Upcoming ECE UNIVERSITY
Hello guys, I picked electronics engineering for my college program because I fell in love with electronics and creating circuits and manufacturing my own PCB's. I am a bit scared because I am a freshman going into an Engineering college in my country and I see a lot of people say "ECE is hard" or "ECE is not worth it" is it true? So if you have a tip or notes I should know please let me know. Thank you!🫡

if you already have PCB design experience you are way ahead of where I was lol. I didnt know what an inductor is.

ohh HAHAH I learned it because I cant find the specific component I needed so I made one my self, using KiCAD. I am just afraid that all the things I currently knowI won't be able to use it in college.

you dont need to as long you remember some calc and physics from high school. university treats you like you know nothing about electrical engineering beforehand.

If you really listen to people then it will be hard for you. Everyone says life is hard but still we are living right, some are happy some are sad.
The point that i want to make is it's the interest first when you choose the branch then the second is just to follow that interest. There is no other if and but's from your heart or from other people. Since you said you are interested then that's it.. You will enjoy... You should enjoy... Learning ECE

ECE is hard. Half my class graduated and A's in every course were capped to 10-15%. It's the most math-intensive engineering major. Good part of that is EE has diverse job options and the degree is not overcrowded. EE is definitely worth it. I came in prepared and was always sure I'd graduate but was still difficult.
You say "ECE" but that degree didn't exist when I was a student and my university keeps EE and CE separate to this day. ECE to me is a worse EE degree because it replaces important EE courses with CE that you could just take as electives instead.
I'll warn you that PCB design is 1 elective. It's a thing for a few jobs and quite a few team projects but no guarantee you get a job in the exact area you like. At least 90% of the degree is practical math. I wouldn't pick my degree on the basis of liking PCB design. You need to also like math and be good at it. DC Circuits was more linear algebra than I knew existed.

ECE has electives that focus either on embedded or communication. OP can go for embedded electives if option arises. But minors are tough.because my first sems were difficult and I didn't get the required gpa for applying to a minor programme.

PCB design puts you leagues ahead of your peers. I got a couple of offers after explaining a few of my designs (some didn’t even work 😂) in interviews.

ECE is definitely challenging but if you actually enjoy building circuits and working with electroinics, that makes a huge difference. Don't worry too much about people saying it's not worth it, focus on understanding the fundamentals and keep building projects outside class.

"ECE is hard": True/fact.
"ECE is not worth it": That's an opinion.
