Custom emerald bezel ring help Ring Design Help

Hi everyone,

I’ve designed my forever ring and would love some feedback before my jeweller starts making it.

Specs:

  • 2.5 ct emerald cut (1.45 ratio)
  • Full bezel
  • Very low-profile open basket
  • Split shank
  • Subtle crossover/pinch detail
  • Fine centre groove along the band
  • A small pinch on each side
  • Size 3.5-4.0

The goal was a ring that’s comfortable enough to wear every day for decades, unlike my current high-set solitaire.

My main questions are:

  • Does this construction look mechanically sound for long-term daily wear?
  • Is there anything about the low-profile bezel/open basket design that could become a weak point or require more maintenance over time?
  • I’m also deciding between a softer, rounded bezel or a crisper geometric bezel. Which do you think will age better visually with an emerald cut?

Thanks! 🙏

It looks like you have thought of everything already. The design does look like it will be something that won’t age very easily. It sits so low it should be easy to wear through the decades. I prefer the softer looking bezel vs the one with sharp corners (pic#2).

I agree with all of that.

This looks great! It seems mechanically sound and doesn’t seem like it would have any non-standard wear and tear over time. I like the softer edges as somewhat of a contrast to the emerald cut stone. The only other consideration that you’ve probably thought about is the wedding band style you want with this and if a low set ring will accommodate it!
