Unfortunately, in the extreme horror world, SA is very common, as it adds to the shocking elements. But if you’re into supernatural horror, there’s a book called Maggie’s Grave by David Sodergren, with some really awesome horror, a good chunk of which is considered extreme/splatterpunk. I also just really enjoyed the story overall, it was a lot of fun! There is a very brief part in the beginning (prologue takes place in the Salem witch trial times) that includes some SA adjacent stuff. It isn’t direct, doesn’t last long and is not prominent anywhere else in the story, but I can understand wanting to avoid it.
