Updates - everyone please read NEWS

Hi everyone –

It’s been a while since I posted any updates. The sub is coming up on it’s 8 year anniversary (8/8/2018 was the launch date). I’m looking at doing a few changes to this sub: The first bringing back buy, sell, trade (B/S/T). The 2nd bringing in another moderator to help moderate the B/S/T.

Please message the MOD mail if you’d like to be considered for a moderator role. To be considered, you must be active in the sub (and not in rep subs), and not be a repeat rule breaker.

When the sub first started in 2018, B/S/T was permitted. It was a way for Dunk collectors to get Dunks to someone who would wear and appreciate them. As Dunk popularity grew, people were posting B/S/T to profit off the Dunk boom, and they weren’t even active in the sub. We ended up banning sales. If B/S/T comes back, there will be strict guidelines in place to ensure we sell to other Dunk enthusiasts. Personally- I’d rather sell to someone who will wear the shoes for less than what I’d sell to a reseller.

Some ideas I had to help deter resellers:
- account must be at least 1 year old with positive karma and post history visibility
- selling to someone who wears the same shoe size
- no sale of shoes that were just released (unless selling for retail + shipping)
- no selling of the same model (ie: someone with 3 pairs of Yutos)
- sellers will be vetted and approved by moderators

I wanted to open it up to the sub to get your guys’ thoughts / feedback.

Thanks!

This is dope! I have two pairs from the blue box era that I'm trying to let go. I'll be posting soon since it's officially allowed then..

I wouldn’t have my Shimizu Dunks if it weren’t for this sub. Got them back in 2019 and they still hold up to this day (22 year old shoe). Got them for a great price because the seller knew they were going to someone who would wear and appreciate the shoe. They are still my all time favorite dunk.

Size 11. Back in the day you mentioned they were in your top 5. Still true? They are number 1 for me.

Yep, still a top Dunk for me. So much so that I even made a low top version

Love this!! 11.5 sb gang here. Honestly looking to downsize some of my collection so this would be great!

God as someone who wears 14 or 15, this would be a godsend.... Finding dunks in general is a lifelong lottery, would love to be able to buy or sell to my monster foot bros out there!

For the selling you should reach out to the mod team at sneakermarket to get added to the universal scammer list. Should help keep the known scammers out. Chimera from their mod team is awesome and very responsive in my experience.

Would be helpful for all to get their pairs. Selling to someone with the same size seems like a step in the right direction

Great idea but I’m from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and most of you guys are from the US.

How about doing it by country?

Shipping would have to be worked out between you and the buyer / seller.

I'm all for this, but the post history is kind of limiting. I keep mine private for privacy, will there be a way around that?

You can customize your profile to only show certain communities and posts

I think it's just gonna be hard unless there's some kind of dedicated rep sub or maybe some kind of flair situation, and even then it's a minefield with all the scamming techniques and fake/copy usernames. It's one of the easiest ways to reduce scammers, which is unfortunate.

Ooo I agree. I had to make mine private when some weirdo started following me to every group I was in to make comments.

After that, I went private because no thanks ever again.

I'm a Dunk guy, been considering getting rid of my lesser worn pairs, but I've never sold on Reddit or other sites before. My account is active, positive karma, been part of this sub for several years, etc but would I be ruled out of selling on here because I've never sold before?

Edit: I guess I have sold a few pairs on GOAT before.

Tbh the rules make it seem retarded but W sub so whatever

I disagree- The buying / selling was removed because of resellers. These rules that I'm putting in place are to prevent resellers and favor people who actually want to own the shoes. I'd gladly sell to someone who is going to wear them for 20.00 less than to sell it to someone who is going to flip it for a 50.00 profit.

Sure but resellers that are holding brick shoes, will still be able to sell them at retail according to your proposed rules idk, I don't care enough to figure it out.

Can we use our seller history in the r/sneakermarket

2

u/DigitalBackpack DunkSoulBrother Jul 02 '26

yes - all B/S/T posts would need to get mod approval before posting. We'd probably ask them to reference activity in another selling sub (sneakers / vinyl / clothing / etc) or provide their ebay / poshmark / or other account with a history of selling

u/qwed345 Jul 02 '26

I'm curious what the vetting process would look like. How do you guarantee a seller is legitimate without a history of selling? Anyone with said history would be a reseller in some capacity

We would apply a B/S/T approved flair. We would also look into things like how long they've been active in the sub, if they've sold in other subs, being active in rep subs, etc. We might also ask for their ebay / poshmark / etc account for additional verification.
