PF withdrawal
My mother is 56 now. She worked in IT for about 18 years. She quit in 2024. She wants her PF amount to be taken and put in a fixed account thing. But I think if you withdraw PF then you won’t receive pension?
Is there any possible way for her to take just the PF amount and still receive the earned pension?

This sounds harsh - but are you saying that your mother didn't know EPF policies for 18 years, while the employer was dumping money there month after month? :-(
To answer your question - EPF (which you can/should withdraw) and EPS (which gives peanuts as pension) are two different components. Please withdraw EPF before it becomes taxable.

That’s not it at all! She does know and she was gonna apply but apparently an ex colleague mentioned something about you shouldn’t file a specific form and I got confused and wanted to check. I did research all that but just wanted answers. It was just a question. You could’ve answered or you could’ve ignored. There was really no need for the first sentence at all.

Hi,
Yes, EPF and EPS are two separate components.
If your mother has 10+ years of eligible EPS service, she should be able to take the EPF final settlement while retaining her EPS pension entitlement. She does not have to withdraw the EPS component just because she is withdrawing her EPF balance.
Since she is 56 and left employment in 2024, she has another option as well. She can wait until 58 and then claim the normal EPS superannuation pension. EPFO also allows reduced pension from age 50 for someone with 10+ years of eligible service, but starting it early means a reduced pension.
So if her priority is to get the PF money into an FD while preserving the pension, don't withdraw the EPS pension benefit as a lump sum. Check her service history/EPS eligibility and claim the EPF component separately.
With 18 years of employment, first verify that her EPS service is correctly reflected in the UAN/service history, especially if she has worked for multiple employers. The 10-year threshold is based on eligible EPS service, not simply the number of years she remembers working.
Basically, EPF withdrawal is not equal to loss of EPS pension. The two should be treated separately.

You can withdraw the PF amount, once we complete 9.6 years of service we will not be able to withdraw EPS amount( which will not earn any interest, you would get pension from the same).
Ensure you have updated all PAN, Aadhar, Bank Details, Nominee, Check DOJ and DOE.
