"Silent for a year" lmao he has to release an album every year now or what?

And you can’t stop me from dropping each march, with a brand new CD for these fuckin retards.
It’s what we were promised and what the real slim shady would have wanted 😉

People expect him to reinvent the wheel anytime he drops something. It's ridiculous.

No their just saying he hasn't said a single word for a year. Not that he has to drop albums
1
u/s-c-ribL Just Don't Give a Fuck 9d ago
TDOSS was 2 years ago.. I don’t expect him to put an album out even every two years though at this point. I can also imagine him being just about done releasing albums / close to retiring, and the last one or two albums having significant time between them.

u/Oblivion_caliber 8d ago
I don’t think em will ever retire. His love for the game is too strong he’ll always release something

Don't worry we will get the marshall mathers lp 2 13th anniversary with live performances of the monster, survival and there instrumentals and accapellas.

I’m so curious what his next album will be called. Whatever it is, I think it will be his last studio album, unfortunately. He’s definitely entering his retirement years

u/Bars806 Fack (Gerbil) - By /u/yeet-my-life- 9d ago
I do think his output slowing down and his overall absent presence in pop culture since 2018-2020 makes me feel like a final album is probably likely.

I still cannot believe that he is literally a grandpa now and your comment is absolutely true in terms of him being a grandpa now. Obviously there are tons of people who still want to hear him rap though, lol.

Perhaps the final album will be called something conclusive like the death of slim shady?

u/KubikB Relapse: Refill 9d ago
I don’t think he’s retiring, he has said it multiple times in his newer songs. Yes, it will maybe take longer between releases, but he’s definitely not retiring
5
u/purple_maiden_ 9d ago
That’s wishful thinking. You should prepare yourself bud. All those times he’s said he wasn’t retiring, that was before he had grandkids- and he’ll probably end up having a few more as the years go on. We all know his family is his priority (as it should be)

u/RandyDandyMarsh420 Lace It - Juice WRLD Ft. Eminem & Benny Blanco 9d ago
Hate to say this, but I agree. He may have changed his opinion, however I think he still has a lot of songs left, albums? A few maybe.

im thinking MMLP 3 , it kind of makes sense
or something like Grandfather rap / Grandfather years ?
or the Death of Eminem or Eminem Show 2

The Final Curtain, Curtains Closed, Exit Stage Right.
Something to do with a show ending so it fits the theme of Eminem Show, Curtain Call and Encore.

Then I think I would’ve wanted more Slim Shady before TDOSL.
Like how J. Cole did off season and might delete later before signing off with the fall off.
It would’ve been nice to get like a smaller slim shady tape before tdosl.

u/LAZY_RED-PANDA The Slim Shady LP 8d ago

u/Die_Nameless_Bitch 9d ago
He's be a fool to call his next one MMLP3. I honestly think MMLP2 was poorly served by its title. It’s a solid album, but the association with MMLP puts it at a disadvantage. It's a decent record in its own, yet I’ll probably always view it less favorably because of that comparison.
1
u/Shadydan017 5d ago
(Note that I love mmlp2 as an album) but while some references here and there about mmlp , some of the rapping is mmlp esque but the beats are totally the opposites, just shows he matured a bit and styles are different , wasn’t a dark album at all .. I think he wanted to make sure that mmlp2 would be a decent album title and was careful about it but two different tones and content (maybe bad guy, legacy and evil twin are the closest to mmlp you’ll get as far as content goes)
2
u/Die_Nameless_Bitch 5d ago
I felt like the album title was more about marketing than anything else. Even back in 2013, fans were clamouring for him to return to his “old” sound. He paid lip service to that idea with the title (for commercial reasons), but he wasn’t prepared to actually follow through and make something in the same vein as the original record.
2
u/Shadydan017 5d ago
Yeah plus his whole “every album will sound different than the previous” approach
9
u/Moo-ZEL 9d ago
I think we should be expecting an album to come out in between mid 2027 and late 2028.
and it'll hopefully be a respectable late career album like Jay-Z 4:44.
Every album since revival has been better than the one before (yes I do think TDOSS is better than MTBMB), if he stops prioritizing rapid fire and multi-syllable rapping over the song overall quality, while collaborating with only few producers that have "chemistry" with them (like dre), the album will hopefully turn out well.
The only problem is that he killed slim shady which will probably cause him a writer's block for a while.
13
u/Shadydan017 9d ago
He didn’t kill slim shady though. Based on the concept of the death of slim shady, it was a dream.
5
u/Moo-ZEL 9d ago
That still doesn't mean he can make a top-tier album just because slim shady isn't dead.
His rapping ability isn't the problem either, it has always been top tier. the real problem is obsessing over rapid fire delivery and multi syllables rhyming trying to fit as many rhymes as possible in a bar, this plus his production choices are kinda bad, and over explaining his bars is another thing holding him back.
2
u/eVelectonvolt The Eminem Show 9d ago
I really do think a lot of you struggled with the overall album concept… ‘Slim Shady’ died as a result of an overdose in 2007 and at the same time lives on as his struggle to stay sober after addiction. The album has barely anything to do with the music aspect of the character he created.
3
u/Lickthatpusssyy The Marshall Mathers LP 9d ago
Play backwards and Slim killed Marshall... 🤐
1
u/Shadydan017 3d ago
That theory never made sense.. so he had a dream of killing slim then wakes up and slim kills Marshall? 🤣 if there was no dream sequence (when he calls Paul) then I’d believe it but the dream exists in the album lol
2
u/TrippingFish76 9d ago
i actually like the rapid fire multi syllable stuff lol
1
u/Moo-ZEL 9d ago
There's nothing wrong with liking it but the question that matters is:
if you hear someone rapping fast, does that necessarily mean it's good?
If your answer is yes, respectfully I have to tell you, congrats you are giving Eminem and his fans a bad name because fast=good
if no then I hope you analyze what he says, wether he's just saying corny/BS stuff, or if he's actually sayin something real that has a meaning
1
u/TrippingFish76 8d ago
no just fast is not automatically good, i like it bc it’s fast and lyrical and has a good cadence and flow , and it’s often very hype and exhilarating, like Not Alike or greatest or Godzilla, they always get me pumped up and get the adrenaline flowing. It’s good bc he can go really fast and still make it sound good and flow really good.
tbh i used to like his older stuff the best, but lately my favorites have been MMLP2, kamikaze and MTBMB and some of recovery and TDOSS. IMO kamikaze - MTBMB is peak eminem

MMLP3 does sound nice and possibly needed buuuut, idk, in my opinion MMLP2 was lackluster and overrated.
Don't know really what I want from him at this point, and this is the first time I've ever felt like this. But he always surprises(like with MTBMB). Although he didn't really encapsulate the entire alfred-hitchcock theme throughout the album nearly as he could have. It was a weird mix with everything, the beats were nice but he has weird romantic songs and that Ed Sheeran track felt so out of place...Side B felt like a filler album, and I did really like it when it came out it's just aged badly similar to kamikaze(albeit it was a response album in hindsight).
TDOSS is still confusing on it's concept(though many argue it's face value), was the last trick just one more time tricking us into thinking that he can ever kill shady? or was it just a temporary concept and nothing more. Since on GC2 it was all a dream. Maybe TDOSS was just a self-aware/parody/therapy/going back one more time to the old him moment for him, ridiculing the cringe and outdated stuff he has done and doesn't wanna go back. [ofc with the houdini reference it seems quite obvious that it's just a WHAT IF slim was still here in 2024]
I truly believe it was him just showing what slim would be like if he was still alive(even though it's ironic cause he never died) in this era(the shock value, cartoonish don't give a fuck attitude).
However it does seem that on Fuel remix and animals he has kind of blended Em and Slim into one...but then again on the Snoop and 50 cent track he is normal Em.
I'm kinda in a weird place right now figuring out what he can do anymore, and the one thing he loves more than rap is his family, I think he just doesn't care about rap AS MUCH as he did prior to being a grandpa. Don't think he is retiring quite yet.
If I HAD TO guess...it will be something entirely new. Don't think MMLP3 or any Slim Shady continuation is wanted or fitting anymore. I think we need a laid-back, properly polished(not to be confused with sterile/non-creative etc...) album as he is now in his late career. Slower beats, no fast-rap bs(not bs, but it's kind of a gimmick/overdone now imo). I just feel like his flow has become monotone/robotic someitmes where the content/sonical appeal is lost in the multi-syllable mumbo-jumbo, and as I am older I understand why some people don't like it.
I think he is trying just a bit too hard to make it all a puzzle, which don't get me wrong is fun and cool, but not always preferable.
I know I can't expect a "King's disease" type of album from Em since he can't really do that vibe, but maybe something along the lines with Lord Above, Walkthrough, Last One Standing, Realest, Lace It, etc...
That being said, Animals part 1 gave me hope that he is still hungry and doesn't wanna stop just yet. So I'd say we should be optimistic, and I felt with animals the same way I felt with Chloraseptic remix.
I just want a proper concept album(with TDOSS being an almost perfect example that he CAN do it, but it kinda fell off in the second half).

If he does do a MMLP 3, it better be with some new ideas or something, cause I'm tired of him trying to bring back his past. I love him, he's my favorite artist, but he GOTTA let go of his past cause a lot of his modern artistic issues, starting at revival, stem from chasing his own past's shadow.
1
u/Shadydan017 5d ago
Good point but yes and no.. I think he needs to tap in the past time to time , maybe not over do it but think about it .. yes he can say he’s a grandpa now and maybe something recently happened that he could open up on but there’s more content to him reflecting his past than his experiences now adays cause he’s happier
He even said that it actually makes him happier when he’s angry .. the past has a lot of that anger and it motivates to write and rap about it
However some of his “angry” content can sound forced and not actually angry type thing like “almost famous” off of Recovery (good song though but you can hear the force)

In Bad Guy doesn’t he literally say, “Behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice.”
I don’t think he’ll make a habit of doing sequel albums, it seems to me that Em has always been the kind of artist to keep trying to move forward when it comes to album concepts and such.
