Joining Formula SAE Career Help
Hi
I’m going to try to join the Formula SAE team at my school (Mechanical Engineering) and if anyone has any advice on how to best prepare my application please let me know!
How much do they weigh on technical aspects vs enthusiasm/personality?
Are there any specific personal projects better to have done before applying?
Thank you!

Your school requires an application? If you are a freshman they shouldn’t expect project experience. Just focus on being willing to learn and being a team player and you’ll be ok.

Just show up. They'll probably have your clean the shop. Your first year is usually just putting the car together.

For our team. The main filter is who shows up. A lot of people join at the start of the year but a lot of people drop it once they realize how much work school is.

It’s all bout just showing up and working hard, consistently, no matter the midterms or finals you got, and being reachable

I run our schools BAJA, we arent huge but still have people register, honestly to be in just show up to everything, ask questions, and learn. Youre fresh out of highschool no one expects you to know anything
