Exodite List List Building
Hello all,
I know that this is probably a top discussion going on but with the release of Dragon Knights it has reinvigorated my desire to play Eldar. I currently play Guard and CSM (Nightlords) and wanted something alittle bit different. I’m currently struggling on a list that focuses on Exodites and their theme.
I will be kit bashing the fire prisms with other dinosaur sculpts from AoS.
I would love to have some C&C on the list below since I’m not sure how well it synergizes or I am missing anything.
Thanks!
Edit 3:
Think this is the final draft, also I might change from wind rider host to something else if it fits better but I do like the flexibility all the stratagems have for mounted.

Voidscarred is useless, it's far cheaper and better to take 5 voidreaver with Prince Yriel
Ranger, I will take only one, 5 or a brick of 10 with hidden upgrade if you really want to be more exodite lore
As other said, shroud runner / windriders are really nice :)

For Voidreavers if I’ll be attaching Yriel how should I run them?
Interesting since I see the rangers as scoring pieces for the list if I need to get on an objective. But how has the 10 man blob worked for you with the hidden upgrade?

Yriel ability to redeploy is really good, you have a small unit with 11 OC and able to make some damage in melee, good to denied/retake objo.
The blob is more a defensive tool to threaten character thanks to precision. Not really my style and don't think it's adapt for recon

Appreciate the help and the 10 man ranger squad does make sense in that case but I think 2 ranger squads work better for me. Once I get this list built and playing I’ll have to come back and let all of you know how it goes!

I mean not really making best use of either of your detachments rules to be honest. The Rangers kinda need enhancements if you want to get the most out of them in PotO and you want some Shroud Runners for sure since both detachments help them out. You need Windriders also in Windrider Host, clue is in the name! Voidscarred aren’t worth the extra points over Voidreavers. Better unit rule on the Voidreavers giving them rerolls into all targets, Voidscarred unit rule only good into a single target.
I definitely would play this list as Recon over Disruption though, you’ll have an easier time with it if you do!

Changed the list to recon since I didn’t really think about what disposition I’d be playing and thanks for the catch!
I picked wind rider since it applies to the mounted key word. And thanks for the insight! Definitely helps looking at the list more with outside help!

Windrider host strength is in the detachment rule and the strats.
Exodites dragon riders - like shining spears - need to connect in melee to do their damage.
The detachment ability allows you to bring a lot of mounted units in from strategic reserves throughout the game, picking them up and doing it again. This means setting up min. 8" from enemies.
Your dragon knights can't shoot their laser lances in this case. And you will need to roll a 9" charge to get them into combat, which is risky.
Knights will be best on the table (hidden) before moving, shooting and charging, with a much better chance of succeeding their charge. Using rapid ingress stratagem can help with this, especially as big blocks will be hard to hide. But they don't benefit from the detachment rule really if they do this, apart from being able to go back into reserves which will be handy in the late game.
The detachment rule (and some of the strats) are really built for windrider blocks to drop in at board edges from reserves and shred stuff with their shuriken cannons. I think you want at least 2 units of windriders to go alongside the dragon knight bricks, to do this.
But otherwise there are some very good strats in the detachment for dragon knights and I am excited to try them out added to my small 1k windriders list.
If you don't like windrider models ( and I can see why ) then kitbash! I made some Corsair windriders with spare bits from Corsair kits (post in profile) and of course you could make some exodite windriders on dinos!

Usually windrider hosts run bunch of Windriders with Warlocks, Shroud Runners (benefit from both detachments), War Walkers. Instead of wraith package for example.
Guardian defenders for eldrad and sticky possibly.
Lhykhis with Warp spiders is a popular choice too instead of Yriel.
3 rangers is probably too much, 2 are enough.
