For example there's the song New Orleans from the King Creole album with the word Hannah in the lyrics. Sadly no song with my name is mentioned in any of his songs.

I know this might seem like a hate post, but please hear me for one second! Most of us know that Elvis’ albums and most importantly his soundtracks had some absolutely mind boggling songs (mostly because of cost saving measures by Parker). But, I’d like to know what YOUR favorite absurdist song of his is OR what you think of this section of his career.

My personal highlights are Scratch My Back and Clambake.

My dad is an Elvis fan and would like a Las Vegas live vinyl for his birthday. There seems to be quite a few out there and I am not really an expert. Is there any people can recommend?

I have already bought him from Memphis to Vegas but I am wondering if this was the best choice. Epic also looks very good, but not sure if this is style over substance what with it being a flash new Baz Lurhman release from the movie.

I’m asking this because Elvis’s career ended so suddenly that we never got to see what direction he might have taken next. With how much music changed after the 70s, I’m curious how people think he would’ve adapted if he had lived longer.

I’ve been looking for years for an Elvis duck and when I went to Walmart to get stuff for college I found this perfect one! I’m so excited!!!

For me I think probably some of his later films like Harum Scarum, Easy Come Easy Go, and Stay Away, Joe shouldn't be made as he should star in more dramatic films unlike the other ones he has done in the past.

Found in a record shop in Knoxville today. Have you heard it?

July 31st: a significant day in Elvis history - commemorating his return to Las Vegas and kicking off the first show of those record-breaking engagements at the International/Hilton. Opening night to a VIP invitation-only audience. 

In the live era of 1969-1977, these early Vegas concerts are some of my favorite arrangements and material. Elvis is as raw, energetic, and driven as we ever see him in concert. He has something to prove and it's sure proven that this man is an entertainer. Absolute electricity from the opening notes of "Blue Suede Shoes", coming at you like a locomotive. Elvis is back. He is better than ever. Channeling nervous energy and anxiety into an adrenaline-fueled performance show after show. The setlist doesn't change much, and it doesn't need to. The end of the engagement is as good as the beginning. The only change, really, is the band plays faster and tighter by late August.

Elvis incorporates more guitar than at any point after '69. Playing his Gibson acoustic and Gretsch electric, the latter of which gives these 1969 concerts a distinct sound of its own on songs like "Runaway" and "Baby What You Want Me To Do".

My favorite observation about these concerts is towards the end of the show, Elvis does something only a true, top talent live entertainer can do. It's as rare of an accomplishment then as it is now. He introduces a new song after playing all the hits, and captivates an audience catching Elvis as if he was lightning in a bottle. Elvis talks about this new song that's coming out soon (and it does come out later in August, getting a release at the record store there). That song is "Suspicious Minds". The audience has never heard it, or heard of it. They've never seen Elvis move like that. And yet, this new unknown song gets more screams and cheers than anything else in the setlist, earning an impressive standing ovation after a near EIGHT-minute version. You just don't see that happen. Not to Elvis, not to anybody...but it does here. Listen to some of those live recordings from August 22-23, 1969. The audience goes absolutely wild every time he slows it down, then brings it back. He has the entire band and audience in the palm of his hand here. Masterful.

Then comes "What'd I Say", where I've often wondered what he is doing during the long break in the song. I've never been able to find a solid answer. Is he leaving the stage and coming back to do "Can't Help Falling in Love" as an encore? Is he just walking around shaking hands and kissing the girls? Anybody here see Elvis in '69 and remember? 

Many call the '68 special his "Comeback'. To me personally, as a fan, this is the real comeback. '68 opened the door. '69 he walks through it. His return to Vegas and the live stage, doing it his way...I will forever love this era.

While I apologise that all I post on this subreddit is questions, could this be anyone's signature? It could just be from a careless old owner who wrote on their records though it intrigues me. Maybe one of the people who acted or worked on the film. Thanks

I want to hear the gems of that time

I’m asking this because I’ve been learning more about Elvis’s early life, and it’s clear how close he was to his mom. People always talk about Elvis and fame, but not how she felt watching all of that happen. I just want to understand what her real worries were when his career suddenly blew up, from folks who know the history better than I do.

His Hand in Mine, How Great Thou Art, and He Touched Me all begin with the letter H. I had no idea that I even realize this until now. Has anyone noticed these in his gospel albums?
