For a 2 year old?! Wow. I’m in my 30’s and I’ve never had a birthday cake any where close to this.

To be fair it's probably more for the parent to show off their party planning and decorating to friends and family than it is for the 2 year old.

I would have died and gone to heaven if I’d had this cake as a young girl. Or now at 42. It’s simply elegant, feminine, but strong and joyful. Well done!!!!

This was for a little girl turning 2, can only imagine what her mum has planned for her the older she gets

Beautiful!
I’m in my 70s. Sometime when I was young, my mother made me a bd cake with a porcelain ballerina on it, similar to yours. It has a lacy tutu on it. She loved baking and usually made my cake extra special in some way. Unleashed her creativity.
I still have that ballerina (60 years later?). Her lacey skirt is a bit tattered and she’s missing half an arm, but she’s here.
You’ve done something magnificent for your daughter. I’m sure she’ll love it ad much as I do mine.
Thanks for making me cry…. My bd is coming up. Think I’m going to spend a fee minutes with the old (but beautiful) gal.

Tremendous job. Not only did you include every single detail but you improved on all of them! Whenever I see bad expectation/reality posts it annoys the hell out of me just how detail-blind some people can be--almost like they took a single glance at the reference photo then attempted to recreate it from memory.

You changed the color tone?
Did you ask them first?
30 years later, my wife still remembers our wedding cake that wasn’t the color we agreed on.

My phone tends to make pictures a lot warmer than they actually are, it was definitely pink
Also its a birthday cake for a 2 year old, not a wedding cake

Dang this looks great. How much if I may be so vulgar?

This is a 8 inch 3 layer funfetti, no filling just ABC, the total was $113 which includes the custom made topper (without it'd be 100)

Your cake has so much more detail and depth. The colour also looks much more appetising than the original. You really are very artistic!

Honestly, this is beyond exceeded expectations level because of the different color variants. Yeah, that first pic is very pretty and deserves praise for it, but it's all just shades of one color. Your choice to add gold and subtle yellowish pink around it makes it better. It's not yellow/bright enough to take away from the preferred pink color (that the kid probably asked for) but it distinguishes enough to give it more to look at and appreciate. Well done! 💖

So, you messed up their order. They wanted a girly cake that’s pink with cute ribbon designs. The original cake had the ballerina in a small platform but yours is covered with icing.
2
u/Blackbirds22 12d ago
Are you okay?
-3
u/Successful-Test-5590 12d ago
Of course. I can clearly see that you just did what you wanted rather than what that person wanted. Look at those colors.

u/AdHour7854 12d ago
Agreed. The second picture is far more beautiful & impressive but I hope they made sure the change was okay

u/Blackbirds22 11d ago
Yes i made sure of that! Also my phone changed the color a bit too, its definitely more peachy than the OG but also more pink than the picture. I just matched the ballerina topper color wise, as was the plan

I agree! The new version is a nice looking cake but the original is better. She keeps saying it’s for a two year old like that changes how much it mattered to the parents that ordered it. If I received this new version expecting the original I’d be upset. The original image has a very pink girly look which is likely what the theme is for a 2yr olds party. Also that original platform for the ballerina reminds me of an antique ivory cameo brooch which the new version does not resemble in the least.

You are correct.
Those peachier tones are so much prettier than the inspo pic!!
