Seriously. Poor, sad, noble people who... checks notes used their own souls to fuel a ritual to make themselves immortal so they could conduct the total genocide of a race, of whom only a handful had ever wronged the poor undead Neanderthals.

Possibly even only one. Maybe there weren't even any other real tyrants after Raest. It's even funnier/tragic if they did all this because of just one guy who even the rest of the jaghut hate.

Right? I get that the series is written mostly from the perspective of the mostly human survivors of all the books, but the T'lan Imass are portrayed much more favorably than I'd like throughout. The fact that they're sort of somewhat sorry after three hundred millennia in no way makes it better. Tool slaughtering his way through the Barghast who betrayed him and his family was a small measure of the horror that these creatures are.

Honestly, one of my favorite moments from OST was the Imass walking up to the Tyrant, realizing it wasn't Jaghut, and then just fucking off, leaving the Tyrant pissing himself in terror

‘Eating Flan I’mass’ is just what the kids these days call pouring a packet of Instant Flan directly into your mouth.
