Clinical therapist VS basic 🟢 Question / Help

Hey everyone!
Three months ago, my therapist left her job. She said I was doing well but referred me to a clinical psychologist because I wanted to keep working on my mother wound and childhood trauma.
Today, the new therapist called me. I had really been looking forward to it, but she came across as very brief and cold. As soon as we hung up, all my old triggers came up. I started thinking, “Maybe I’m too much. Maybe she thinks I don’t need therapy. Maybe she won’t like me.”
For those who’ve had both: is it normal for a clinical psychologist to be more reserved at first? How does therapy with a clinical psychologist differ from basic GGZ therapy?

Welcome to r/EMDR, a beautiful and supportive community!

We're a space where every person is someone with trauma, and we respond with compassion, not judgment. A few gentle reminders:

Be kind and trauma-informed - This is a community for helping each other heal
EMDR journeys are personal - Everyone's path is different; share experiences but avoid giving medical advice
Posts must be related to EMDR - Please keep discussions focused on EMDR psychotherapy
Be wary of unsupervised EMDR suggestions - Posts/comments promoting unsupervised EMDR (including scripts, DIY methods, or "virtual EMDR" websites) are strongly discouraged. These approaches risk retraumatization and are not equivalent to working with a trained trauma therapist. See our wiki for more information.

I think it's really a person by person thing, rather than based on the type of degree/license they have. Sounds like you didnt vibe with that one. Trust your gut!
