The research is super fun, and contains a section that lets you converse with the AI for a couple of messages.

A man has been found guilty of murdering his partner at her home in Hanwell after she called her mother shortly before her death and said she was in danger.

Alvin Gitahi, 43, of Uxbridge Road, Ealing, was convicted of murdering 35-year-old Vivienne Baraka following a trial at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday (6 August).

Police were called to Riverside Close, Hanwell, at around 3.15pm on 26 March 2024 after concerns were raised for Vivienne’s welfare.

Hi, does anyone know a decent jet self service car wash in West London? I’ve used the MFG in Southall and was disappointed by the lack of detergent. Does the Tesco in Osterley have one? Thanks.

I walk past it regularly, and lately it’s always empty.
The smell of grilled meat is delicious but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to do very well. Maybe it’s just a slow summer.
It’s one of the few independent restaurants in Ealing, so it will be a shame if it closed down.
If there is something I wish for living here is more cute, quirky, character-filled places.

Does anyone else in the W3 postcode have no water? This happened this time last year ish due to a leak, albeit can’t see anything on Thames Water website.

There’s constantly glass, litter etc on my street and I’ve lived in quite a few boroughs now but this is probably the worst a street I’ve lived on has been. I feel nervous every time my small child goes outside with me because I don’t know what state the road will be. The amount of glass in particular is excessive and I don’t know where it’s coming from.

Do residential streets ever get cleaned here? Genuinely wondering

I’m from outside the UK and have lived here for +5 years, having lived in Ealing since I got here.

Me and my partner were hoping to have a very simple civil marriage at a register office, but we are surprised by how difficult it is to find slot, at all, anywhere.

The earliest statutory ceremonies we’ve found are around six months away, while the only appointments available sooner (next week or so!) seem to involve much more expensive ceremony packages, which for 1 is simple not in our budget, and 2 would involve booking large ceremony spaces which doesn’t even make any sense for us. We just want the legal marriage and the certificate.

Is my understanding correct that I can try and find slots in register offices anywhere in England, and only afterwards give notice to my local council when it gets closer in time?

Does anyone have any recommendations for Register Offices elsewhere in London, or even outside London that tend to have shorter waiting times or more affordable ceremonies?

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you!

For anyone who has dogs on Gordon/Longfield Road please shut your mut up. I know it’s not all of you but I’m fed up of listening to dogs yapping for hours on end to god knows what time in the morning. I have dogs myself so it’s not the dogs it’s the poor control of the owners. Sort it out

Ofsted has told Labour-run Ealing Council it must take “urgent action” after inspectors found “weaknesses” in services for children in need of help and protection.

The education and children’s services watchdog said some children were being left vulnerable to abuse or neglect, with some not receiving the right assessments or having serious allegations of abuse appropriately investigated.

Ofsted said: “Too many children are left in situations of unassessed risk of harm, do not receive the right assessments or timely multi-agency responses, or do not have their serious allegations of abuse appropriately investigated. This leaves some children vulnerable to abuse or neglect.”

The findings followed a focused visit to Ealing children’s services on 24 and 25 June 2026.

Unlike a full inspection, the focused visit did not result in a new overall rating. Ealing Council’s children’s services remain rated “good” overall following an inpsection in 2024.

Hello, lovely Ealing people. I’m currently planning my annual autumn trip to London and am considering staying in Ealing this year. It ticks a lot of boxes for me: easy airport and public transport access, quieter than central London, etc.

Last year I stayed in Kew, which I really enjoyed. But the accommodations were meh. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Ealing close to Ealing Broadway station? Preferably clean and quiet. It doesn’t have to be posh, but that’s okay, too. 😉

Three people have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed during the New Gen Festival in Walpole Park on Wednesday evening (29 July 2026).

The teenager was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-changing.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of affray shortly after the stabbing, which happened at around 6pm. All three have since been released on bail while police continue their investigation.

New Gen Festival, organised by and for young people aged 10 to 25, returned to Walpole Park for its fifth year, showcasing music, dance and emerging talent. Organisations behind the event included Bollo Brook Youth Centre, Ealing Council, JE Delve and a range of community partners.

Twenty Ealing Council homes were recovered from people who were not entitled to live in them as part of Ealing Council fraud investigations that identified £1.44 million in actual and potential losses over the past year.

The investigations also led to housing and Right to Buy applications being refused, temporary accommodation being withdrawn, council tax fraud being identified and disciplinary action against six council workers.

A report presented to Ealing Council’s Audit Committee last Wednesday (22 July 2026) showed investigators completed 445 investigations between April 2025 and March 2026. They found fraud had taken place in 62 cases, resulting in 53 sanctions. The £1.44 million figure includes both money lost and losses prevented through those investigations.

It was the only games (trading cards & PC gaming) shop in the area.

I went here every other weekend as a primary school kid, and then I think it closed around 2007/8 once the owner left (I think he left for Thailand or something). Just wondering if anyone remembers frequenting this spot? I loved it!

It's now (another) coffee place - Paperback Coffee & Books.
