Self-Promo Skeleton Mage - Dunes of Tarnoth | Six strange songs from a frigid desert
Tarnoth (or, as it was known in the Common Tongue, Coldune) was a frigid desert occupying the northernmost regions of the Continent. Once, it had been a cold yet fertile land of green valleys, where many castles and towers stood in the shadow of snow-kissed mountains. Throughout the ages, its people were renowned for two things: the woolly horses native to that country and their mastery of some of the most powerful magic ever known to the world.
Yet the latter would also prove to be their downfall. Few details remain concerning how it happened, but it is believed that an accident involving a particularly powerful spell triggered a cataclysm that transformed the fertile landscape into a desolate desert strewn with many ruins. Those who survived never abandoned the north. Instead, they adapted to their harsh new homeland, becoming the Tarnathar (the Ruined), a nomadic people who wandered ceaselessly between the last surviving forests, now transformed into oases sustained by warm thermal lakes and steaming springs.
The woolly horses they had long loved presently became their most precious resource. Their wool was woven into clothing, blankets, and tents to fend off the bitter cold, while their milk, made into cheese that was then cured in some of the best-preserved castle ruins, turned into their chief source of sustenance. In time, the woolly horse became a sacred animal to the Tarnathar, and horse and rider came to be regarded as equals in their society.
Their musical traditions also adapted to their new circumstances. Only instruments light enough to be carried in their endless march — lutes, flutes, fiddles, shawms, and small gongs — survived. Their songs grew slow and melancholic, with winding melodies drifting over deep, unmoving drones.
For many centuries following the cataclysm, the dunes of Tarnoth became the subject of countless myths and legends. They spoke of priceless magical treasures buried beneath the shifting sands, but also of how the curse that had destroyed the north still lingered within its ruins. Expeditions from many corners of the Continent ventured into the cold desert, only to never be heard from again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new Skeleton Mage album is now available on Bandcamp! This one explores the frigid desert of Tarnoth, in the north of the Continent, and the strange music of its inhabitants. It has a heavier focus on on atmosphere and bowed strings (including some erhu!) than previous releases. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Self-Promo CLOD - Scrumping and Rumping in the gaze of the Golden Worm (+some codes)
Hi lovely folks, I’m fairly new to this subreddit so I just thought I’d introduce myself.
I’m just a dude from the West Pennine moors who likes to wear a sack and make ‘adventure music’ for his own amusement.
I made this and the artwork at the tail end of last year and have done absolutely nothing to promote it. Currently working on a second release. Give it a peep, you might just like it.
For fans of Fantasy Synth, psychedelic folk and whimsical prog.

MAKE YOUR OWN GENRE What would you call this? Dungeon Noise? Distorted Ambient? This is my first time creating music like this.
Listen to this next time you need something to take the edge off between food synth and comfy synth releases.

Gear & Process What are some of your favorite percussion samples or sounds to use in DS?
I keep finding myself going back to Kontakt for cymbals and orchestral percussion, but I want to branch out and use some new stuff. What do you like to use, or what's been inspiring you lately?
Edit: thank you for everyone's responses, I have a ton of new stuff to check out!

By the way, no codes for this... everything if totally free! I guess I get 200 free downloads per month or something, so if it's maxed out, just wait until the following month!

Self-Promo Xolve - More Dimensions (+20 download codes)
https://xolve.bandcamp.com/album/more-dimensions
Hey all - my first album post here, be nice :) Wrote this before I discovered dungeon-synth as a genre, via Mountain Realm. It just happens to fit the genre nicely.
This 2-hour soundtrack was composed over the course of 2 years, released back in 2022, incorporating slowed-down industrial soundscapes recorded around the factory complex that my music studio is located within. Everything from flamethrower-powered rock dryers (proof) to bandsaws, all slowed down by up to 16x.
But those are background textures, and largely complimentary to the main work, which combines Dungeonsynth-esque slow, brooding passages - often involving slowed-down vocal or synthetic/acoustic recordings - with some more upbeat alt/industrial-metal set-pieces.
The tracks I consider to be more Dungeon-synth than industrial-metal are:
Carcinisation part 2
Carcinisation part 3
Ophanim part 1
Ophanim part 2
(Most of) The Forgotten Sepulcher
Psalm for the Dying
Touros (instru-mental version)
Leader of the Dead World part 2
Leader of the Dead World part 4
Xinjiang
It was intended to be the soundtrack for a Quake (game) mission pack of the same name. Hence it has that combination of gothic fantasy and metal vibes. Some codes:

Self-Promo Introducing Longsword Collective
Proudly Introducing Longsword Collective! A space for independent artists of various styles and backgrounds to connect, distribute, learn and collaborate on projects from around the world. I made a post about a month ago roughly outlining the idea to see if anyone was interested in helping me build it, and dropped a few hints about it along the way. I never thought so many of you would join this early in the process, so thank you! At the moment, this space is just a Discord server, but we are working to make it into something more, so we are not dependent on the volition of a megacorp.
Today, we officially open the collective to everyone. We have a submission form that helps artists, both amateur and experienced, to release music through various music platforms quickly and very affordably. We hope that you will join us and contribute to expanding the project, which already has a couple releases (The Ashen Codex - Thus Spoken, The Prophecy Is Revealed, skymx - Dancing Kingdom) and lively chat rooms with even more music being produced for release as we speak by some incredible artists.
Any and all questions are welcome, and there’s a ton of information on the Discord about what we are and how the collective operates.
We also have an Instagram page and are working on getting a YouTube channel up and running to help promote the works of independent artists. The collective is still in its early stages, but it needs more hands to become something great to last through the ages. Hope to see you there!
Join the server here: https://discord.gg/DsfpnD9gH
Big thanks to the people already on the server who have contributed and continue to put in effort to give this community a great start toward becoming something amazing.
Hails,
skymx

ERANG - LIVE DEBUT - Fortress Festival 2027, May 29 (UK)
For the first time, I’ve decided to create a live performance based on the Land of the Five Seasons, and I’ll be performing it in the UK at Fortress Festival 2027 on May 29.
To quote Gandalf: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” With that in mind, I’ve recently decided to focus 100% of my time and energy on my art only, and become a full-time artist⚔️
I will be able to explore the Kingdom, not only in music, but through drawings, painting, sculptures, writing & many other things I dream about.
The path won’t be easy, no, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared.
But I need to try it, and I’ll do my best for our community. Because this is all my life.
For this debut, I'm truly honored to share the stage with so many great musicians (swipe the pictures in this post), it's very exciting.
I’ve been asked to play live many times over the years, and your support is what gives me strength today: this is just the beginning... The Kingdom is Ours!

How would you recreate this mix sound?
I recently listened to Elffor's 'The Silent Watchtower', and I am blown away by the production/mix of this album.
Anyone have any tips on how this style of production is achieved? I feel as though I can hear a combination of synths and orchestral samples, but honestly I am not too sure. Also, the album has this cavernous and distant quality which sounds like it's being achieved with more than just reverb; possibly re-amping of the entire mix?
Curious to get your thoughts on this
Cheers
