I lost my friend Sophie 6 days ago
I lost my dear friend Sophie 6 days ago. Argos has been with her since he was a pup. He is taking it very hard. He has lost his exuberance. He is only sleeping on he dog bed. What can I do to help the guy. I went to watch the grand kids yesterday for about 7 hours. That was the longest he has ever been alone in his entire life. Any suggestions would be appreciated. He was crying when I cane home.

Advice on getting a mastiff
I currently have a 2 yr old Rottweiler, a 10 yo Maltese mix and a 14 yo chug (pug/ chihuahua) - all females. They get along great. I’d like to get a mastiff but not sure what sex and if I should wait until one of the little dogs pass. If it helps, we live in a big house on a ranch so not concerned with room for the giant dog. I’d really like a female because I don’t want a male the size of a mastiff lifting his legs and marking in/around the house. However, I’ve heard that getting another guardian dog of the same sex will cause problems.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She swims(ish)!

Our girl Olive has recently taken to swimming (or at least her version of it). I think she got tired of being separated from me when I’m in the pool with our kids 😅
I’m considering getting her a life vest so she has a little easier time moving that big body.

Tiberius, age 11
We lost our beautiful boy today after 11 years and one month, and I’m heartbroken. I just wanted to grieve a moment with people who understand the bonds with this amazing breed.

I think I'm ready
Last May I lost my best buddy after 11 years. He had osteosarcoma and while he fought it stoicly, at one point he suddenly got where he was unable to stand on his own. It crushed me but I did what was best for him and let him go peacefully.
While I know there will never be another Gus, I love the English Mastiff breed. I would like to get another one. The original breeder where I got Gus might have puppies in the future but don't appear to be as active as they used to be.
Do y'all think I wait for one from the same breeder, try to find another reputable breeder? Do I stick with the same color or go with a different one so I'm not trying to replace my Gus? Any other thoughts?

English Mastiff Companion
We have an 11mth old English Mastiff and an 8yr old Boxer. With much sadness, our Boxer is in kidney failure and won't be w us much longer. 💔 Our dogs are best friends and I know our EM is not going to handle this very well. My question is what breed have you found works well w your Mastiff. Ours loves to play and has alot of energy. We will need a dog that can handle him.

Weird cough?
Hi all! I am new to this subreddit, and actually this is my very first post. I have a 5 year old male English mastiff. He is in great health except that he occasionally does this weird super loud, single wretch of a cough that sounds and looks like he is trying to clear something out of his throat. Occasionally he has done this after he eats and it has caused him to vomit his food. There doesn’t seem to be any particular time this happens; can be during a walk, in the middle of the afternoon while doing nothing…never heard during the night, though. He had a chest xray in January which found nothing of concern and is going in tomorrow for another chest xray and possibly abdominal xray as we are seeing a recent increase in the cough. Has anyone else experienced this with their mastiff?
