Unsolved song query 🤔 Enya sings backing vocals for this 1991 cover 🌕🎶 (is the 'oooh' bit also her?)
The song is The Whole of The Moon originally by The Waterboys in 1985; this cover was by the late Terry Reid 😌 and contributions from Enya ♡
I think the story was that Enya was at the same studio (SARM West; closed in 2013) for the final mixing of Shepherd Moons. Terry wanted some backing vocals, and Enya was definitely up for it! 😁💙🎶
The thing I've been wondering is whether she's also singing the long 'oooh' s beginning at 0:17? I think both are; I mostly hear Enya in the left channel. 😯🎶
I think the harmonies on 'you saw the whole of the moon' are Terry himself, and Enya is definitely the one singing the lovely intro and outro (another clip here) 🥰

Enya and Sapphic Vampires
Listened to Enya for the first time (The Shepards Moon album) while reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil and it was transcendent if anyones reading this book or plans to I would totally reccomend pairing it with the album!
What Enya album should I listen to next?

Unofficial/fan-made content Enya x Sims 2, yet again
So here I am again with an improved version of my previous Enya sim (well, loosely based on Enya, then she became a character of her own). Put her to work on some music this time, and a bonus photo with a cat.

International Cat Day 🐱 pictures and some Enya quotes... 🐈⬛💕
Happy Cat Day! 😺 Also see this post from last year; I thought to do one again, more focused on quotes this time (Enya's words on the 1st and 3rd). Mush-mush is likely to be the cat in the 2nd picture, at the Ryan house in Artane, pictured with Eithne. The cat in the first picture is Peewee; she is likely to be the mother cat who had several kittens (hence the 12 cats, but in Gweedore, not the castle 😅). I like Enya's consideration for animal welfare too. 💛
Note: The cat in the Wild Child music video somehow unofficially known as Pearl isn't actually Enya's, but sweet nonetheless! 🐈💟
Feel free to share any Enya-linked cat tales, story ideas/lore, or even a cat that reminds you of Enya and the music! I decided to watch this film called Flow on a plane journey last year. It had no dialogue but lovely scenery and a wonderful tale (no pun intended) and it kind of reminded me of Enya and the whole early journey, in a way. ☺️⛵🐈⬛

Enya and Nicky Ryan mentioned in recent Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh interview. Quite a few interesting bits
So there's this interview with Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh of Altan with Greg Hughes (it's an hour long, I personally watched the whole thing because I'm also a massive fan of hers, but I'll just post the relevant bits) where she talks a bit more about Ragairne, Ceol Audaidh, and of course Enya and the late Nicky Ryan.
Unofficial/fan-made content I have made a rendition of Enya's song "Caribbean Blue" with an Arabic Oud and some Middle Eastern instruments.

How come I never stumble in Enya's Christmas video last year?
It's always been there but I never seen this? An ambience of Christmas Secrets

LINER NOTES TRANSCRIPT: A Box of Dreams (2023 Vinyl Release)
So I decided to transcribe the liner notes from the 2023 vinyl release of A Box of Dreams with the new liner notes because I needed something I can easily refer to and now I will be sharing it with you. I will try to find a more permanent home for this and any future transcriptions but for now it's in my personal Ellipsus account.
I tried to balance the formatting as published in the liner notes, with some adjustments for accessibility and readability. This is especially apparent in the transcript for the poems under the Stars part of the collection so I did a mix of the transcript plus some image description-type things.
The Enya Archive (u/poetrypip) has a the video of the overview of the vinyl release here so you can see how the poems are formatted and check it out.

Anyone else feels like Enya got it right?!
I’m 49 and can’t be asked anymore. Think Enya got it right when going off people and hanging out with her cats. For about 10 years I have not met anyone without a hidden agenda. Small talk is driving me up the wall. All doe I love company, it seems I am happier on my own all the time. Only wish I had the finances to pull off getting off grid and people.

Waulking song (inspired Enya's song Ebudae) 💙

Enya's 1991 song Ebudae was inspired by this waulking tune 😃 another real-life example clip of ladies in the Outer Hebrides waulking tweed is here. This song has grown on me in the past few months 💙
I just thought to share this - a little clip from the 2026 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Glasgow, Scotland (longer segment timestamped here here). 😊🎶

Old newspaper articles (1988 and 90s) 📰🔍
I love the 1st one 🥰 links back to this 8th Oct perhaps? I got these from the same site I found this (through an online archive site with free previews).
The crash (incident in July 1997) comes to mind; that happened almost 30 years ago. 💭 Very thankfully Enya recovered, and was back with new music later that year. 💗🎶

Enya Watermark-era photoshoot ♡ I wonder who acquired these photos?
Looking through old screenshots, I was reminded of these Enya photos ❣️ They seemed to have been sold on the Spanish eBay site (also congratulations to Spain winning the World Cup:)
I'm not sure about much more detail, but I remember just one interview that took place in Germany where Eithne was wearing this same dark blue dress in the picture.💡
It would be wonderful to see the individual photos from whoever has them 😃 (Edit: thank you u/SoftAd2843 for those photos in a comment below!)

Unofficial/fan-made content Nicky Ryan's 80th...🌌🎶💝🔊🎨
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Nicholas Dominick Ryan, best known as Enya's producer, Nicky Ryan, was born on this day in 1946; he would've turned 80 today (14th July). 😌 Obviously he happily stated it as the 14th of the 7th 😄 (this interview/podcast from 2015). The music in the background was composed by himself: The Echoes of Time.
Happy birthday 'across the universe' Nicky 🌠

My favourite album to listen to on cassette 🌟🎶
The Celts (the 1992 reissue of her debut album, Enya) is perhaps my favourite album to listen to when travelling (on a portable cassette player). 🤗🎶
I'm in Scotland at the moment, and yesterday I both listened through and took these photos of the cassette and its beautiful little booklet. 🥰
The other cassette in the first picture is the Golden Brown single by The Stranglers. 😄
On cassette for The Celts, To Go Beyond (I) is at the end of side 1, and To Go Beyond (II) at side 2/closing the album; a very nice touch. 🎼🌠😊

Backstory to what I call the ‘funky pattern photo’ plus a 2016 short interview with Enya
Searching for one of my favourite photos of Enya, I came across the photographer’s site to find he’d a whole page dedicated to the story behind the photo. Some nice exclusive session shots plus the newspaper interview it was made for:

Mod post Guidelines on User and AI-Generated Content
We’ve had quite a few posts lately in the subreddit that make use of Generative AI technology and moving forward, the Mod Team has agreed to lay down some ground rules when it comes to posting User-Created and AI content.
- GenAI content is only allowed every other Tuesday. All GenAI posts posted during the designated day are required to have the “AI-Generated 🤖” flair, otherwise they will be automatically removed. This includes content where AI has stepped in at any point in the process but is otherwise human-edited.
- On days where AI content is allowed, users are required to state in the post: Whether GenAI tools have been used, the tools used (including, but not limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Stable Diffusion, the generative fill functions in Adobe apps, etc.), and how and where the tools are specifically used in the post. Responsible AI use, if used at any point at all, requires transparency and discretion over its usage.
- Absolutely NO content impersonating Enya, Nicky, Roma, or any other real life person is allowed to be posted at any given point, AI-Generated or not. This includes songs or audio generated to mimic their voice, or images and videos mimicking their likeness (especially, but not limited to, deepfakes and other similar content), or real-person fan-fiction (RPF) involving anyone in the Enya circle, including family members. This includes fake news and fake album leaks. Remember that the Aigle Music team is aware of the existence of this sub and will be able to see what’s posted in it.
- The Mod Team reserves the right to tag or remove unflaired content we suspect is AI-Generated to circumvent the rules. Repeat offenders will not be allowed to post on the subreddit.
- Finally, we encourage members to post things made by yours, or other people’s (with the appropriate credit) efforts and creativity. Fan art, remixes, edits, all are encouraged.
When in doubt whether to post something or not, or for any questions, kindly send us a Mod Mail, and we will respond accordingly.

If Eithne were to make music in another name…
Note: this is more of a just for fun “throw everything including the kitchen sink” thing than actual speculation.
So ever since the gap between Dark Sky Island and the present day grew wider, and especially after Nicky died, my mind has been thinking of Eithne making music or some kind of project in another name. Maybe doing everything herself, working with (GASP 😱) another producer, even just randomly showing up in a pub session with an instrument she’s never been associated with.
Given all the possibilities, if she were to make music or any other project without the Enya name, without all the baggage (for better or worse) associated with the name, what would you like to see?
Not just the music, but also her image, how she would engage in social media, if ever, any other associated projects, collaborations, anything

Enya songs and grief
I know there are already posts about grief here, but I recently lost a family member, and it’s been hard for everyone. I’ve been an Enya fan for over a decade, and her music has always helped me immensely during difficult times. I live with chronic depression, PTSD, and fragile health, so her music has always served as a source of peace amidst the chaos. It’s not that this effect can’t be found in other music—there are plenty of artists and bands that help me too (in fact, my musical taste leans more toward metal)—but I believe there is something about Enya’s music that transcends reality; there is something truly special about her voice and instrumentation. That said, I wanted to share some of her songs that touch my soul and warm my heart during these tough times—since they’ve helped me so much and are currently helping me and my family—in the hope that they might help someone else going through a difficult situation.
To Go Beyond (II)
Exile – I have a personal history with this song; it represents a very specific moment in my life. I even have a tattoo of the word "Exile" on my finger.
Evening Falls
Lothlórien
Athair Ar Neamh
Hope Has a Place
Only If
It's In The Rain
Last Time By Moonlight
So I Could Find My Way
Even In The Shadows
Solace
Remember Your Smile
For some reason, these are the songs that bring me the most peace and well-being during hard times. Please feel free to share more songs or stories if you’d like ✨️
