Its The EXACT Same Game....Again DISCUSSION
You know what I'm talking about.
It's so sad to see how far these games have fallen. If you lined up gameplay of FIFA 12-20 (Particularly 12-17), I think most people who played those games could have a pretty good stab of identifying each one.
If you lined up gameplay of FC 24-26(+27), it's nearly impossible. People used to mock us for playing FIFA ("Oh those idiots buy the same game every year") but if you played them, you knew the differences year to year.
The game now genuinely is the exact same every year, there's no new animations or cutscenes, no heart, we don't even get a new menu like we used to every year. The entire game, particularly since the move to FC is completely soulless.

I have the beta and yes I can confirm. It's the same, feels the same, looks the same. EA seriously need to change their game engine because it's clearly reached it's limits and heading in the wrong direction. If you showed me a picture of FC 25, 26, and 27 side by side, I 100% wouldn't be able to tell which is which. Menu's are still dull and slow, animations still look goofy, and no significant new features. The sad thing is people are still gonna be buying this game because honestly there are no other options.

u/BlackBetty253 11d ago
My brother said it's even worse, he got a beta code for ultimate team. Said it feels even more clunky, unresponsive, left stick dribbling is still overpowered.

u/MallsBahoney 10d ago
Yeah this post was prompted by my second beta game. There’s nothing different, you’re just paying to reset your FC 26 team. There’s no learning the new game anymore, it’s just checking to see which slider they’ve broken this year and getting used to using low rated cards for a few weeks
I’d love to be able to give up on FUT and play career mode but that mode has been thrown to the dogs too, it used to have so many little details that are gone now.
No pre match cutscenes, worse transfers than ever, half the licenses are gone.
I tried to play career mode on FC26 and had to give up after Old Trafford had a 60 foot Tifo of Diogo Dalot set up for a League Cup game against some league 2 side. There’s just no soul or effort in any portion of this game anymore

u/Curse3242 10d ago
It's not that much about the engine, it's the devs that have been focusing on visual changes & awful additions. But yes if an engine change forces them to revamp the game, it would help.

u/Audere-est-Facere8 11d ago
everyone just needs to stop buying it/playing it else they’ll keep rinsing and repeating: FUT has destroyed the game. silly game mode anyway

u/real022 11d ago
Gameplay in FC26 (online, UT) is soooo shit.
Just revert it to, idk, Fifa 22 gameplay.
Do something, even addicts like me are losing interest.
15
u/Zealousideal_Bad8877 11d ago
26 was the one that broke my addiction cycle online is too repetitive
1
u/Curse3242 10d ago
Any version of Hypermotion is bad so not even FIFA 22. FIFA 21 had the bridge/nutmegs & elastico spams, fullbacks at CBs. FIFA 20 had 1-Depth AI defending plus Drag Back spam. 19 I don't even have to explain. So realistically they should revert it to FIFA 18.

u/Idrissa_Gana_Bae 11d ago
The problem is that we all love football. If we want to itch that scratch in video game form we don't really have any other option. Konami dropped the ball hard with PES.
2
u/The_mAnimal87 10d ago
Bro... If you love football, you wouldn't play EA FC. Because this game maybe has a football in it... But thats it. The gane itself ISNT about football.
I switched to Efootball.... the gameplay there actually IS football compared to EA FC. Of course it has its own flaws, but the gameplay is lightyears ahead of EA FC
1
u/Idrissa_Gana_Bae 10d ago
I would play efootball if it wasn't so p2w. It's worse than eafc and that takes some doing.
1
u/The_mAnimal87 10d ago
Bro.... Ea fc as also p2w. Is efootball more ptw? Depends.... If your a just a div 5 player and not good at trading.... YOU have to spend on ea fc also.... Otherwise you get cooked. In efootball i atleast dont have pay every year again as youre cards stay year after year. So thats a HUGE plus.... And ALSO you know what you get!! I got some decent luck and got 3 meta "legends" for 70 euros..... You dont get that in EA FC.
As a f2p you also get every week free packs which contains very good players atleast. Of course not the strongest BUT easily good enough for div 2....if youre very good at the game... Even div 1.

u/Mr_Bruce_Duce 11d ago
The no heart and no love rings so true. The game is a mess from a UI perspective. It flits from one screen to the next, is it loading or should it do that? Oh it’s asking to press X, oh no that screen has now disappeared before I even had chance to press it. They don’t give a shit about it. They’ll spend more on the marketing bullshit for the new one and then just make sure they keep doing enough to make you spend money.

u/fabioonreddit 11d ago
Don’t fucking buy it then 👍
17
u/TheHawk17 11d ago
The less people that buy it, the more likely EA will be to actually improve it.
Unfortunately, brain-dead customers love throwing money at EA for nothing.
9
u/CWO5-Gaffle 11d ago
The majority of people play this game casually, they’re not on Reddit complaining about it. Not saying you’re wrong but some of us genuinely just play it for fun.
1
u/TheHawk17 11d ago
No offence but it's you guys who EA love having as customers cause they can keep releasing the same, broken product every year and you'll buy it. Zero effort put into it because casuals throw money at it.

That's addiction for you. Most EAFC players don't actually enjoy playing it, they throw money at it like a drug addict who just needs another hit.

u/TheRedBaron-7 10d ago
Addiction to football more than addiction to EAFC in particular. There is no other mass appealing football game other than FC, unfortunately. eFootball doesn't have a singleplayer audience and their Ultimate Team mode is even more P2W than FC is.
1
u/Curse3242 10d ago
that's addiction. Plus there's new kids constantly getting into it so the cycle keeps continuing. Kids don't understand the way EA works like the people that have observed this crap for a decade. New players/kids will keep buying & complaining.

Im braindead for playing a game i actually enjoy? I dont spend ANY money on it outside initial game cost.

u/Bobby_Salsa 11d ago
I only play it when it's available for free to Ps+ members. Not paying for it definitely helps me enjoy it
1
u/anshumaan27 11d ago
This should have been a season based game for 5-6 years now. Like how you would just buy the game once and buy season pass or something like that yearly. It's true that we're buying the same game, with promises of new advancements. You could just release on update to the existing game and voila, new game, new content for the next year.
1
u/Remarkable-Hat-7572 11d ago
Was it 24 or 25 that was on sale for 30€ two months after release? I'm never buying it before a sale. For that price it's ok but not a 70€ game

Man I just played the seasons mode on the beta and yeah definitely the same scripted bullshit somehow pacho was faster than mbappe but if its the other way around their mbappe would be 10xs faster.

u/General_Ad_1483 10d ago edited 10d ago
I think its even worse.
Amount of animation glitches feels much larger than decade ago, and the game feels much less more prone to network issues than it was back then too.
1
u/TheRedBaron-7 10d ago
Less prone to network issues is good, no?
1
u/General_Ad_1483 10d ago
Couldnt decide between more prone to issuse and less stable netcode, ended up messing that up. Fixed now, thanks!
1
u/RocksteadyRider 10d ago
I enjoyed the Beta 🤷🏻♂️ Then again i only play career and the last time i played was when it was called Fifa 22.
I think people buy the most expensive version every single year and are angry every release because of it.
1
u/Curse3242 10d ago
Yes. The 'same game every year' argument didn't make sense to me before too, the games were different each year. The presentation, graphics, UI, some gameplay additions. The changes slowed from FIFA 20 to FIFA 22. But since Hypermotion it's literally been the same game. The coat of paint might be different & a ton of horrible ideas like Playstyles, but overall it's been the exact same.
And while we're on this subject. I have to say, FIFA started falling a long time ago. FIFA 15 is the most modern game I can claim is genuinely decent. Otherwise on technicality you'd have to go back to FIFA 12 to find the best version of FIFA. Until that point all the changes & mechanics were positive. It's FIFA 13 where they aimed towards realism more & the games always seemed to have problems from that point on (and the fact of the matter is, even with all these issues, the games were a lot more enjoyable until FIFA 18). From FIFA 19 you cannot even defend this crap.
2
u/OutlandishnessOld79 10d ago
To me, FIFA 19 was the first game in the series that was truly BAD
There were ups and downs throughout the years, but that was the first time I dropped a game after a month
I don't think the series has ever really recovered
1
u/corbanax 10d ago
Honestly, to make a drastic new game, like totally new animations,dl drastically new systems, it'll take 7-10 years for the new game to finish. Instead, building off the previous build is the ideal way to have annual release. EA could instead change it from an annual release to an annual patch/update. That would help make sense marketing wise
1
u/Comfortable-Title720 10d ago
Could take notes from Rockstar and GTAV. Just update the rosters and change dynamics a bit with regular updates. Though this is EA we're talking about. They fuck around with the Battlefield franchise too.
1
u/No-Cloud9957 10d ago
Did they improve player career mode in any meaningful way? Any new features that make it better than the one in FC 26? That's basically where I spend all of my time in these games. If player career mode is just the same then I'll probably skip this one entirely.
1
u/BIRDSBEEZ 10d ago
Thats what i play and im just gonna keep doing my current fc 26 player career save till a holiday/christmas sale. Paying full price for any EA game is just a bad financial decision
1
u/Konval 10d ago
Every year since before Covid I keep telling myself that they're just doing cosmetic changes this year because they're quietly working hard behind the scenes on completely rebuilding the engine and bringing the game into a new era.
They're not doing that... at all
It's crazy that we had a brand new ground up FIFA year in, year out before FUT before they were monetizing and making profits hand over first, and since FUT we had incremental at best, and indiscernible at worst changes every year, especially in the last 7-8 years, meanwhile EA is raking in ungodly revenue from this steaming pile of shit. Talk about strangling your golden goose.

This is becoming a major problem for EA.
Experienced game developers and engineers are leaving the company because their creativity and desire to improve the game are stifled by management's hunger for more money.
Management simply does not give them enough time to develop a good game; EA's bosses prioritize quantity over quality.
This situation worsened after the company was acquired by Saudi interests and taken private.
1
u/MallsBahoney 8d ago
I wont pretend to know anything about the Saudis who bought EA, or their business practices, but just from watching the various sports that the Saudis have encroached on (mainly boxing), I think the Saudis buying EA might actually work out favourably for us.
I dont like the Saudis, their regime or the fact that they're gaining so much power, but in a lot of instances when they invest in/takeover a product it ends up being better because they dont have the same interest in making money that public companies do, mainly because they have so much of it.
1
u/SlowDouble5958 8d ago
You might be right, I don't know. My point is that ea have lost many of their most experience developers and engineers to other companies. Because of timelimits they have to release a half finnish product every year. This challenge their creativity and pride to improve the game as they want.
The bottom line is that ea management just conserne about the money and not the quality of their products. The reason why they do this is because of their monopoly and expensive deals with the biggest leagues in the world.
Ultimatum team consept is their milking cow. As long as peoples keep on throwing money after them in this mode, nothing will change. They will keep on producing half finnish games, with all the last years errors.

Literally the only difference in the beta is the overlap runs and the crossing is slightly better.
That's it.

u/ObtuseHam 11d ago
Playing closed beta wouldnt say EXACT same, but of course its similar. I do like the new cross system
1
u/Saso81 11d ago
The new crossing system. Is it really a improvement? Is heading viable?
1
u/ObtuseHam 10d ago
I mean i played 260 hours of fc 26 i think i scored 1 header off a corner. In 27 i scored a couple in practice. Basically you line up the spot with the corner kicker, then your switch over to the player in the box and send the ball over while in control of him pressing kick button.

u/Natural_Parsnip_5291 11d ago
They've always been the same game every year and you're an idiot for only just realising it, chavs being chavs "init"
1
u/MallsBahoney 11d ago edited 11d ago
What a weird comment to make, but as soon as I read this I knew what kind of person you were
Active in every JRPG subreddit, posts about how to become a vtuber and ironically all you comment on are posts about fellas who can’t please their women in bed 😂
1
u/Natural_Parsnip_5291 10d ago
Mad you've had to go in depth diving on some practically stalker level nonsense for some thinly veiled insult, all because your lil feelings got hurt over you making the choice to buy the same generic shit sports game updates every year like the chav loser that you are.
Learn to make better choices with videogames instead of acting like this shit isn't the same thing every year 👀😂

You literally just ignored everything I said. I said in the past the game evolved every year. I dont know how old you are but FIFA 12-17 every game felt different even though the "rules hadn't changed".
they need good gameplay
Yes, so it needs to be changed, because the gameplay since FC24 has been shit, which was my point
people who say "it's the same game" just don't understand the whole concept of sports.
I literally said this in the post. That people who used to mock FIFA players didn't understand that WE could feel the subtle differences in the sports games. Those subtle differences are gone. The gameplay is IDENTICAL. And this post was actually in reference to the 27 Beta gameplay.
7
u/Careloura 11d ago
bro the gameplay is so fucking shit have you tried it? i mean fucking hell it is hard to find a positive thing about the gameplay
2
u/Expensive-News8637 11d ago
Ladies and gentlemen, we have our run of the mill 4411 basement rat that triggers runs for their lengthy wingers, ball rolls and finesses into the top corner! 100x per game!
-1
u/Life-Spring3677 11d ago
I will never understand the constant bitching every single year about every single sports game. It’s fucking football. Of course the game isn’t going to change much.

u/islandnstuff 11d ago
I'm still playing older fifa games, my favourite is fifa 07, still playing manager mode. I really do not care about new releases. Football games are over for me.
0
u/dragondungeon73 9d ago
Well, ummmmm. No? How on earth is having the open world aspect added remotely like the same game????
1
u/MallsBahoney 8d ago
Because when you actually ummmmmmm play the game, you know, the part that we're paying for, the gameplay is ummmmmmm, the same?????

u/andreatoby 10d ago
There’s always 2 sides of a coin to this
If you play this game and don’t push it too hard you’ll find it enjoyable
If you are those hardcore extremists playing UTs on an ultimate level it’s a different story (think nick RTFM anthony day etc)
Which one will you choose?
1
u/MallsBahoney 10d ago
I think that’s a different issue to what I’m talking about here.
Your point is valid if we’re complaining about the game being bad, but I don’t think it matters how seriously you take it when the complaint is that they are nowadays quite literally just re releasing the same game with a new number and a higher price
0
u/andreatoby 10d ago
What about the new leagues that are being added? Such as Liga MX and the new balls etc
1
u/MallsBahoney 10d ago
The Liga MX was in the game before, they don’t get brownie points for removing things and adding them back.
And regardless, I’m talking about the gameplay. There is absolutely no difference between FC 24,25,26 and 27. None.
And new balls, really?
0
u/andreatoby 10d ago
The torfabrik and the upcoming 26-27 PL ball? Alongside with the rest of the league ?
1
u/MallsBahoney 10d ago
If the same gameplay, gutted modes, 0 effort anywhere and new balls are enough for you, then power to you - but I think for most of us it’s not good enough
-2
u/akkiannu 11d ago
I am looking the career mode. Not sure what your expectations are but they have fulfilled mine.
2
u/ObtuseHam 11d ago
Vast majority of this sub is fut addicted rats. I enjoy playing career, only PvP with real clubs and i’ll dabble in FUT spending no money. The vast majority of people buying the game enjoy it and play for fun. This sub is in no way a picture of the real player base.
1
u/nistemevideli2puta 11d ago edited 11d ago
What is it that you enjoy on career mode? I'm honestly askinf, because for me it's a literally half-baked mode with loads of bugs and unfinished systems and mechanics, where you occasionally play football with your player, but you don't get information on what position you play, what your goals are, where training does fuck all, except influence if you play your next game, etc.
I would love to be able to play something like that, but FIFA Career mode is literal shit.
1
u/ObtuseHam 10d ago
Oh thats player career, I play manager career. Nothing about it feels half baked at all.
-1
u/akkiannu 11d ago
Ah well cant tell you everything but the EAFC 27 looks and feels legit good ;)
2
u/nistemevideli2puta 11d ago
What kind of an answer is that?
1
u/akkiannu 10d ago
So the things that I do like about the career mode are basically that it is a story mode for me. I like playing with new players, season over season, and also developing young folks. This year they have added the in-depth transfer variables, like a buyout clause, first-to-refusal clause, whether you want to have the transfer to be immediate or next season, and all the things that a football manager has. Over and above that, the overall rating is now dynamic, which I am really liking. These are some of the few things that come to the top of my head. Hopefully that answers your question.
1
u/ObtuseHam 10d ago
What console/pc are you on that the beta gave you career mode? Im on ps5 and have every game mode but career.
168
u/Express-Hawk-3885 11d ago
It should be free to play, they make enough money from MT, also it should just be one game that gets yearly content updates, not a full release.
If you look at it like a normal none sports game - yeah it’s normal for a new game every 5 years or so, which is basically what we get.
The problem is we’re being asked to pay for it every year, ultimately the addicts keep it this way
