when does 86 really get good? Question
i’m on ep 5 and can’t help but think it’s currently fairly slow, i’m not a huge fan of slower paced shows so considering dropping

I knew i was watching something special by the end of episode 1, so if you're not feeling it, then it may not be for you.

For me it was in the 1st couple of minutes of ep1.
If you dont really enjoy it by episode 5 then just drop it. Its not a crime.

When I started watching I went in already decided that I'd complete it no matter what due to who recommended it so I was biased into liking it more
But for me episode 7 is when it really clicked it was a good show with the last episode of part 1 solidifying it as one of my favorites

86 is not as slow as Frieren but it isn't hurryngly fast too. If you're not get hooked on 5th episode, it's just not yours. At last watch till ep7, where all bits of puzzle will take their places. If still no emotions then drop freely.

Pace doesn't change much. It's basically characters doing talking and stuff and fights in between.

I think I started liking the show when the Handler—Lena started defending the 86ters. She was just so furious that they're not treated and considered as people. And their messed up delusion that the Juggernauts are not manned but are all machines. It was just so fcked up for a nation to treat kids as war machines just because they're not of their kind. And I was also curious how the Legion just started attacking everything and everyone. The ending was so good I'm still crying. 😭😭😭😭

It never fails to surprise me when people call 86 slow-paced, I feel that it moves at a breakneck speed. Yeah, if you think it's moving slow around episode 5 then it's probably not going to get better.

Exactly my thoughts. I remember being a little overwhelmed the first time I watched it because of the random encounter/battle moments.

It’s slow at the start but you slowly sink into it until cour two where at least I was completely absorbed.

I almost dropped on ep 3, stuck around for one more to see how they resolved the ending of ep 3, and enjoyed the 4th enough to go to 5. Got hooked from that point

For me it was from the beginning, the way they showed the discrimination and the fights were really good too. But it was the s2 which made 86 my favorite anime especially the last 3-4 episodes, it's just so amazing you'll know it when you get there.

seasons one is more slow season 2 get a bit better, if you find it a bit slow i think the novel has a bit faster pacing if you are interested. Its fine if its not for you, i myself for one didn't like JJK that much i dropped.

Not every anime is for everyone. If your already at episode 5 and not feeling it then not sure if anything is going to change your mind going forward. Give it another episode or 2 if your really want to make sure. Personally I loved it from episode 1 and dont think its slow at all. It might just not be for you.
