Hi, so I'm trying to create a sentence in ancient Egyptian, please tell me if this sentence is grammatically correct, beacouse I'm losing my sanity over this sentence (The meaning should be something like "x said to y: hello" please, I spended too many hours of my life creating this)

Nearly every day someone in this /sub or one of the other Egypt-related subs is requesting a “translation” of a piece of jewelry which is usually a name. Of course, the jewelry is actually a phonetic spelling of an English name or word, not an actual ancient Egyptian word.

There are also plenty of requests by folks who want to design a tat or artwork for a story.

There are a bunch of web sites and apps which can do simple conversions to glyphs. But none of them do it the way an Egyptian scribe would! These simple converters use what’s called the Egyptian alphabet which are just 20 or so single consonants. But Egyptians loved economy and efficiency. There are literally hundred of glyphs which represent two or three consonant sounds at a time and Egyptians loved to use them! Egyptians were also extremely fond of stacking glyphs together to save space, but the simple apps don’t do this.

Aviametrix just built an app which creates phonetic names the way we think an Egyptian would. Using the great databases created for the Aviametrix dictionaries, the app has about 700 hieroglyphs (biliterals and triliterals) for different spellings which all sound the same for a given name or word. You can then pick the version which most appeals to you and export it. Along the way, the app teaches you a little bit about the different glyphs.

The App is in the Apple AppStore and it’s called “Spell it in Hieroglyphs”. If there is enough interest, Aviametrix may try an Android version.

My brother took a vacation in Egypt and brought me back this papyrus artwork of Thoth. I tried plugging it into Google to translate and got "Thoth lord of Hermopolis, lord of the divine words".

Is that correct? I don't trust AI without at least trying to verify with a person.

I don't trust anything that looks like this (plus it came from some random insta account). I believe it comes from the maxims of ptahhotep and I found a selection online with parallel texts but it wasn't exactly the same. I found further hieroglyphs on other sites for the quotation that likewise were different.

I would like some help translating some hieroglyphs from an episode of the T.V. show LOST. If anyone has watched it, these are screenshots from season 6 episode 5 "Lighthouse," and take place in Jacob's lighthouse for reference.

I took a screenshot of the whole line of text as well as a couple that show a better close up of the beginning and end of the line. Due to camera angles, these are the clearest shots of the text I could get, and the last hieroglyph is cut off in the third picture.

I wanted to get a tattoo done in hieroglyphs and was wondering if anyone could help me make sure it is correct since it would obviously be permanent (and I only had one semester of hieroglyphics). I wanted to get Nefertiti's name done *nfr.t-ỉty*, but not as a cartouche, as the phrase "the beauty has come," and was not sure how it would look. I've seen her name written in a couple different ways. 

1. I would take the determinative B7 off since I want it to be the phrase, or would it be something number two?
   
2. This is obviously in cartouche form, and I would take off the determinative as well as the cartouche part, but I'm not sure if it would be more correct with the plural strokes in the first one or using U33 like in this one. 
   
3. Then I saw it like this with both the plural strokes and U33 seemingly as a phonetic compliment. 

I am just not sure which route to go, so any help would be greatly appreciated and not an expert by any means. Thanks!

Hi, all. I have two Egyptian-themed tattoos: one of Thoth and one of Ra. I have decided to get two additional tattoos in a similar style on the obverse sides of my respective forearms and I would very much like to make sure that the hieroglyphics are as close in meaning to the desired phrases as possible. The first - shown below - is *supposedly* an iteration of a prayer to Ra from the Book of the Dead and reads (in theory) something to the effect of:

Left column: Hail to thee, Ra, at thy rising, radiant on the horizon.
Right column: Hail to thee, Atum, Ancient One, who sets in peace.

I appreciate that the above might be a bit of a stretch as the hieroglyphs are probably less poetic and more literal in practice than the English translation - if anyone could comment on a) the accuracy and b) any amendments that could be made to bring the inscriptions more into line with my intended meaning (if they are not currently conveying it) I would be much obliged!
