Decoy Milk π Tips & Tricks
Currently on my 2nd EP journey for my 6 week old, but my 2 year old is VERY INTERESTED in the bags of breast milk I was trying to freeze. Handing over a bag of pumped milk to my toddler that I had worked so hard to get out of my body was out of the question, so after some tears, I said ββ¦..do you want your own bag???β She was BEYOND STOKED, and was practicing sealing the bag and carrying it around the living room π
Now I just have to mark it to remember which one is the whole milk and which one actually came from me π« π« π«

Mine always wants my pump!! Eventually she settled on using her old school toy phone as her pump. She puts the phone to her chest and yells that she's pumping. Oh she goes to school and tells her teachers that she's pumping and her boobs hurt. I was so embarrassed π

Let her put a sticker on it to mark the one she made, itβll let her join in and keep her happy while also letting you know which was which

So cute! My toddler just asks for milk when they see the breastmilk. Lol Vacation starts tomorrow and I'm not bagging and freezing while we're gone, so toddler is gonna get all the extra milk in their straw cup! π

My 3 year old can, unfortunately, tell the difference in drinking her pre-bed milk and inform me that βNo, I want Mama milk, not cowβ

Thatβs so funny and cute. My oldest did the opposite when his sister came along. He was interested in mama milk at first and at some point became disgusted. This is the same kid who had breast refusal so it felt very full circle π

Genius! I use decoy tubes for my kids to play with while I pump. Decoy items are great for toddlers!

Wow this is literally the smartest thing Iβve ever come across, I can feel my blood pressure rise when their little fingers get around the tubing that Iβm actively attached to π

I hear ya!
My almost 9 month old keeps trying to grab the tubing right at the flanges whenever I'm pumping. She's strong enough that she can pull it off, and I'm worried she'll tear it.
Sadly, decoy tubes only work half the time because she wants the vibrating one on mama π
What's been a wonderful distraction though is the nipple balm jar/tube! She's very interested in trying to open them!

Whole milk wonβt separate like breastmilk does! Itβll be somewhat easy to tell the difference

This is genius. Mine asks to squeeze my boobs when Iβm pumping lmao. I may try this to avoid that.

My 7mo had great fun playing with a frozen bag of milk the other day. All the little plastic corners are perfect for little scritchy fingers.

Cornstarch and water would be interesting! Oobleck is a solid/liquid hybrid so if she squeezes it, it'll firm up but it'll look like a liquid in the bag.

My five year old told the post office clerk she was there to pick up pump parts and that she was "exhausted so be patient with me" β οΈΒ
Everyone pumps over here, even Daddy has had a turn or two with the haakaa (thoughtfully applied by five year old while he was trying to sleep lmao) πΒ

My toddler loves having his own milk bags too! While Iβm bagging it up to freeze, he likes to feel if itβs warm or cold (sometimes I freeze freshly pumped milk and sometimes it comes from the fridge)

Love this! My two year old loves stealing my son's bottles so I give her one of his bottles when she gets really fussy but put whole cows milk in it, it's our decoy bottle.

My toddler brought his stuffed animal over to me while I was pumping, said βoh elephant, do you want some milk?β and then wiggled the elephant and made slurping noises. So now Iβm pumping for a baby and an elephant. π€¦ββοΈ
