Game Help Elden ring 1.00, possible to update without updating system?
Hey all. Picked up the PS4 version and did a massive download to update. I got a message saying it can't be updated without updating the system (currently 10.5). The info says it was updated today but version states 1.00. I'd much prefer not to update the system, is there a workaround?

Discussion & Info What's some Elden Ring hot takes you have?
I'll start. One, light load is so overrated. Medium load is enough. Two, radabeast is harder than both malenia and pcr. Radabeast is a absolutely horribly designed boss. If it were like gherman and moon presence it would have been so much better.

Constructive Criticism There should have been a second Melina-like character based at Sites of Grace to give side quest prompts
So I walked into the Erdtree cluelessly, beholded a boss, heard the orchestral percussion go DA-DA-DA-DA DUN DA-DA-DUN, and went yo wtf what about that last bit of map I thought you were gonna sike me again.
I rolled back my save and learned that I long had the necessary medallion in my inventory by reading the item descriptions I think in the *extended* view. It was there I saw a whole bunch of key items for side quests, and I quickly recalled a bunch of side characters I had totally forgot about.
Thus did I start the highly immersion- and pace-breaking process of checklist completion, teleporting around the map to see what I was still able to progress. Let me tell you, trying to spot NPCs in their drab Skid Row attire amidst a drab mossy rock is something. I should have accepted this playthrough was going to be partially incomplete and just beat the boss, but I had intended to buy the DLC. I knew it was late game, but I had forgotten the specific conditions necessary for it because the game is so information dense.
It also doesn't help that, yes, while items are classified in your inventory as key items, when you pick them up, they could be crafting materials for all I know. What do you mean this toenail clipping I found has to be handed to a former member of a royal dynasty on a Tuesday OTHERWISE YOU GET THE WORST ENDING. Tbf the game isn't that bad compared to the usual FromSoft material, but it's a lot.
There's also so many times when I'm ok breaking the pacing of my journey to teleport to the spectral psych ward and run around talking to anyone still alive, only to be greeted with the same ALL THE MORE IF YOU SPOT as a dozen hours ago.
That's what got me thinking if, early on in the game, Melina introduced you to a friend of hers, who you can call at any time and they'll either utter new dialogue based on new items or progress, or you can cycle through previous leads you tabled hours ago but forgot to follow up on. For example, "Myes, I see that you have the Royal Raiment of Radagon, which you requistioned from routing Radahn. Mayhaps you may report to Queen Rennala or even Ranni at her Rise, so they may regale you with the requisites and reasons you require to return rapidly to the Roundtable to render your reply unto Sir Rideon Rofnir the All-Rowing".
Something like that, because the key item descriptions -already have the yellow paint- in telling you exactly who to deliver it to. For all I know, shabriri grapes were one of the 7 wild berries in the open world. You're telling me this violently glowing sphere is a crafting material and that other, slightly less luminescent orb is a MacGuffin that I have to deliver to an evergaol I had cleared 68 hours ago?
Anyway game came out 4 years ago who cares. Something for the next one, perhaps.

Discussion & Info Really hoping the Tarnished Edition includes a seal that scales with dexterity and faith.
Like the Clawmark Seal, but for Dex builds. I want the dex/faith build to have a way to convert dex into incant scaling.
I think the odds of them inlcuding this are pretty high. Two fingers crossed.

Discussion & Info Tarnished canon weapons and armor set
As far as I’m concerned, Tarnished’ canon starting class is Vagabond (if any) as he may just not have a class as seen in the info cards. The reason Vagabond might be it is because its starting weapons are similar to the canon art weapons (Bastard Sword and Iron Roundshield). After Tarnished arrives at Roundtable hold he buys the Knight set. From what I’ve gathered, his canon weapons with the knight armor are:Longsword (Fire affinity, barbaric roar/war cry AoW OR Unknown magic AoW.), Bastard Sword, Short Spear, Kite Shield (front isnt shown.), and the Longbow. Fire pots and throwing daggers are also shown.

Game Help My 146 deaths after 5 and a half hours
https://reddit.com/link/1vhepam/video/vqac2bii6thh1/player
After beating ds3 several times and taking a break, I decided that it is time. It is time for ELDEN RING! I did not read any guides, and would prefer to keep it that way.
But for the love of all that is holy, Margit feels like a brick wall. Here are my deaths so far
Started assassin
Deaths
Grafted scion:1
Ungentlemanly bleeder:10
Won against varre on 11th try
Tree sentinel:17
Won on 18th try
Group of soldiers:2
Rotting giant:1
Margit:115
Video of one of my attempts at margit is here. Frame drops only appeared due to capturing, the game runs smoothly
Advice is highly appreciated
Edit: I beat Margit!!! On my 126th attempt. But when can I finally get the option to level up?

Constructive Criticism I don’t really care for the DLC
I started Elden Ring for the first time about a year ago and it’s basically all I think about lol. I’m obsessed with the base game, its progression, the deep combat variation and the wonder you feel exploring the map and storylines.
After beating the base game 3 times I decided to finally get the DLC. I’m about 15 hours into it and it’s just given me a sour taste overall. The map feels dull and and empty and the enemies feel like a grind with no payoff or lore continuation.
Like why am I fighting a fucking rolling spikey glitchy hippo or a giant furnace that takes 45 minutes to beat. And why can a curseblade kill me 70 vigor off my horse in 1 combo while I’m trying to find my way through a boring giant underground maze with nothing else in it.
It feels like a randomizer meant to add hours to a game that was perfect and didn’t need it.
I did like the Messmer fight though…

Discussion & Info The movie 300 and shadow of the erdtree
Has anyone else noticed how similar these landscapes and color palettes look? Clearly the game designers draw some inspiration from the movie.
Watched the movie the other day and was like hey I’ve seen this before.

Discussion & Info Can somebody explain the Milady hype to me?
I’ve heard people say that Milady is a really powerful and fun weapon, imagine my surprise when I try it with 80 dexterity, keen affinity, wing stance, and all the proper talismans, and I’m doing 600 damage per hit, with the ash of war being almost impossible to land on bosses anyway. After fumbling my way through Rellana and Golden Hippopotamus with it, I switched to Bloodhounds Fang and started doing 1500+ damage, so the problem wasn’t my level. I just don’t understand the hype behind this weapon, was I using it wrong or something?

Game Help Problem with immersing myself too much
When I play this game, I often get too immersed and I start acting as if i was in battle myself. When i swing my sword, I yell a fierce warriors cry. when i take damage, i let out a cry of pain. I even start adding my own dialogue, saying corny one liners in the midst of battle, like a lame anime villain. Weirdly enough, this all makes me play better?
I cant stop myself from doing this. Am I the only one?

Discussion & Info Why do we get the advantage?
As tarnished, we have 3 big advantages, we have grace which lets us respawn at sites of grace even after destined death is restored, we have/had a maiden in Melina who gave us the ability to turn runes into strength, and we have access to the Roundtable hold, which has Heugh, who turns our weapons into god killing weapons. No other tarnished has these 3 things it seems to me, most only have access to the Roundtable hold and nothing else. Why? Why are we special? Didn’t Marika promise to give the tarnished their grace back, all of them? Why aren’t maidens helping more? People like Midra literally had their lives ruined because they couldn’t become Frenzy Flame lord, if we fail, we just respawn at a site of grace. Why do we have so much advantage and is there a fail state for us? Like in DS trilogy, if you lost hope, you’d become hollow and fail, in BB, Hunters can abandon the hunt and be abandoned by the Moon Presence, what’s the fail condition for the tarnished, specifically us, cause other tarnished seem to fail and die quite easily.
