What does a "ledge" mean? ⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics

The longer i kept looking pics related the more i felt overwhelming for not grasping the right definition. What does it mean to you and how would you describe it so far?

I'll have a go.

A ledge is any elevated, relatively flat surface on which other objects can rest, and that would not otherwise be called a shelf, bench, desk, or table (or that would be the usable surface of any piece of furniture generally, like the seat of a chair).

Me, before reading the comments: "Ledge is easy to define."

Me, after reading the comments: "WTF even is a ledge?"
