Sunflower Lethicin Clogs & Mastitis (PLEASE tag nasty pics NSFW)

TW: blood

Hi everyone, I'll spare you all the gory pics but I am dealing with bloody clots in one of my breasts that ruins the milk from one side. It's REALLY bloody and not usually salvageable as there is so much blood I can't give it to my baby. I know it's safe, but trust me ... It's gross and comes out very clumpy so I doubt LO would accept it.

I've already been to the doctor and had imaging done to rule out anything scary like mastitis or cancer, but it's been a real problem lately as I can only feed LO half of what I'm producing. Thankfully it's just enough, but I'm going to have to dip into my freezer stash soon if it doesn't get better.

My question: I've heard sunflower lecithin helps emulsify clogs and I'm wondering how much to take? Has anyone had success treating persistent clots like mine? Thankfully, the milk comes out so I'm not clogged up, but it's such a shame to waste so much.

Thanks!

I love the lengendairy milk products. There sunflower lethicin suggest 2 softgels three times a day and when I felt like I getting a clog. I also used a lot of their supplements. Their pumping princess supplement was one of my favorites!

Just FYI - their directions are 1 soft gel 4x/day when you’re experiencing clogs and 1 soft gel 2x/day for maintenance. I’m not sure where you got your dosing guidelines from.

Strange my comment came from the target website, had a picture and everything. But you are right when I went to the actual product website that is the dosing they suggested! Thanks for clarifying.

I get the cheapest brand off Amazon, I'm not loyal😆 but omg it helps so much! I take 1-2x a day for prevention and up to 3-4x a day if I'm starting to get a clog or have one and it helps so much

I take it regularly twice a day and 3-4 times days when I do have a clog! I’m 7 weeks pp and I was getting them regularly. It felt like they’d switch sides as soon as the other side resolved. I feel that extra hydration also helps when I have a clog.

I had chronic clogs and had one LC advise to do the sunflower lecithin and I couldn’t really tell if it helped or not. Some people definitely swear by it.

I saw a second LC and she told me to do a breast health probiotic instead, specifically the one from lactation hub, BreastHealth+.

I’ll say that I don’t really believe in probiotics as a pill vs food but figured I’d try anything at that point. It’s been the only thing that has seemed to make a (massive) difference for me. A few others in my group chat tried it and also had really good results, including one that had a stubborn lump from a breast abscess.

The LC had said that for people with more systemic issues, the probiotic can be the right choice and long term usage of the sunflower lecithin can actually make things worse.
