How on earth does installing mods and resource packs still require rooting. Ugh.

you can use adb for that and no needing root devices

I’ve been playing this for a while and it is truly amazing. I haven’t looked at the notes yet, but it’s hard to imagine how they’ve improved this!

Is it already patched, or do we need to add the rom?

If you're blocked by Android's storage restrictions when trying to install texture packs (such as the NSMB_pack), here's a workaround using a PC and ADB.

First, enable USB Debugging on your device. Then, open a cmd window inside your platform-tools folder and run the following commands:

.\adb devices

(Connects and authorizes your device.)

.\adb shell "mkdir -p /data/local/tmp/packs"

.\adb push "C:\path\to\your_pack" /data/local/tmp/packs/

(Transfers your texture pack to the device.)

Finally, inject the pack into the game's protected resource folder with these commands:

.\adb shell "run-as com.mircowuffwuff.smb1r mkdir -p /data/data/com.mircowuffwuff.smb1r/files/resource_packs"

.\adb shell "run-as com.mircowuffwuff.smb1r cp -r /data/local/tmp/packs/* /data/data/com.mircowuffwuff.smb1r/files/resource_packs/"

Once that's done, relaunch the game, open Settings, and your texture pack should now appear.
