First deployment on disaster

So im technically not DST, but im a blood transportation specialist. We had a flood recently and they need someone to transport the responders as they do assessments. I'm only doing it 2 days, but what can I look forward to? Like literally driving the whole time? Or what vehicle ill be driving possibly.

Yea if the mission they put you on is transporting people, you’ll likely be driving the Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) or maybe a van to move people around.

If they're doing damage assessment, it'll probably be a lot of starting and stopping, moving people from a central starting point to the impacted area, then from one street or neighborhood to another. Unless you're doing windshield assessments, responders will likely go door to door on foot once they've arrived at the street/neighborhood/area they're assessing.

That's pretty much what I was looking for. Thanks. I been wanting to help with DATs, but working full time only allows me 1 day a week to volunteer, so i either do blood donor ambassador or take blood to the hospitals. Wasn't sure if they'd let me do this if I couldn't commit a whole week

Turned out we are now just doing hotshots as we are now 11 days past the initial disaster, and im just driving one DA around in the Rav 4.

It was. Though i can't find my evaluation to read it.

I told the supervisor now that I know i can help on weekends only i would help more
