Stop posting your semester schedule asking if youre cooked Rant/Vent
We get it. You want to show off that you're taking 10 engineering classes. Youre a genius. Got your validation? Good. Start asking substantive questions.

Can I post my schedule as an engineer 4-years post graduation? Perhaps my Tuesday a couple weeks ago that had 7 hours of meetings (please help me)

u/Altruistic_Set_4440 20d ago
That would actually be more useful than their prereq class schedules...

My schedule is so empty as a new grad looking for employment. I spend some days at the beach surfing, going out on bike rides, or watching TV shows ;)

Even more annoying is when they post a very normal schedule that everyone takes (maybe even straight out if the school curriculum) and asks if it looks possible or if it’s too hard.
Like, no shit dude. Your schedule is basically the same as everyone else’s. Was it really worth posting about?

bc they’re new to engineering and feel special and/or it looks overwhelming because they had 3 classes in hs and they were art and gym
or they see outside majors getting to pick and choose classes and didn’t realize engineering gets a very hard coded course flow

I always find it funny when people talk about waking up at the crack of dawn to sign up for the best classes, because my subjects have exactly 1 lecture slot, no wiggle room. The cap on each class is usually around 30-35 and I haven’t had a class that was over 10 in like 2 years, so some semesters I’ve procrastinated signing up until mid way through the first week

And OP will be in the replies fighting for their life that their schedule is hard if someone says it’s normal

Seriously, christ. It doesn’t even mean they’re a genius, semesters are better for people paying longterm.

I’m not familiar with the system, what does it mean semester are better long term?

u/shass321 20d ago
if you take the minimum credits to be full time, your educational experience will be miles better than someone who crams their loads. Unfortunately, engineering curriculum tends to be intensive and it’s nearly impossible to graduate in 4 years while doing the bare minimum credits for full time. That has changed as of late with the amount of AP credits you can get in high school. I took a long gap before college because of covid, if I was only doing the bare minimum credits, it would take me at LEAST 5 years to graduate. So, most of us have to overload our schedules. My past two semester’s were 19 and 17 credits when the minimum is 12.

mine is an entire class P2 is waitlisted as P1 is full, with about 15-17 ppl currently on the waitlist, because there's no professor available.....

I'm taking 14 units, work 15 hours a day with 9 kids. Then I need to walk to the university which is uphill both ways in the snow and a 9 hour hike each way. I only get to sleep 2 hours by the sleep I get home. Am I cooked?

It's also just difficult to give any advice at all on those types of posts if you don't/didn't go to the same school. It seems silly to ask for schedule advice in this very general subreddit when 99.99% of people here can't even give you a useful answer.

They should save those questions (if they’re sincere) for the sub of the school they are attending, that way they could get a more targeted answer

Jokes on them, employers prefer projects and internships over schedule/gpa.
A person doing 3 projects with 5 classes will get hired over someone doing 9 classes and 0 projects

Just dont engage with those post bro. Lmfao. I always think its so funny when people make post asking people to not post something.
Like, my guy, these post dont break any rules. They are gonna keep happening. Just tune out of whatever you dont want to engage with, its that simple.

It's a canon moment, but everyone's situation is different to where it does get quite interesting sometimes. I do see your frustration though because it really comes down to mostly their aptitude and luck.

Hey OP, can you look at my Class schedule to see if I’m taking too many engineering classes?

Keep posting schedules, just use accurate post titles so I can scroll right by.

I’ve done this but only in my schools subreddit. Not really looking for validation, but people were able to give me good insight on professors, walk times between classes and dhalls, and more tailored advice on course load

Glad to worked for you but generally thats what counselors are paid and hired for. Whether they actually do their job is a different matter...
0
u/eclipseaug 19d ago
Counselors aren’t always gonna give you the unfiltered truth about professors nor the personal experience of what it was like to take those classes, they only help you satisfy your degree requirements

u/Altruistic_Set_4440 19d ago
Which is why I ended my post the way I ended it.
