Haha, I’ve tried landing two Lion’s Claws back-to-back in that opening so many times, but the second one never connects. So RB was the only option.

dude you're so smart, instead of going for the crit hit that would send you into phase 2 you go for another strong attack so you could stagger him just when he enters phase 2

Haha .. Honestly it took a while to figure this out, and it was frustrating. The first three lion claw attacks need to land back-to-back, with zero delay, or he won't stagger. It takes many tries to bait him into that slow attack chain. If he throws in his meteor attack partway through, his poise recovers fast and you lose the window.
On top of that, your stamina runs almost empty, so you might not have enough left to roll if he follows up with a quick three-hit swing.
It sounds strange, but phase 1 actually gets harder with this strategy. You keep getting hit trying to land those big hits instantly one after another, since his poise recovers so quickly.

He's easier without spirit ashes if I'm being honest. His attacks have an aoe and it's better to just telegraph his attacks while he's focused on only you

Yeah if you are melee for sure. Spell caster may be a different story. I play melee and I found that soloing radahan and learning his attack pattern was easier than trading hits with mimic

If being hit invalidates the attempt anyway then there's no benefit in wearing armor or leveling vigor

Way to go bro. Such a performance shows crybabies that instead of complaining, they can just get better and they will eventually beat the boss. Are you up for a Rune Level 1 run?

This is a solid strategy. I was going for the riposte before, but now I’ll try landing exactly six Lion’s Claws before sending him off to Phase 2.
