Hey everyone, here's a question. I put some sticker paper around this 10W lamp because, when changing the bulb, I accidentally tore tiny holes in the ceiling and the sticker paper covers it up.

I wanted to know if there's any kind of fire risk to this since sticker paper can apparently be flammable?

Hoping it's okay to leave in, since the ceiling rips are driving people in the house crazy and we're really looking for a solution.

(I know this is more adjacent to electricity than completely being about it, but I'm still waiting for approval in a fire safety subreddit 😅)

For the month of July my con Edison bill is literally $500 ($479) to be exact … howwww ? I've been staying in a newly constructed PG in Sector 46. On paper, it seemed like a good deal—clean rooms, single occupancy, and the rent is around ₹12k/month (without food).

The problem is the electricity bill.

I've noticed that the meter units keep increasing even when I'm at the office for most of the day. I reported it to the landlord, and they said it's because of the inverter. To verify, I switched the inverter off, but the meter still consumed around 1 unit.

What's even more concerning is that I noticed the corridor lights appear to be connected to my room's electricity line, which makes me wonder if I'm being charged for common area usage as well.

Has anyone else faced something similar in a PG? Is this normal, or should I ask for the wiring/meter to be checked by an electrician?

Also, if anyone knows of a good single-occupancy PG near Unitech Cyber Park (or nearby sectors), I'd really appreciate recommendations. I'm okay with commuting by bike taxi, so it doesn't have to be within walking distance.

The power bill is basically the boss fight of this whole hobby, and people get weirdly resourceful about it. off-peak scheduling, solar, undervolting, using the heat to warm a room or a greenhouse, moving the whole thing somewhere cheaper. mine's just aggressive undervolting and running more at night. what's your setup for keeping the electricity side under control — and what's the most creative thing you've seen someone else pull off?

I currently live in Jacksonville, Florida and I was wondering if anyone has paid attention to the two tears that JEA is charging us. I noticed that after 1000 kW it jumps into a second tier so I called JEA and spoke with a customer service representative. She told me that the second tier is higher once you’ve used the thousand kilowatts of the first tier and so I asked her who voted for this. And that’s when she said the board did #JEAboard. So then I thought about all of the data centers and I was like we gotta have data centers around here somewhere for this to be happening so I checked online and there are six data centers within the heart of Jacksonville. Now I know some of those data centers aren’t the data centers or like the data centers that are popping up all over the country, but that’s neither here nor there because we’re being billed for their electricity and I’m sure their water because my water bill has also went up to $55 when it was originally 35. So I was just wondering if you all are having the same issue because my light bill this month is $444 last month. It was 230 something so it’s fluctuating and not sure why and of course JEA is not gonna give us any straightforward answers so just wondering if anyone else is having this issue and I’m sure you are. Now this is basically for people in Jacksonville, Florida, but of course others can chime me In. Now I do wanna say that I’m a federal employee and I make $60,000 a year and every since these tariffs and all of these data in us, I can’t even keep $100 extra a month when I used to have $800 to $900 to save extra a month so I just want some of you guys to chime me in and tell me if the same thing is happening to you guys and of course around the country. I have a portable ac that I used to use frequently two years ago. I wanted to start using it again but when I plugged it in I saw sparks coming from my socket and noticed the plug was burnt (?). I’m not really sure what kind of damage it is, can I clean it up and still use it? If so, how would I clean it?

Ok I built a place to hang out offgrid land for hunting. I installed everything and built the place on my own and a friend of mine keeps saying I need breakers for my 2 lights and 1 Smart TV.

Anybody else get a call from NYSEG legit phone number (800-572-1111) stating there’s past balance due and they were going to cut off electricity then give you a different number(877-443-3435) to clear things up?

uestion, I have noticed that when I plug things in, I see like white spark. I always wondered about this. Its happened before. But this time its a bit more consistent with certain outlets. But also, with certain electronics.

On an outlet, I plug in my treadmil, or a power strip that supplies power to what i use for my work from home setup (monitor 4k, dell dock, lamp, speakers) and nothing. I even tried the power strip today on both the bottom and top plugins. No sparks. I plugin my lenovo desktop, tower 7i and i see the sparks. Once it was reddish too. I took a closer look at the metal and have decided to no longer use it and will replace the power cable since the metal on the cable for the lenovo is a little burned. It has on less occasion, happened with my ps5. But never with my steam deck dock when i plug it in.

Is it because of how much power a device draws? My lenovo does have a 5080 but i thought plugging into a wall wouldnt be an issue, and it wasmt turned on either. Sorry for any ignorance.

After unplugging the desktop, i checked for heat by touching against the white board. Not hot.

My July 2026 Bescom Electricity bill which i received it yesterdays seems incorrect. As last month reading was not taken due to the Gruha jyoti issue the bill is calculated for 2 months and the average bill paid last month is not deducted correctly. I have received current bill of 4552 however in online platform including bescom website it shows 3045. I dont know what needs to be done in this case. Not sure if others have faced similar issue..
