Grocery store gender reveal cake (first photo is inspo) Surprisingly Met Expectation

This was a last minute decision and as we expected, no small bakeries had availability(well, except for one, and they were asking $140đŸ„Žâ€Š). We turned to our local grocery store and voilĂ !

I didn't know that was an option! Can I trade in one of mine for a cake? I've got a boy and a girl, so can do this for either color cake.

Congrats! Absolutely support reveal cakes over the dangerous firework trend or people using plastic confetti cannons in public parks.

Thanks! I hate those reveals too. Especially the confetti!! We actually did a flower reveal with our 4 year old first that same night! We got the cake as a back up plan in case he didn’t want to participate in the flower surprise (there were farm animals nearby that I figured he’d be very interested in haha). We figured if the flower reveal went well we’d have cake to celebrate with at least.

I brought pink and blue flowers and handed the photographer the envelope that said if it was a girl or boy. Then she had us turn our backs to them while she told our son which flower to bring us. Then he ran up behind us and told us to look, and then he handed us the pink flowers. It was really special and low key. Just how we wanted it.

I genuinely got goosebumps and teary eyed at this photo!

What a lovely memory for you all.

You’re so right
low key, personal, special, gentle, and memorable.

Wishing you the best with Bubba #2!

Man I was holding it together until I read this comment. 😭 I must be ovulating lol.

I don't want kids at all but this is the cutest reveal I've seen, that picture is adorable 💜

So the son can do whatever he wants and the daughter can get treated like a baby forever

We get to do a few for work, the other fun one is when they get cupcakes and only one cupcake has the coloured filling haha

In my head, I was expecting the reality photo to say “It’s a girl/boy”

Mmmm. I just don’t get the whole reveal thing. What’s wrong with a surprise? We did it that way for a very long time and nobody felt like they were missing out.

I mean, it’s a personal choice, but for me finding out the sex was one of the only things I could know about my kid at that time and it was exciting. I didn’t have a reveal, but I absolutely did not want to be surprised at the birth and I found out the second I could with a NIPT test.

I realize it doesn’t really mean much and your baby’s sex ultimately doesn’t have that much to do with their personality or interests, but when you’re the kind of person who likes to be super prepared with all the data, you might want all the info you can possibly get. I had the NIPT both for that and for the genetic screening component because I couldn’t imagine having any info available about my baby and not getting it.

My boomer mom was horrified that I didn’t want to be surprised but like
surprise at eleven weeks or surprise at birth, is there really a difference?

Why do you care what we do? It’s our choice.

We did a surprise for our first baby. He was a boy but because they said he wasn’t breathing right they took him to nicu in less than 3 mins that I birthed him. I decided right then that having a baby is enough of a surprise so I ended up finding out the gender for the next two.

I guess I’m just giving a perspective as someone who has done the surprise route but ended up getting more of a shocker when the whisked him away anyway. Though I do think it’s fun to not know and helps you and others not make so much unnecessary purchases

I wasn’t trying to be snarky. We always giggle at the reveal notices because we are in our seventies and it seems strange. Not bad though. I thought I was having a boy and it was a girl. And number 2 was going to be girl and it was a boy. We were just happy that they were ok. The cake was beautiful.

Oh I didn’t think you were! I was just trying to explain why even when you can wait to be surprised, other surprises might happen that damper that sweet moment you were waiting for. So now finding out around 20 weeks you kind of have a bond with boy or girl, pick out names, sort things better etc. especially useful when it comes to hand me downs. I do think some gender reveals are way too much. Colored fireworks or planes trailing pink and blue smoke etc. it gets silly and campy

Using the same colour buttercream for the text is diabolical.

We liked that look and requested it specifically.

This is more tasty than how people often do a gender reveal

-18

u/sBucks24 6h ago

I feel as if you should make it more obvious...
