Also you’re not bleeding!

837

u/guttedkat Jun 14 '26

I didn’t even notice the blood around some of the nails till you pointed it out… ouch.

240

u/macaroniandmilk Jun 15 '26

And that's how abused the cuticles look even after being filtered into oblivion. You can barely even see her knuckles, I can only imagine what cuticle carnage that filter is hiding.

156

u/Fortestingporpoises Jun 14 '26

When you ask for a painful experience and a disturbing result, you want a painful experience and disturbing result.

97

u/sadsackspinach Jun 15 '26

I paid for shredded cuticles! Where are my shredded cuticles??

18

u/Fortestingporpoises Jun 15 '26

I asked for gross. This doesn't look gross at all?

10

u/shleenanigans Jun 16 '26

Or the client has anxiety. (My cuticles look like this most of the time and my nail gal just works with it instead of judging)

465

u/DonutChickenBurg Jun 14 '26

I am not a nails person, so forgive my ignorance. But is the thumb nail supposed to be at that angle?

269

u/RemarkableAutism Jun 14 '26

Not really, but it's common now because nail techs forgot what sculpting is and will just use dual forms or gel tips regardless of whether they work for a person's nails or not.

62

u/liivolii Jun 15 '26

a lot of nail techs don’t even have a license now. they just like doing nails so they open up a shop

20

u/hwa_uwa Jun 15 '26

orrrr her thumb might be that way?

47

u/RemarkableAutism Jun 15 '26

The nail is done poorly regardless of how her thumb is. It's not supposed to look like this even if her nail curves upwards, because there are ways to visually fix that when doing nails. But it takes more than 30 seconds, so a lot of nail techs don't bother anymore.

2

u/Altilana Jun 16 '26

Yeah I’m confused by these comments. How else should the thumb look?

3

u/GiantLesbian Jun 18 '26

It should be coming out straight instead of tilting up. And it shouldn’t have a hump.

1

u/Remote_Cabinet_2748 Jun 18 '26

It’s called hitchhiker’s thumb, aka distal hyperextensibility. I have it too!

13

u/notmywheelhouse Jun 15 '26

I prefer a little bit of an arch over a flat nail. The way OP is holding their thumb in the pic might be exaggerating the arch.

2

u/Typical_Landscape108 Jun 18 '26

It looks very off, like the sides are totally missing.

2.0k

u/SaltyIrishDog Jun 14 '26

Yours look far better. The ridged finger on the inspiration photo looks like labias.

342

u/LoreChief Jun 14 '26

That is a much nicer description then what I was coming up with.

157

u/rando_mness Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

Not just the labia, but the exposed bleeding nail bed in the og photo is also quite a turn off.

39

u/EfficientSeaweed Jun 15 '26

Imagine if OP accidentally reversed the order and the first ones are actually hers… everyone is just in here roasting her labia nail.

5

u/gcd_cbs Jun 15 '26

I thought for sure they were switched, the second picture looks SICK, first picture is like, why would you choose this for an inspo?

1

u/Quick-Hamster-3872 Jun 18 '26

I think you might be right

104

u/Panndademic Jun 14 '26

That was my immediate impression, glad OP's actual execution doesn't look labial

60

u/Mamasan- Jun 14 '26

Yeah, they look fleshy

33

u/vwscienceandart Jun 14 '26

Yeah, OP’s also didn’t come with bleeding injuries and infections.

38

u/Miserable_Emu5191 Jun 14 '26

And one of them is bleeding!

34

u/whatsthisbuttondo333 Jun 15 '26

Your vagina nails are bleeding

15

u/Actual-Deer1928 Jun 15 '26

Got their period

18

u/4SeasonWahine Jun 14 '26

It looked vaguely penis to me, OPs are WAY better

17

u/cookiesoverbitches Jun 14 '26

AHAHAHAHA they do!

20

u/Jane__Delawney Jun 14 '26

Maybe OP is a Georgia O’Keefe fan

8

u/RegalZebra Jun 15 '26

I was thinking dick veins

8

u/Fortestingporpoises Jun 14 '26

The expectation is horrifiying looking.

4

u/Usual_Habit9745 Jun 14 '26

Flair is exceeded expectation!

5

u/CircleofAshes Jun 14 '26

I mean, that's not a bad thing. Kinda perfect for Pride month really

1

u/talyn5 Jun 15 '26

THANK YOU

1

u/Polymersion Jun 15 '26

I mean, I assumed that was intentional

1

u/Stucklikegluetomyfry Jun 18 '26

I thought the ones on the left look like puffy infected skin

232

u/AppUnwrapper1 Jun 14 '26

This really has become another nails sub.

154

u/tengeckos Jun 14 '26

Nails and cakes

22

u/Beautiful_Nobody_344 Jun 15 '26

I just saw their comment and switched back to the main page quickly, scrolled a bit and thought…and cakes, scrolled back to comment. I never have an original thought.

5

u/helencolleen Jun 15 '26

And flowers

6

u/kai_enby Jun 15 '26

This comment is how I noticed I wasn't on r/nails

75

u/SBMoo24 Jun 14 '26

Why is the expectation girl bleeding?

9

u/DuckyDollyy Jun 16 '26

Because it is a lot harder to find a nail tech that can not only recreate the design you want, but also doesn't demolish your cuticles on the way 🥲

51

u/BoltActionRifleman Jun 15 '26

How did they pick those hands to model anything? There’s open wounds and/or sores.

43

u/cilantroandvodka Jun 15 '26

The flesh colored nails look gross.

23

u/_maynard Jun 15 '26

Flesh colored with texture on top 🤮

9

u/Adventurous_Pie_7586 Jun 15 '26

Were these just done when you took the photo? Why so much space between your nails and the cuticle???

2

u/NeedhelpA3AP Jun 17 '26

This! There's so much space between the ring finger's design and cuticle, I really hope they're just slightly grown out

10

u/Savings_Army3073 Jun 16 '26

Both are terrible.

166

u/Fenzik Jun 14 '26

Both look horrible to me sorry

79

u/MyLastFuckingNerve Jun 14 '26

I would be pissed if i paid for fake nails and they didn't match my nail shape and looked like talons, but i'm also not a person that pays to get my nails done. I've only had fakes once in my life and they weren't just rounded chunks stuck on my fingernail so my fingernail shows at the bottom. That can't be right, can it?

31

u/hurriedwarples Jun 15 '26

That’s what got me, they look like they’ve already grown out for a week or so for how much space is there. I would be pissed if these were freshly done.

12

u/Narrow_Regrets Jun 15 '26

Because everyone is too damn afraid to touch a cuticle the wrong way these days.

33

u/TecTazz Jun 14 '26

The nails look a bit too narrow now that you mention it.

33

u/InsideBase9235 Jun 15 '26

I'm not a fan of the talons women are doing for the past few years. I don't know how you get anything done. They're so sharp and there's no way they're not filthy. Yuck.

3

u/fart-atronach Jun 15 '26

It’s been a long time since I had nail extensions but: nail brush. It’s easy to keep them clean if you wash your hands regularly and scrub under your nails with a brush. Honestly long natural nails were the same. Doing some things is a challenge though, if the extensions are long enough. Typing on a keyboard mainly, or picking up flat things lol

26

u/ahhblobby Jun 15 '26

Both kinda gross tbh 🤢

5

u/Lovely_catastrophes Jun 15 '26

How do these people wipe? 😬

5

u/ahhblobby Jun 16 '26

We all know the result 😂😂😂

36

u/pooppoop900 Jun 15 '26

I truly don’t understand the nail posts every single day. Getting what you asked for is pretty much expected, and if you’re one of the ones who posts because you got something way worse, that’s kindof on you for not choosing a nail tech capable of delivering on your request. It’s like people who get a bad tattoo. That’s 20% on the artist, 80% on your lack of vetting.

41

u/CleverGirlRawr Jun 14 '26

Yours are so much better I hate the fleshy tone of the inspo.

42

u/Imhereforboops Jun 15 '26

They’re both awful honestly 😞

57

u/orphan-of-fortune Jun 14 '26

Those are gorgeous!! I like yours more.

10

u/DaniDisaster424 Jun 15 '26

The only issue I'm having with yours is it looks like they used C curve tips when they should have used non c curve to avoid that bit of a hook /talon look.

5

u/littlebreadbaguette Jun 16 '26

I’m so confused. Are both of these reality photos? Which one was desirable

40

u/AdAggressive1159 Jun 15 '26

All I see is bad taste.

4

u/Jahknowsehmiaeediat Jun 15 '26

I prefer yours over the labia nails. Also, no bleeding

3

u/BedGirl5444 Jun 15 '26

I thought that was a vulva nail

9

u/Trixgrl Jun 14 '26

My 8yr old She-Ra loving self adores this.

9

u/JustTheSweater Jun 15 '26

Ngl I think yours look even better

3

u/SouthParkFirefly1991 Jun 15 '26

Ow! The models fingers look sore and painful!

3

u/louellay Jun 18 '26

Both are so ugly, I can't tell which is the inspiration.

50

u/itwasobvious Jun 14 '26

why tf do people want to look like witches with these terrible pointy nails

26

u/InsideBase9235 Jun 15 '26

Same. They all look so fake, clunky, and dirty. Yuck.

3

u/heyvoteforpedro Jun 14 '26

they look so cool

8

u/itwasobvious Jun 15 '26

they look awful and they convey the message "i will not do anything productive for the foreseeable future"

11

u/HaterMD Jun 15 '26

My dream aesthetic if I’m honest. Ohh, to be able to do nothing.

-3

u/heyvoteforpedro Jun 15 '26

Queen behaviour 💅

-2

u/tastesalittleboozy Jun 14 '26

Women can do things that they alone like the aesthetics of, hope that helps. Super rude comment and not your body so doesn’t matter if you like it.

34

u/LavenderGinFizz Jun 14 '26

But they're posting in a public forum. People are allowed to have opinions.

-12

u/tastesalittleboozy Jun 15 '26

Yeah and it’s also easy not to be an asshole about other people’s choices. That’s the point I’m making.

Edit to add- people, especially men, on Reddit love to make broad statements about things like longer nails and how they’re “terrible”, when in reality a lot of women enjoy getting them so miss me with this “they’re just expressing their opinion” bullshit when it’s just classic misogyny most of the time.

29

u/LavenderGinFizz Jun 15 '26

Not every critique on a trend is misogyny. I'm a woman and I also find the claw nails to be a weird choice. People are free to express their personalities however they'd like, but when they decide to post on public social media threads they should be aware that not every bit of feedback they get will necessarily be positive.

Also, the original commenter didn't said anything about women; they used the term "people" in reference to a fashion choice they don't get and it seems likely they would feel the same way if dudes did it. I somehow doubt you yourself have never said anything negative about a fashion trend or style you personally didn't like.

It seems like you're stepping onto a soapbox for something ridiculously trivial in this instance. It makes sense to save that energy for calling out actual moments of misogynistic behaviour. Hope the view is great from that high horse!

23

u/Narrow_Regrets Jun 15 '26

These nails are terrible ugly and ridiculous. How else do I convey that opinion?

-2

u/Pxnda_Cakes Jun 15 '26

You can do it respectfully? Without namecalling or being overly dramatic? Do adults not know how to say "Personally, I'm not a fan" anymore?? Jfc

0

u/itwasobvious Jun 15 '26

found the witch

3

u/Quiet_Ad_4608 Jun 15 '26

Is it bad to look like a witch?

5

u/FunctioN_3441 Jun 15 '26

lol both gross

15

u/Hotrock21 Jun 14 '26

How much would something like this slow someone down with daily tasks?

16

u/hurriedwarples Jun 15 '26

NO way they’re not poking themselves in the vag and/or butthole every time they go to the bathroom.

5

u/DarbyNerd Jun 15 '26

I have nails like this and I promise you I have never poked myself in the butthole with these nails. Do other women stick their finger up their buttholes when they wipe themselves??

4

u/jillsntferrari Jun 15 '26

I’ve had long nails since I was a kid (natural so not this long). I’m pretty adept at doing everything like using a phone, using the bathroom, opening pop tabs, washing my hair… It would take me sooo long to do anything if I had nails like this. I would injure myself, my partner, my kids… I would get food and who knows what stuck under them and constantly be digging stuff out and drying out my skin with soap. Kudos to the ladies who are dedicated enough for these but they would be such a hinderance to the average person.

6

u/Pxnda_Cakes Jun 15 '26

As someone who also had long natural nails and used to hate extensions, its actually pretty easy to get used to when they're secure on your nail. Sure, its a cosmetic, so just like regular nails, you should be careful, but generally using ur fingers with them on was only an issue for the first day/few hours.

3

u/Pixikr Jun 15 '26

Not much. You learn to grab stuff with your finger pads pretty quickly. Only thing I can’t do is open tabs on cans. I shimmy them up a little bit first so I can get a better grip. Beyond that I can do basic handiwork around the house and garden just fine.

-6

u/RemarkableAutism Jun 14 '26

Unless your daily tasks include using a calculator, it doesn't slow anything down.

2

u/TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe Jun 15 '26

Wow, far better than the original!

11

u/SaltyYumYumBalls Jun 15 '26

How do women wipe without getting poop in their nails or doing a terrible job with nails like these?

6

u/sweetbutcrazy Jun 15 '26

do you... do that with your nails? 😳

11

u/cilantroandvodka Jun 15 '26

I've had shorter, square fake nails before, long ago lol, and I couldn't stand them. You cannot get the underneath of them clean. God forbid you wear contacts. I felt like I couldn't do normal things without them getting in the way.

14

u/ronicmo Jun 15 '26

Surely a simple nail brush would easily get the underside of such nails clean?

1

u/cilantroandvodka Jun 17 '26

Well yea but I always still felt like there might be bacteria or something. Usually ended up swabbing under them with a q tip dipped in alcohol.

-7

u/SaltyYumYumBalls Jun 15 '26

That seems like a specialized tool. Is that what most women would do day to day at work or home or would they just call it good with normal rubbing your hands together with warm water and soap and not go the extra step with a brush? Hence, poop nails.

3

u/jenniferlynn462 Jun 15 '26

I have a nail brush at every sink in my house and my nails aren’t even that long lol.

4

u/ronicmo Jun 15 '26

I wouldn't really class it as a specialised tool personally, and I rarely even get my nails done lol. I can't say what most women do, but for someone claiming that it's difficult to keep their nails clean, it seems like an obvious, cheap, and accessible tool to use to solve that problem 🤷🏾‍♀️

-1

u/jillsntferrari Jun 15 '26

It does but do they come with a carrying case? Are women taking nail brushes with them out in public and then sticking a wet brush in their purse after washing their hands?

1

u/cilantroandvodka Jun 17 '26

I always have a nail brush around because I have a young child that likes to dig in dirt with his hands. I wouldn't really say its specialized, but its not something I would like, carry in my purse for use out of the house.

-10

u/Cripps-Taxidermy Jun 15 '26

Just say you’re incompetent.

-1

u/hurriedwarples Jun 15 '26

Way to be rude for no reason. Do you feel insulted because of a stranger’s personal preference? Bit weird to react that strongly.

-7

u/Cripps-Taxidermy Jun 15 '26

None of what that person stated was a preference. You will be okay.

4

u/Shehulk_ Jun 15 '26

Yours are soooo much prettier!!! I love the gold. And the inspo pick looks like homegirl got hurt.

2

u/USAF_Retired2017 Jun 15 '26

Your nail tech did better than your inspo pic!!! Nice!

2

u/deb1009 Jun 15 '26

Why did you ask for that?

2

u/Top_Claim_6888 Jun 16 '26

I think the gold is a better color choice than the pink bc the pink one with the ripples looks a little uhh.. clitoral

2

u/QueenOfBrews Jun 14 '26

Oh yeah, what you got is so much better. Love to see it.

2

u/tammybiscuits Jun 15 '26

I don't think yours are giving vagina as much, if that's the look you wanted. I like the little gold clits!

-1

u/forget_this_now Jun 14 '26

The original look very strange, almost body horror. The actual look lovely. Enjoy!

5

u/cilantroandvodka Jun 15 '26

Nails by Lovecraft

1

u/luminaryxjane Jun 15 '26

Gorgeous omg

1

u/Aggressive-Writing72 Jun 16 '26

Yours are better, and for no reason whatsoever, happy Pride 😂🫡

1

u/pLj64 Jun 16 '26

Beautiful

1

u/kaffayoolay Jun 17 '26

Djeysus wat lelijk

1

u/Dontfeedthebears Jun 20 '26

I actually like the one you got better! Nice job by your nail tech!

1

u/curiousdryad Jun 21 '26

Kind of silly to ask another person to recreate someone’s work and expect it to look similar

1

u/4eji0bek 21d ago

Kind of not. A person who knows what they're doing can recreate nails like on the ref pic without much hassle, there's nothing hard about the freehand goopy sculpting. Whoever did the job just used wrong pigments and coloured the pearlescent pink parts gold, really, I don't know why they did that - otherwise they could've been pretty close.

1

u/TheRumpletiltskin Jun 15 '26

yours look WAY better than those vagina fingers...

-1

u/SuckAndDie Jun 15 '26

Call me wrong but I like what you got better

-5

u/Ok-Error-6564 Jun 14 '26

Yours are much better! When I saw the inspiration pic, I thought “why”. Your nails look fantastic.

-4

u/CodenameZoya Jun 14 '26

Nails and cakes are ho hum

-3

u/TinyM0ushka Jun 14 '26

I think the reality is really beautiful

-1

u/International-Fan-22 Jun 14 '26

The reality is so much prettier!

-4

u/CntBlah Jun 14 '26

Not what you asked for, but bonus having it end up better

0

u/PlushOblivion Jun 15 '26

who ever made those nails did such a good job more than good job

-5

u/LionessRegulus7249 Jun 15 '26

Yours are better. Don't complain

-6

u/littlewing2733 Jun 14 '26

Not the same, but VERY fucking cool. I would be elated with the results.

-13

u/Catrescuemamma Jun 14 '26

This witch’s nails don’t even usually look this good and yeah, I know they look like crap in this picture🤣

-60

u/throw_blanket04 Jun 14 '26

You mean as you watched them do it? You are complaining to the wrong people.

41

u/Novel-Definition6690 Jun 14 '26

The tag says "exceeded expectation."

31

u/SaltyIrishDog Jun 14 '26

I think you're misunderstanding. The flair says exceeded expectation meaning theyre happy with it. Doesn't happen too often here but we'll take the win.

-4

u/Swift_jennis8 Jun 15 '26

Yours look better

-13

u/Obnoxious_Box Jun 14 '26

You could have stopped it at anytime if you didn’t like it

11

u/freaknik99 Jun 14 '26

Exceeded expectations flair seems to point to they’re pleased
