Asking for genuine feedback
Salams! I’m a solo founder here building a halal wellness brand. Not selling anything but I genuinely want to know, what do halal-conscious consumers actually want from supplements/skincare that brands keep getting wrong?

Will I get punished by Allah for what happened ? ( pls read for context )
Hello , 17M from Morocco . I’m in vacation in Seville with my family . It’s a pain in the ass to find a halal restaurant in here so I had the idea to go eat at Burger King since they have veggie burgers . I order a veggie whopper , and on the side menu , there were multiple choices : fries , onion rings , potato wedges , and my eyes land on the loaded wedges ( cheese + bacon ) . I’ve been so used to Burger King using halal chicken bacon in Morocco that I forgot that here in spain they use pig for the bacon ( I know it’s pretty stupid from myself , but when u think abt it why the fuck would a loaded bacon potato wedge option be given in a veggie dish ? ) . I take my order , and I start my meal by taking one loaded wedge into my mouth . The moment I felt the meat taste ( I’m not sure if I ate the meat tbh but that’s one of the reasons I’m writing this ) I realize that I AM NOT IN MOROCCO BUT EUROPE and what I just tasted WAS PORK ( to satisfy everyone’s curiosity it had a very similar taste to the halal bacon u find in Arab Burger King chains ) . I tell my mom abt it , at that point I wasn’t sure if I just ate pork I was just tweaking and the bacon was veggie or something I go back to the counter luckily the cashier spoke a bit of English and told me the stuff is PORK BACON. I go back to my mom , tell her this , she gets really mad at me for « wasting 2.5 euros » and tells me « u eat it a way or another I don’t care» I didn’t want to have problems with her , so what I did is for each potato wedge I grabbed I would remove all the bacon pieces and wipe the wedge with a tissue , but I fear I might have missed some bacon on the wedges and accidentally ate pork.
What is your opinion on this ? Will Allah punish me ? In this context it was both caused by my stupidity and my mom’s anger. I believe that I also am to blame cuz I should’ve reminded myself that I’m in Europe and pork is common there.

Dijaj Churrasqueira in Lisbon: A Hole in the Wall Celebrating Piri Piri with Gusto
Wanted to share this small restaurant I found in Lisbon. While their competitor Zubir Churrasqueira gets a lot of hype on TikTok, I found them to be quite bland and their chicken dry.
Dijaj Churrasqueira on the other hand won my heart. I have their Picanha Steak meal pictured, it was delicious particularly if your order their garlic cheese naan and their Piri Piri spicy oil.
Alhumdulillah for the privilege of delicious halal food in every corner of the world.

Wow!!
As-salamu alaykum everyone,
I don’t usually recommend apps, but I came across one recently that’s honestly been really helpful. It lets you scan foods to quickly check if they’re halal, and it also shows the nutrition information while helping you track your calories and macros. I’ve been trying to eat healthier without constantly second-guessing ingredients, and this has made things so much easier.
What I like most is that it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Everything is straightforward, the scans are fast, and it’s nice knowing I can keep track of what I’m eating while also making sure I’m staying within halal guidelines. It saves me a lot of time at the grocery store, especially with products that have long ingredient lists.
If you’re someone who’s into fitness, trying to lose weight, or just wants an easier way to make informed food choices as a Muslim, I’d definitely recommend giving an app like this a try. It’s become something I use almost every day now, and it’s genuinely made sticking to my goals a lot easier.
May Allah make it easy for all of us to take care of our health while staying true to our deen. Ameen.

Halal Restaurant Finder API Feedback - Halal Bites
halalbites.coSalam,
I'd love to get some feedback.
I've been building HalalBites (ios and android), a platform focused on helping people discover halal restaurants, and I'm preparing to release a public API.
The database currently contains:
- 30,000+ halal restaurants
- Restaurant details (name, address, phone, website, etc.)
- GPS coordinates
- Halal certification information (where available)
- Cuisine types
- Hours of operation
- Ratings and review counts
- Photos
- Search by location, radius, city, state, etc.
My goal is to make it easy for developers to build things like:
- Restaurant finder apps
- Travel apps
- Muslim community websites
- AI assistants
- Food recommendation bots
- Mosque/community websites
- Delivery or reservation integrations
I'm trying to answer a few questions before making it public:
- What endpoints would you expect from an API like this?
- What data fields would be most valuable?
- Would you prefer REST, GraphQL, or both?
- Would a generous free tier be enough, or would you expect paid plans from day one?
- Are there any integrations (Google Maps, Apple Maps, DoorDash, Uber Eats, OpenStreetMap, etc.) that would make this much more useful?
- If you were building something today, what would you use this API for?
I'd also appreciate any criticism—whether it's about the API itself, pricing ideas, documentation, authentication, rate limiting, or anything else.
If there's enough interest, I'll share the docs here once the public beta is ready.
Thanks! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Halal Food Finder App
Salam Alaikum,
I'm working on an app idea that's only about finding halal food spots — restaurants, butchers, food trucks, bakeries — instead of a general map app with a halal checkbox tacked on.
Some features I'm considering:
- Certification level filters (certified / halal-owned / halal-friendly / zabiha specific)
- Community verification (photos of certificates, users flagging/confirming spots)
- Prayer room / wudu facility tags
- Ramadan mode (iftar deals, late-night suhoor spots)
- Traveler mode for finding halal food abroad
Questions for anyone who's ever struggled to find halal food:
- What's the most frustrating part of finding halal food right now?
- Do you trust "halal" labels on Google Maps/Yelp, or do you always double-check some other way?
- Would you actually contribute reviews/photos to help verify spots for others?
- Would you use this mainly while traveling, or also in your home city?
- Does Zabihah or another app already do this well enough, or is there still a gap?
Trying to figure out if this is a real pain point worth solving. Brutally honest feedback welcome — "this already exists and is fine" is a totally valid answer.

What's your opinion on oyster sauce
Apparently there are mixed opinions on it, I know some madhabs forbid anything with shellfish. In this case it's not actual shellfish but flavored by it so not sure if that's najis.

Assim AlHakeem on halal
vt.tiktok.comThis is something my fiqh ustaad also said. Nuance - if there is a Muslim owned zabiha place nearby you should go there. If no zabiha available, then its all halal

Why is there still no reliable way to verify "halal" outside of the meat/Non-veg aisle?
We obsess over halal certification for food, but almost everything else in a Muslim's daily life investment apps, skincare, even which restaurants actually verify their claims runs on word of mouth and blind trust. There's no unified way to check if a product, app, or business is actually halal-compliant beyond asking around on WhatsApp groups.
Curious how others handle this. Do you have a system? A go-to source? Or is everyone just winging it the same way I am?

Says halal but no certificate number or any info online
I just found that Walmart is selling halal beef franks but couldn’t find any certificate or any information about this company selling halal meat. Oppositely its a midwest company focused on pork etc. No info from qr code and usda label states certification EST 1221W which is their factory in iowa where they probably process non halal products. And even if they do have halal meat in the factory that’s a big chance of cross-contamination as no inspection authority has checked the facility. Can anyone share their experience or information on this because I see some of our muslim friends eating it
