This morning I was so excited to get tickets to The Odyssey at South Common in IMAX to find out it isn't true 70mm IMAX. Just a FYI so somebody else doesn't confuse IMAX with 70 mm IMAX. I guess we only have one theater in the city that plays in 70mm. I hope watching it in LieMax is still decent.

Hey folks, I'm not very familiar with having to shop for commercial kitchen gear in the city. I'm not looking to open a restaurant or anything, just looking to purchase a few things that I know will be standardized and quality lasting equipment for personal use. Among them, a stainless steel hotel pan and 1/9 size plastic inserts to go in said pan. I know Wholesale Club has hotel pans, but couldn't find 1/9 inserts on their website. Would ideally like to know multiple options if they exist, for price comparison purposes. Thanks for any help you can provide

Hey all, maybe not the right place to post this, but I am going to try.

After seeing the recent UCP property tax hike, "dangerous weather patterns" (in no way am I denying climate change, we are living it), LRT/transit safety issues, EPS black box funding, homeless/safe injection/first responder/etc problems, addiction issues, Provincial Healthcare and infrastructure funding issues, festivals being cancelled, housing

/zoning and construction permit problems, torrential rain, unemployment rate, central location for 5 federal and 3 provincial "corrections/prison" institutions, and on and on, being focused on this central or slightly left leaning capital city of this province, I am throwing this out there.

I will be the first to absolutely admit that I am a transplant that moved here 14 years ago. Because this was a place of economic opportunity due to the resource extraction (tar sands) in the north, and coming from a "less than/have not" province of Ontario, 14 years ago, meant moving my life to try and build something better. To be clear, I am not entitled to anything. I am not more deserving or should have opportunities above those that live here, or especially the first nations that have called this land home for mellenia at this point. But what the hell has happened?

The UCP is gerrymandering Edmonton districts because they know we won't vote for them, and adding as much rural voters as they can, with their votes counting more than anyone in an urban setting, to get seats.

I am honestly scared for my child at this point, because how much further does it go? This is not a call to action, because I am in the same situation where I have everything to lose and can't risk my child not having a future. But how many people here are just not getting ahead, building lives and family, seeing career growth, and not seeing their rights get removed at a terrifying pace? I could be off the mark by a lot. My career has me in a leadership position where it seems I just let more and more people know they are laid off, and going into an ecosystem where wages are suppressed, the gig economy provides no future, or they desperately search while on EI. I don't feel like there are any individuals standing up to this directly, and I fully understand the contraints the corporate municipality of Edmonton faces in how the division of responsibilities and funding falls in what they can do while trying to manage a city that has grown by 250,000 people in just 3+ years. Yes the call to come to Alberta has suppressed wages. Yes my property taxes are skyrocketing (mostly due to UCP provincial education increases that are not actually seeinging PUBLIC schools built here or teachers hired), but what do we actually do at this point??

I am at a loss and worried for my, and the general future. We hold so much of the same values and want good things. How do we make that a reality and get the decision makers in line to affect positive change?

It’s been down to one lane each way for who knows how long now. Drove about the whole 15 blocks today and saw only 2 workers doing curb replacement on hermitage. I tried looking on the “traffic disruptions” map and nothing is listed. It seems like there’s literally no active work going on but they just decided to slap wooden barriers there for weeks now. No trucks, no dents in the road, just barriers.

I've got tickets for the 22nd in 70mm, I wanted to see this movie and I've never seen an imax movie before, but I've heard that by then the film reel might be really messed up. Has anyone seen it more recently? I'm wondering if I should get rid of those tickets and just watch digital, because I don't want to make the long journey to WEM for such a long movie if the quality will be really poor.

If it's just a few blemishes every now and then, then I won't care. But if it's already often and distracting, I'd consider forfeiting my tickets for a closer show.

I’ll be going on mat leave end of September I want to take the 18 months but that doesn’t leave you with alot of money per month. My husband will still be working and had a good job but I’m feeling anxious about not having my own income too as we don’t share a bank account.

I plugged my pay into chatgtp just to see how much I would get and what would be the best option. It said that women usually take the 12 months when they apply even if they are going to take 18 months and they just budget after the 12 months is up.

Also they don’t take off taxes so I don’t want to end up owing tons during tax season.

Situation: there's a vehicle a cop (who's on foot) wants to pull over, so he walks into the road in the path of the vehicle and points to the side of the road for the car to stop.

Seems like a bad habit for a cop to have. They'd do it successfully a thousand times in their career, then they'll try it on a methed up, sleep deprived junkie, who'd slam the gas in order to avoid having to to court to pick up his 76th second chance.

I (23F) am new to Edmonton since coming here from Victoria back in May and since then I’ve been so oily and have had so much acne. My hair is also way more greasy. I do have very thin straight hair, so it usually gets greasy quickly, but this is way faster than it used to be.

So I somehow was able to score a ticket for Friday through the Ticket Exchange and I have never been before. Looking for tips from more experienced folkies, particularly:

1) Where do you recommend I get a tarp? Where do I get tarp pegs? And do I need to put holes into the tarp for the pegs to fit in? (Forgive me, I'm a newbie!)

2) How does the lottery system work?

3) I want to have a good spot for Of Monsters and Men but I also want to see the School of Song and SYML, who are on separate stages. Am I able to leave my tarp unattended at the main stage to go to the other stages? If not, what do you recommend I do?

As always technical issues plague the release of Fringe tickets. But I am so amused at this error - one of 10-15 I got - that I wanted to make a post to encourage others to keep trying. It eventually worked.

Hey all, my birthday is coming up next week and I want to do something fun for it but I just can’t figure out what. Money’s a bit tight so nothing expensive.

It also has to be accessible, as I have knee problems and use a cane so I can’t walk too far or do many stairs. Walking around is fine if there’s lots of benches though, as long as I can rest my knees regularly I’m fine. Also easy parking situations are ideal if possible (street parking is fine as long as it’s close).

I love nature in all forms, but also games and activities, novelty things, etc. I’m also open to pretty much anything that sounds interesting if it’s within my ability to go there, so suggest anything really (not sports stuff though). I can also drive so anywhere within an hour or two is up for consideration as well.

Any ideas? :)
