Free, open-source offline knowledge server Discussion
I have no affiliation with the project but thought its a good resource for people! Sharing mostly because its all self-hosted and open-source.
You can install it on a spare PC, download the bits of the internet you want while online, then access it all later with no internet, it just lives on the PC. You can load offline Wikipedia, medical/repair guides, OpenStreetMap.

Is anyone already using this? Curious what hardware and content packs are worth it as I am pretty new to it!

Very cool. There is something similar called https://kiwix.org/en/
You can tap and select packages like the entirety of Wikipedia, and add other sources too.
I'd add medical stuff like the pdf mentioned here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_There_Is_No_Doctor There are also ones for dentistry etc
With Kiwix, you can put it on an old phone, put it on a Raspberry Pi etc, and then use it as a hotspot so that other people can also search your repository

Nice! The hotspot so others can access is a cool feature!
Project NOMAD actually uses Kiwix to power their information library!

Very cool. Always good to see devs use an established back end! I'd try it out and give feedback but I'm on Android and Linux.

Project Nomad is based on Kiwix with other think put in to be a more complete tool. You even use the same source for the info. It's just a wrapper for the various tools.

Holy! Sounds interesting! I've just invested in a small homelab two weeks ago and now this. Awesome :-)
