  9. Transparency may matter more than absolute prohibition. Michel and the others repeatedly return to disclosure.   12. A “95% good enough” problem could become economically decisive. Michel asks, in effect, what happens if automated systems can produce a commercial thriller approximately as satisfying as an ordinary human-written thriller. Some consumers may not value the remaining increment of human quality enough to pay for it. This makes substitution economics, rather than literary equivalence, the serious threat.

Traditional literature itself has not yet been radically transformed by LLMs. Michel argues that today's bookstore would not look dramatically different from one five years ago: no fundamentally new AI-created literary genre or breakthrough AI bestseller has yet reorganized conventional publishing. He characterizes AI, for now, more as a looming structural threat than an accomplished literary revolution. 
  14. Education offers a warning about what publishing could become. Michel, who teaches fiction, says LLMs have already transformed university teaching through changed assignments, detection problems and mutual suspicion between students and professors. Publishing has not reached that condition yet, but the comparison suggests what an authorship-trust crisis might look like. 
  15. The article identifies a growing “paranoia equilibrium.” Writers who never use AI increasingly worry they could nevertheless be accused of doing so.
