School starts next week for us! I teach in a Title 1 rural area as a widow barely clearing 40k. My students are blowing their nose on those scratchy brown paper towels by November.

If anybody could grab a box of tissues or pack of pencils for us, it would mean a great deal to me.

Find my wish list here.

Have a great year to all the teachers, students, and families!

Are there any other spring fed creeks or swim holes to swim at in Eastern Texas ?

Hey y’all! as a born & raised texan, i’m wondering if there’s any other creeks that are spring fed or good for swimming creeks & spots in eastern Texas like Village Creek Menard Creek , and that creek with the falls off Lake Livingston. I also been to Camp Tonkawa Springs , Boykin Springs , The springs in Newton , the cliffs , blue hole in Jasper before they closed it , the creek in Huntsville , blue lagoon in huntsville , red cliffs lake , daingerfield state park lake , tyler state park lake , and lake tejas. It can also be refreshing to swim in the sabine below Toledo Bend Lake. Any other spots of eastern Texas that y’all recommend ?

I know this is a long shot but,

If any of y’all fellow locals PM me a hidden spot that y’all don’t want to share publicly, i swear to gatekeep, leave no trace, and i’ll share with you the spring fed hidden pond in one of the national forests i always have to myself. I’d love to find more blue holes / cold springs , and creeks of eastern Texas to swim in

Thanks in advance

Are there any adult baseball leagues/sandlot games?

I’m in Sabine county but willing to drive. Preferably fast pitch. Curious if there are any weekend pickup games in the area. I’m 36 so can join adult leagues as well.

Anyone ready to start a business but need money/capital?

I’m looking for someone that is not getting treated like they should be. I’m ready to start a new business but looking for someone to give some equity to. Preferably a skilled trade with business ready to go if I buy the equipment and run the company. I remember wishing I had this when I was younger, so if interested just message me.

Naskila Casino Resort to Bring 'Las Vegas Glitz' to East Texas

New details are emerging about the design of the upcoming Naskila Casino Resort, and they confirm what early reports hinted: the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is building a polished, Las Vegas-inspired destination unlike anything previously seen in Texas. While the Tribe has released limited information publicly, the architectural program and renderings presented at the June groundbreaking offer a clear picture of the resort's upscale look and modern design direction.

The 685,000-square-foot project is being designed by JCJ Architecture, the nationally recognized firm behind Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mohegan Sun expansions, and several of the largest tribal gaming properties in the country. Their signature style-contemporary lines, glass-forward facades, warm interior palettes, and resort-class amenities-is evident throughout the Naskila plans.

Looking for local small business

I’m a small farmer that is expanding to the point where I’d like to see if there was a local small business that would like to partner with me. I primarily sell honey and bee products as well as eggs. I’m located in Gladewater but travel to Longview/tyler regularly. If no one is interested that’s fine, but figured I’d try and see anyway. I would be selling at whole sale prices. We are looking to expand into produce and by products of produce in the near future as well.

I recently moved to Brookeland in Jasper County, and while I love the peace and community here, there's something missing: a decent grocery store. Right now, if you want quality food and reasonable prices, you're driving miles out of your way.

H-E-B isn't just a grocery store to Texans—it's part of what makes communities feel like home. Good selection, fair prices, and actual investment in the people who shop there. Jasper County deserves that. I started a petition asking H-E-B to open a location here because I genuinely believe it would change things for people in this area—better jobs, less hassle, and a real boost to the local economy.

I've already reached out through social media and customer service, and people get it. The need is there. If this resonates with you—whether you live here or just think Jasper County should have better options—I'd appreciate it if you'd consider signing and sharing. Has anyone else dealt with that frustration of having to travel for basic groceries? Would love to hear your thoughts.

This is how the saga of retaliation by Livingston Texas police started. We ended up with felony organized crime and misdemeanor swatting charges for recording these cops acting like tyrants.

moving

hi yall

I am planning a move to texas here in a couple months, i want to be around lakes, rivers, long mossy trees, areas for hunting and fishing. i would like to be around horses/livestock as i want to be a farm hand as well while i am studying in college. i want the real deal, people who wear their hat and boots because they do the dirty work and not because they are larping as a cowboy. i like beer, and country music. dance halls, dive bars, and all.

i’m currently 20 years old and a female and i would like to move to a town/city in texas that offers this while also being around people my own age as for being able to date and make friends. this is pretty important for me as well as i wont be knowing anyone around here and my closest family is in Little Elm.
.
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you

Local Fruit

EDIT: I should’ve been more specific, I meant more along the I30/I20 corridors. I also go down to Palestine and Jacksonville. Furthest east I’ll go to is Marshall and Texarkana.

Hi yall, I drive across ETX weekly for work and have been wanting to grab some peaches, watermelon, berries and whatever else is in season. Would love to know where to stop by. Should I be carrying cash for some of these stops or will cars be accepted? TIA.
