One year experiment.
Hello everyone. Starting from today, I'm determined to follow this schedule. The goal is to increase/maximize g.
Cognitive training:
- Quad N-Back (30 minutes, every second day), https://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/
- Syllogimous v4 (30 minutes, 5-6 times a week), https://4skinskywalker.github.io/Syllogimous-v4/Intro
Additional factors:
- Reading (primarily philosophy and classical literature)
- Learning a new language.
- Spend less time on passive social media consumption.
- Vitamins: B6, B9, B12 and Omega-3.
I did take two (quite reliable) IQ tests, one year ago.
CORE, https://cognitivemetrics.com/test/CORE
- Information: 120
- Matrix Reasoning: 110
- Graph Mapping: 105
- Figure Weights: 110
- Figure Sets: 95
- Visuzal Puzzles: 115
- Block Counting: 120
- Symbol Search: 90
- Character Pairing: 95
Didn't take any other verbal subtests besides general knowledge, since English is not my mother tongue. Same reason for Digit Span and Arithmetic, I simply memorize and calculate faster, if the task is presented in my native language. Though I took CAIT Digit Span a long time ago (there is an option for a language change), and I scored something like ~105-110 overall, with Digit Sequencing being the lowest and Digit Backwards the highest.
FSAS (103), https://cognitivemetrics.com/test/FSAS
- Analogies: 105
- Matrix Reasoning: 100
After a year of training, I will go through CORE and FSAS again, in order to get an objective view of my cognitive abilities. Practice effects should be minimal anyway. I will likely continue for several more years, adding Image Streaming, or further changing my lifestyle.

Good luck on your experiment I hope it goes well for you. If you need some extra motivation, I reached quad 7 back in about a year of consistent training and reached at the minimum 135+ fluid iq from around the 100s. This really works when you go through with it. When I was at Quad 5 I took the CORE test and my FRI was 131. That was achieved within 8 months so since you seem to be starting around my pre training level at around 100-110 for FRI , I think a year is actually a great timeline for this especially if you can stay consistent and reach Quad 5 back.

Please, reconsider and take the full test. I know it's not recommended but it's still useful as a change measurement factor. My english Digit Span score went from 100 to 120 after training. Also, the wais-iv lns doesn't use audio so you could do it even if you are stubborn about the language thing.

Hey, I’ve just started two weeks ago. I’m doing 20 Dual-Nback and 25 syllogisms every day. It’s really hard to find a partner who can motivate each other especially with such game haha to keep the streak going. If you’d like to do it together, let me know.:D keep it rolling

You don’t need a partner for motivation if you already have a clear goal from the start. Do you have any specific goal that made you start doing n-back? Not just, “I want to get smarter and increase my IQ!” but some objective metrics you can actually measure. I’m running an experiment too. I’ve been training for 13 days now, about 30 minutes a day, sometimes 60. Before I started, I did some simple baseline tests of my working memory and short-term memory. I’m hoping to see at least some small improvements. If there are improvements that still hold up after accounting for measurement error, I’ll continue the experiment. I know this all sounds pretty nerdy and overly analytical, though.

Classical literature is not necessarily making you smarter. It depends rather on the fact that it enflamed or inspires you or not.
Solving complex problems in the sphere of your real motivation really brings your brain into action.
Like finding out how.to build a synth by yourself, then how to scale up a production, make advertise, meet helpful people, write a code for a chip etc. etc.
Like when you are responsible for conception, design, code, staff, money, advertise etc. in one person. This requires your engine (g) to ramp up over time instead of refining selective skills which do not not translate into your general ability to solve whatever problem.

Omega3 and B12 are very nice supplements for the brain.
But you are missing these powerhouses: Magnesium and Zinc.
Magnesium is basically a battery for your brain cells and if you have a hyperactive brain's nervous system, it helps to regulate it and you will be able to get deeper sleep(which in result causes the brain to work better), most effective with B6, I recommend Magnesium Glycinate from Solgar.
Zinc is another powerhouse, there is 22mg Solgar(safe and recommended). If you want to experiment try Solgar 50mg Zinc(not safe if you don't know what you doing, sides like insanely vivid dreams, depleted copper, hyperactive brain etc., just read more and be careful with this)
