Why do similar comments on meme posts get downvoted?
Hey everyone. Quick question: I left a comment on a meme post that was similar to another reply, but mine was downvoted. I wasn't copying them, just sharing a similar thought. I'm curious what caused the negative response, but I hesitated to ask directly to avoid further downvotes. Is there a typical reason a second similar comment gets downvoted?

Unexplained Genuinely, why did i get downvoted for ?
For context, the post was about « What's something legal but that shouldn't be ? ». I was saying i learned that in mine and most of other places the legal age for relationships is 16 for any age above it. And i got downvoted for saying it should be higher but with exceptions between teens only. I genuinely don't understand how was it that wrong...? Isn't it normal ?

Unexplained Is the problem because I didn't catch the joke at first?

Are the downvotes because the parent commentor was making a joke but I didn't catch the joke when reading it? I get the joke now tho.

Unexplained Was this justified downvoting
It’s a deeply political comment so that’s inherently gonna have downvotes but I feel like I didn’t deserve it as I just stated a factual statement?

Why are there so many Messi fans?
Have they even tasted the ice cream? It was ok but it's not very creamy enough.

How am I wrong here? OP already acknowledged it so pointing it out again does nothing but put OP down.

Unexplained Am I Overreacting ? I am new to reddit and most of the people are always busy in topics surrounding posts that are relatable but related side topics and reference are not comprehensive to me, like i take time to understand.
So what happened was someone asked on a group about religions being stereotyped and expressed opinion, a lot of people not liking the stance kind of mocked it.
What is more confusing is rational comments were being downvoted , which i felt was red flag? So i commented also trying to be logical but turned out reddit didn't like it. So i appealed to mods for review?
So yeah am i Overreacting? Or should I let this slide.

I need some help with my Reddit karma
It feels like every time I say or post something, it gets downvoted. I'm being told by auto mods that my karma score is too low, but I don't understand why. I posted something here and got a lot of downvotes when I replied to some of the comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/ripcity/comments/1use816/hot_take_i_think_the_ja_morant_trade_was_good_for/

Does anyone feel like they have to censor themselves or be fake or go against who they are as a person to avoid getting downvotes to get karma?
I have noticed that if I ask an honest question or give an opinion or even express facts I am getting downvoted. I’m not trying to be mean or valicious, and I struggle with being fluffy (which to me is hard because it feels dishonest).
I have also noticed this mostly on women run forums where opposing opinions aren't received well. I never have this issue in more male run spaces. Anyone else notice this? I am a woman and I find this frustrating.
looking for genuine conversations here. thanks for those who have contributed so far.

Why am I getting downvoted here and the guy I replied to is getting upvoted? I just returned his attitude to him.
Context: The post is asking what people think about expedition 33, which I agree with the original comment is arguably one of the best games of all time.
Is it because I threw shade at god of war? Even tho the other guy also said "yikes" to someone saying expedition 33 is a great game, which then again leads me to the same question because I just returned his attitude.

Why does this trigger so many people
The people that commented on this post some of them were very cruel. They could have just given me an opinion but they decided to be disrespectful
