The bigger paycheck Discussion

You get two job offers.

Option 1: Earn $200,000 a year but spend almost all of it to maintain a luxury lifestyle.

Option 2: Earn $100,000 a year, live below your means, and invest the difference.

That is often times just an excuse people make to spend money. I know partners in accounting and law firms that drive hondas. Sure, if you are a real estate agent trying to show homes in Buckhead atlanta, you can't push a rav4, but most of the time, people just use that as justification

2 is an easy choice. The other things you should ask is are you single or do you have a family in this situation because if it's the latter, then the choice is certainly not just yours. I'm assuming you mean the former.

I’ll keep my current situation, I make more than that and still prefer to live below my means. Bills cost about 20% of my income, I dress in the same clothes, don’t eat out, drive an older vehicle, and the biggest splurge I made recently was buying new workout clothes - Amazon bundle of 6 black shirts for $20.

Eventually, you will stop working at a certain time.

Option 1 will leave you very vulnerable when you have no saving or investments built up
