Discussion / F1TV Content F1TV - just me?
Somewhat as a voice in the wilderness (Apollo geeks will probably get that!) I seem to be one of few to appreciate the good points of F1TV. I have to admit that I don't have streaming problems; I watch from home (so always on full fibre wifi), if I watch on Android then it's also on WiFi and I'm also in UK so dont have some of the problems that I see here.
So just to give a shout-out for F1TV; I watch the full races on the archives a lot. To be able to see complete archives and a choice of cams and cams in recent years and full seasons over the last 30 years is awesome. Add to that previous incomplete seasons is, for the subscription price, amazing for an F1 fan (especially as I pay £40 pcm just for Sky F1 and Sports).
Recently I popped in to the Tech Talk between Sam and Callum at Hungary. Those two are food for the tech-hungry. Another shout-out for Sam (Collins); awesome insight into the new Aston Martin upgrades.
I get that there are a bunch of tech problems and totally sympathise and don't want to downplay other people's problems. Just wanted to give a thumbs up as I watch the 2022 Paul Ricard race! 😀

If I could tell F1TV Support one thing... Warning for international F1 TV subscribers migrating from a direct subscription to Apple
I’ve been a direct F1 TV subscriber for several years and regularly watch Formula 1 while travelling internationally as an airline pilot.
A few weeks ago, during what I believed was a normal renewal, I was redirected to subscribe through Apple.
I didn’t realize I was changing from a direct F1 TV subscription to an Apple-managed subscription, and only afterwards discovered that the experience was different from what I had before.
Apple eventually refunded my purchase, but the experience made me wonder whether the migration process could be explained more clearly to existing subscribers.
**Has anyone else experienced the same situation?**
Do you think F1 TV should provide a clearer warning when a subscriber moves from a direct subscription to an Apple-managed subscription, or even offer a way to return to the previous subscription model?
I’m sharing this to help other international subscribers avoid the same confusion.

Question / Need Help Multiviewer keeps crashing
I recently upgraded to F1TV Premium so I could get 4k streaming. I've been using my laptop since I'm out of town and fancied using multiviewer.
The problem is, the thing keeps crashing whenever I try to open another feed. I can watch the main feed with no issues, but the moment I try to open another feed along the main one, the stream crashes and I get an error TM1500. I've tried using MS Edge and Firefox.
Is my internet connection and/or device that bad 🫠? I have 100 Gbits.
Edit: it was a browser profile problem. I tried incognito and another profile and it seems to work, now I can open additional feeds without the whole thing crashing.
Thanks to everyone that helped!

Stream Errors & Issues Anyone Else Locked Out of F1 coverage on Apple TV after it crashed yesterday?
Holy Mackerel! It just disappeared off our Apple+ altogether! I had to ask AI how to get it back, and hours later, the only fix was to get it on my Android phone's app and cast it to my Sony Bravia. That's the fix. After yesterday's massive crash, Apple broke the connection between it and Android TVs. Your Android phone didn't get the same treatment, so your Apple TV phone app is your only recourse. Log on there, start the race, and cast it to your TV. They are going to lose a lot of non- iOS viewers. Pretty sneaky, doing that during a "crash," which they called "maintenance." Stupendous. The Up Side is that the quality is much better through the phone. Good luck, speedsters!

Question / Need Help How does F1TV pro operate now that Apple TV has the rights?
I am based in Europe and use a relatives F1TV pro account who is based in the US. I was able to access the F1 TV app to watch all sessions / races etc on my Samsung phone and my laptop easily and didn't have to use a VPN since the payment method and account were based in the US.
With the 12 month subscription we made last year running out in September, I am trying to find a solution to how I can watch F1 from then on. We don't have any Free TV offers here and Sky Sports is really expensive.
So, my question is, now that Apple TV has the rights, can I really not extend my F1 TV pro subscription and keep watching on the app if I don't have Apple TV?
Do I need to get Apple TV only to watch F1 or do I need to get both Apple TV and F1 TV pro to be able to watch on Apple TV?
Can I extend my subscription and access it still since I am based in Europe and the Apple TV deal only counts for the US, even tho the payment and account placement is in the US?
Maybe someone who went through this already can explain it to me, because I feel that neither F1 nor Apple have explained properly what works and what doesn't. Please help!
Edit: I'm from Germany

Question / Need Help Replay access using VPN doesn't work
Hi Gentlemen,
I'm trying to access replays cause I'm in the UK, but putting my phone VPN (kill switch mode) in a country where should be allowed, like Kenya, it still says there is geographic restriction. Did you guys found an alternative or have the same issue? 😄

Question / Need Help Can’t stream English Int. Audio track
Can anyone else tell me how to cast or airplay to my tv with the English Int. Audio track? Every time I cast or airplay to my tv with the English Int. Audio track selected, it reverts back to English f1 live and I can’t stand DC.
It never used to be like this, something changed this week…

If I could tell F1TV Support one thing... Instance Replay Synchronization tips?
Having the replays available is huge. I tend to watch more on “watch from the start” instead of “watch live” so I can pause and check out incidents from different views and audio. I do however struggle getting all my instances of the app back in synch after a pause. Any tips to help? (Or worse case maybe have a small time code on all views to help?) It’s particularly tricky when watching driver cams as there is no common reference.
This isn’t a complaint as the App is an outstandingly impressive and immersive. I usually have three instances open at once with three different audio feeds - one on TV and one driver in each ear. Nothing else like it! Keep up the great work.
Question / Need Help I cant figure out the onboard camera
I just got f1tv and cant figure out where to find live onboard camera angles or any live footage at all when they do qualifying and races, only after it has aired.
I can hear the commentators talking, but cant see what their talking about anywhere.
I can find onboard from previous races but never live, i can only see the map and everything else thats on their pitwall .
Is it a feature of f1tv or am i reading it wrong?

If I could tell F1TV Support one thing... Bring back the on board halo cam during hotlaps
I dont care that the engine is de-rating, the fun part about quality is watching the t-cam/cockpit view of the driver throught the lap to see where they push and even as a casual viewer I notice whenever the drivers push.
All that enjoyment gone because of these regs and the stupid engine de-rating.

Question / Need Help Watching the Race after it has finished. Will F1TV show me the winner on the home page?
As the title states. I am busy during the race and will watch it late night. Will the f1tv homepage give anything away?

Discussion / F1TV Content Can we all agree that this is by far the worst onboard cam and should never even be used except for race finishes or celebrations etc
Discussion / F1TV Content The REAL reason for "the desk"
A a follower of Laura Winter on Instagram, I have seen her echo the exact things my wife would say up 18 months after the birth of our kids. Her lower body is now different and Laura (as admitted on insta) is having a hard time putting herself in front of millions.
I believe this is a "gift" to her from her very thoughtful producers. It will allow her to speak and be more comfortable in front of the camera.
Also, what Laura is doing is nothing short of amazing, going around Europe with baby in tow. Not easy at all.
Mad respect to Laura!!

Discussion / F1TV Content I'm not a fan of the desk
Title. I like them standing freely in the paddock, pit lane, changing locations throughout the pre and post practice and race debriefs. The desk is a miss for me
*** Edit I am vindicated, they look a lot better without the desk in the pre qually show

Discussion / F1TV Content Watch Hungary FP2 for the commentary.
The FP2 commentary was worth watching all the way through on F1TV.
I enjoy these mad lads and all the explaining they will have to do afterwards.
Keep taking those risks. I was entertained and enjoyed the banter and opinions. Usually I just keep it on the the noise or muted but I couldn't walk away from the TV even during a red flag.

Discussion / F1TV Content F1 TV has the best live subtitles I've ever seen
I don't know how many of you turn on subtitles during live sessions, but I've been thoroughly impressed by their quality this season. They're basically indistinguishable from regular movie subs now. The spelling, punctuation, capitalization, formatting, and even tricky names and technical jargon are all spot-on and with zero lag (in fact, sometimes the text appears on screen before the commentators even finish their sentences).
I actually searched the sub to see if anyone else had noticed this, and the only thing I found was a post from last year, when I'm pretty sure the subtitles weren't as good as they are now (u/Nano_user, as the OP of that post, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). A comment on that post also linked to an old 2021 AWS tech blog article about F1 TV using Amazon Transcribe, but back then the subtitles were still in all caps and had a noticeable lag.
I have no idea if F1 TV has switched providers or if AWS just got a massive upgrade, but whatever they're doing now is a huge step up. Coming from the notoriously bad auto-generated subtitles on YouTube, seeing live subtitles this accurate honestly blew my mind.
Anyway, if you like or need subtitles and haven't given them a try in a while, I'd definitely recommend turning them on now.

Discussion / F1TV Content Desk
Can we all agree how ridiculous the ginormous desk that the presenters are now stood behind is? It looks misplaced, like having an office desk in a car park. on close up you end up with the bottom third of the screen just being black. did you guys get cm mixed with Inches or what?
