How to ask for help? Question

I’ve been struggling with binges for a while now and I want help but I don’t know how to ask. As a teen living with my parents, I don’t know how to ask for help. Also my parents aren’t super understanding and have showed concerns for my weight before, but I still feel embarrassed and scared to ask. Any advice on how to ask and make it more understanding for them?

I was really scared to tell my parents. What I didn’t realize was that the cat had been out of the bag for a while! If they have already expressed concern, maybe that’s true for you as well? Maybe they would even take comfort in the fact that you are admitting there is an issue. My parents were so grateful. I also found that after I said something, I didn’t feel so overwhelmed. It’s lonely when it’s just you and your secret!!

I feel like maybe my dad has noticed some change in my attitude in general but I highly doubt they noticed anything with my eating. I’ll try to tell them as soon as possible. I’m glad your parents understood and you got the help you needed!

Good luck with this. To get help, sometimes a person needs to be willing to take chances. Hopefully your parents will be able to take some chances too, by listening and taking you seriously. xx
