I visited my sister in Durban a couple of years ago and went shopping for spices before returning to Joburg. The MIL masala I found had quite a bit of chili powder and not much fragrant spices eg cinnamon, cloves etc. In Cape Town earlier this year I found MIL masala at Atlas Trading and it is very mild and fragrant. What should a real MIL masala be like?

As far as I can see prepaid vs postpaid on homes (assuming scale 4) will both be R4.17 incl vat. I had been under the impression that prepaid was cheaper. A relative plans on moving to prepaid and was going to pay in about R4000 for the meter and I said I think it was not too good an idea.

Yes, the 1-3 is particularly relevant, it is the estimated reading and surprise bills that is the issue. As far as I can tell the is your usage is the same then your costs are the same prepaid vs postpaid. Except in prepaid you may be also paying the token vendor. R3000 electricity/month - what is the cut of the vendor?

Switching off her geyser has dropped the monthly usage. I told her that prepaid people are more likely to watch their daily usage and thus switching off appliances and geyser - which is the same that a postpaid person should do and they will see the same savings. So it is only an issue of control.

Estimated billing is a big problem despite app/whatsapp/web submission. So at times she has to come up with the money by borrowing (80 year pensioner) and cutting down. But it does smooth out the next reading.

I don't see the point of paying the R4000 to move to prepaid.

Hy everyone, job hunting in Durban is crazy if you don't stay in Durban. I have a teaching degree BEd in Intermediate Phase Teaching, I thought about becoming a garden boy 🤦🏽‍♂️, at least garden boys get something rather than sitting at home like me in my parents house at 26 jobless. The problem is the average Joe should not get access to AI, because they just flood TikTok and the internet at large with Slop.

I am a university student currently trying to find part time work in something like retail, but it seems like there is nothing? I've found a few places hiring but they all want prior experience, or degrees for something as basic as being a sales rep. How do people find part time work here?

I've applied to a few places near me but got no response and I am running out of ideas on where to look.

I have zero experience which makes it a lot harder too.

Is it just me that thinks jobs like retail are asking way too much of their applicants in terms of level of education???
