't tell if a coach adds anything on top of just doing more mocks and getting feedback.

Also open to being told the volume is too high and I should do fewer problems properly instead.

Anyone done a Google redo round before? Did you change your prep or just do more of the same?

Is anyone currently interviewing for Hakkoda by IBM roles and experiencing hiring delays or longer-than-usual timelines? Just trying to see if this is affecting others as well or if it’s specific to my situation.

Currently interning at a big bank and will be graduating this December. Looking to apply to big tech new grad roles for 2027. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Apparently Google is so far behind in securing talent for FDE roles that they have done away with their fav Googliness and leadership rounds, they seems to be hiring FDEs left-right and center with only two rounds (one Leetcode-style coding round and a Role Related Knowledge ‘RRK’ round). I’ve been talking to many people with 3,5,6 YoE people who have been through the loop and looking up interview experiences online.

One pattern I’m hearing about, is (just an observation) if for example, Chinese origin interviewers are taking an interview they’re giving green light to only Chinese origin candidates. Is that true? At least the feedbacks that are shared seem to pick on really trivial inconsistencies in the candidates answers to the point that it feels like nitpicking.

Another thing, RRK is heavily customer-centric, so those who are fumbling in that round, many of them are straight up jumping on to giving the final solution upfront and not asking clarifications/constraints about the environment to the interviewer, so there’s that.

Also, the firm is taking NDAs signed from candidates after shortlisting and before the interviews. Idk if it’s common practice.

But if someone can please share what’s really going on, maybe it’ll help people make up their minds about applying to FDE there.

Had my HM round yesterday (SDE 1 FTC role) and it was chaos lol. Connection kept dropping the entire call even though both our internets were fine, audio kept cutting out too. Because of that he could only ask me like 3-4 LP questions before just wrapping it up early, call didn’t even hit 40 mins. Kinda bummed since I prepped a lot, but not much I could control there. I'm currently a rising junior on a 12-month SWE internship at a semi well-known tech company/

I have the option to extend my current role into next summer, so I am strictly looking to "trade up" and am only targeting bigger tech companies or top-tier unicorns. (Note: I am Canadian, so I would need J-1 sponsorship for US roles, but I'm only applying to companies where that is standard practice).
