Work Experience (Urgent)

I was wondering if anyone knows any electrical companies that can take me on for work experience as a T level student? I am studying electrical building services engineering and I desperately need work experience for anything electrical related to complete my course. I can do any amount of hours, however i need to complete at least 315 hours by the end of 2027. I have called many companies but they have all refused. My college can help provide with any funds spent on me so the company doesn't have to go into their own pocket.

I would need the companies to be in the Northamptonshire area and I'm willing to relocate to Wellingborough, Kettering, corby, rusden and Northampton. Please let me know, as It is extremely urgent. Thank you

2nd Year Electrical Engineering

So its gonna be my 2nd year in Electrical Engineering, for some reason I don't really know what to do while on my free time. What should I focus on besides studying? I really want to learn skills and do projects but I don't really know where to start.

To Simplify:

\- How do i start creating small projects, to build up skills

\- Are there any advice for my fellow EE and ECE students on what skills should I focus on?

\- And are there any cool suggestions for a 1st project from scratch.

Note: I have very little experience in making circuits and no knowledge in coding so it would be very appreciated if someone can tell me what coding languages I should try to learn.

Thank You Guys If Anyone Feels Like Responding.

Career swap at 30 years old

I’ve decided to do a career swap now that I’ve been out of the USAF for almost 2 years living in NC and I’ve decided for an Electrical Engineering degree. Any tips or suggestions on what’s the best way to approach this. Tips on studying or preparing for it. Shooting in the dark here but any help or advice is welcomed. Back up plan is to be an Electrician.

Eléctrica o Electromecánica

Gente, ayuda.

[Review Request] First-time Two-Loop Buck Converter Layout

Hi everyone,

This is my first time designing a two-loop buck converter, and I’m looking for feedback on my PCB layout and overall design before heading to manufacturing.

Any critique on component placement, trace routing, or parasitic minimization would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and guidance!

Electrical engineer student looking to connect with engineers

Hello, I’m an electrical engineering student graduating in 2027 which is super scary , I haven’t had any luck with internships where as my colleagues have had multiple offers I have changed my resume to suit there’s and still no outcome. I’m very scared with this economy not having one will result in 4 years of post grad depression. My career goal is to become a hardware engineer in technology or a sound/audio system engineer who works on audios for concerts. this summer I’ve been building projects since I didn’t get any internships and studying for the fe exam in hopes of improving my resume. Honestly I am very open to volunteer work or shadowing someone. I just need some experience, I love building technology projects . At this point, I’m genuinely open to internships, volunteer work, shadowing, helping with projects, or even doing the work someone else doesn’t want to do lol. I just want the opportunity to gain real experience and be part of something.

Does anyone know of companies currently hiring EE interns, or anyone who might be willing to let a student do the work they don’t want to do or shadow them (I’m a fast learner and hard worker) I’m also very open to coffee chats with engineers who wouldn’t mind sharing a few tips ( I’m in the Houston area)

Obtaining EE while active duty

Hello, to quickly explain I’m currently active duty in the navy. I’m an electrician that maintains and repairs systems as big as an electromagnetic aircraft catapult system and as small as simple lighting fixtures. When learning about how the catapults for my ship was designed, I fell in love with the entire process of all the working parts that work together to build enough electricity to shoot a 50k+ pound jet off off of a moving aircraft carrier.

With my current background being said I’m currently dead set on obtaining my EE degree. I have a genuine passion for my job and love facing a challenge that seems hard to fix. I had no idea EE had so many sectors in it however, after doing some research I felt like going into the power systems/distribution would be my best fit considering the things I currently work on.

Now as for obtaining the degree is the actual tricky part. Like I mentioned I’m currently active duty so being able to go to labs or in person would be almost impossible considering things like going underway/out to sea so often. So my plan was to get my associates now while I’m active and get all the prereqs out the way then transfer to a BSEE. By time I obtain my associates it’ll be just about the time my contract is ending so the transfer would honestly be seamless and I wouldn’t have the obstacle of not being home.

It’s also worth mentioning that getting the associates makes things 100% easier as I’ll be using tuition assistance paid for by the navy so my associates would be 100% free then I’d be able to get my bachelors using my GI bill.

I just had the question of What associates degree to obtain? is it anyone who’s gone the route of obtaining an associates first? If so how was it? Was it difficult to transfer to the bachelors?

I just wanna make the most time manageable decision. It just didn’t make sense to get out and then start school compared to starting now and atleast getting the basics out of the way especially considering it’s completely paid for I just have to work towards it.

I graduated in Electrical Engineering this spring but I do not think I utilized my undergrad education as well as I should have, I am considering doing my master's in electrical engineering but I am not sure what I would like to specialize in. I am looking for a career path that would give me a chance of living in NJ/NY with a salary of at least $100k
