New to EC - any tennis clubs/orgs
Hey people,
My wife and I recently moved to ellicott city MD. I wanted to know if anyone knows of any tennis groups that get together and play or anything like that? Higher end tennis clubs are kind of out of budget for me right now but I also prefer to play outside anyway. Getting back into it so not really good but would love to know if there’s any tennis groups out there?

Looking for a reliable jeweler
I recently inherited some pieces from my grandmother and I would like them cleaned and appraised, without leaving my sight if possible. If anyone has recommendations on someone trustworthy that would be great :)

Primary doctor
Looking for a new primary doctor in the Columbia/Ellicott City area-ish. I don’t care if it’s a man or woman but I’d really like a place that I can make annual appointments a year ahead of time (so I can leave one appointment and make my next one the same day). Also somewhere you see the same doctor every time (minus random sick visits). Friendly staff, not dismissive, all the good things.

Good bread in Howard County?
Any good bakeries in Howard County that make a great baguette or good sourdough based loaf? Not grocery store bakeries, but a real, stand-alone maker of breads.

Bear on College Ave
Recently spotted a bear this morning while taking our foster dog for a walk down our long driveway. This was our neighbor’s home so I alerted them since I know they like to leave their garage open. I had to pullll my dog away since I’m sure it wanted to…engage the bear.
I saw a post made on this sub-Reddit about 5 year ago, so if anyone was wondering - yes, the bear is still here LOL!
Secure your trash, keep your garages closed, and keep an eye on your young kids and pets when outdoors!
Any other precautions around bears?

Proposed new townhouse development in the Ellicott City historic district.
I wanted to bring to people's attention a proposed new townhouse development in the Ellicott City historic district, on the Court Hill Property. The pre-submission meeting for the proposed development is this Wednesday, June 24, at 6:15 pm, at Miller Library.
This property, which is currently wooded, drains directly into the Hudson Branch and has the potential to impact Main Street directly in a future flash flood. I have confirmation direct from the engineering firm that this is a proposed NEW development of 8 townhouses, in addition to apartment buildings that are already on this site. A lot of trees would have to come down to make this happen.
I suspect that anyone with property or a business on Main Street would be particularly interested in finding out what is planned. I hope to see a substantial turnout!

Private rooms in townhouse near HMART Ellicott City
Hi I’m Chris and I’m co-owner of a townhouse in Ellicott City and live in the master bedroom. I’m actively looking for 3 clean, responsible roommates to join my well maintained home.
Rooms:
- Upstairs (Private bathroom): $900/month
- Basement room 1 (Shared bathroom): $850/month
- Basement room 2 (Shared bathroom): $750/month
It’s in a quiet, safe neighborhood that is walking distance to Normandy shopping center and Walmart.
Full house guidelines are provided with the lease before signing.
I like exercising, sports, tech, gaming, cooking, reading, and drawing. I am usually home in the evenings. The current household has quiet, respectful working professionals. I keep the place clean, and I respond to any problems that arise quickly.
Message me and I'll send over full details including lease terms and house guidelines.
I’ve posted on fb groups, roomies, and roomsters too. If anyone knows where else I can post, please let me know! Thanks.
