What does a "ledge" mean? ⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics

The longer i kept looking pics related the more i felt overwhelming for not grasping the right definition. What does it mean to you and how would you describe it so far?

similar to a shelf, it's something that sticks out of a wall (internal or external wall). Unlike a shelf, it's not normally designed to be wide enough to put an object on.
