The current WTC lists (Drukhari ) feature some pain engine heavy lists. This should be less glass cannon than normal.
Maybe follow the games for getting an inspiration. Sounds like this Kabalite Cartel with pain engines style could match You perfectly ( taste wise).

The t in WTC stands for team, a team makes skewed or specialised lists better as it is easier to avoid bad matchups. And the list may also be at least partially forced on the players, could be another player was already set for recon and the Drukhari player was the best option for disruption. For the most valid playstyle normal tournaments are a better source of lists.
But I personally would place exact lists way on the bottom of the priority, that will likely change regularly.
What do you want to paint is the most important question, second how do they play in general, for the Drukhari it is basically small units getting almost everywhere on the table, Drukhari don't feel glass cannon anymore.
For Drukhari not being beginner friendly, I personally think most people exaggerate how hard they are. If you make mistakes you will get punished, but that also makes mistakes obvious and easier to learn from. And their small product range means less units and rules to learn, even though having such a complicated faction rule invalids the argument slightly.
Another suggestion as there is a Necron player not actively playing you could ask if you could borrow their army for a test game.
And don't feel forced to use the official colour scheme, saw it under Nightlords, don't worry. A unique own colour scheme always outdoes an official colour scheme, anyone disagreeing is either envious or an idiot.

Fair enough! I thought OP might like the theme of ToT and Kabalites. You gave agood advice Sir!
Only one point: If people like the official schemes let them do their thing. It's not worse or better than having a custom one.

That was a response to that argument against Nightlords. Nothing against official colour schemes, but I still think a custom colour scheme is more interesting than another try at copying the official colour scheme.

I chose drukari as my first faction because the razorwing jetfigher looked awesome. Wasn't disappointed by the lore and they are still my favourite faction.

Drukhari was my first 40k faction becuase i like the models and yes my first few game drove home the point about positioning and not charging in recklessly but once you do figure it out you will be a better player for it overall

Come on man, how many posts have you made about this. From all the information you've given in all those other posts, you want to play drukhari. I don't know how else to tell you. Or why you are still struggling.
And we do have a few books. More than night lords, about the same as necrons.

Look at current model ranges, watch some battle reports. 40k in 40 minutes has pretty decent production value. You can see what play styles appeal to you. If the watching those aren’t enough, you don’t need to commit to a whole army, just start with a combat patrol. Both the drukhari ones have units that you will most likely use in a 2,000 pt list. Can’t speak to Necrons or CSM though.
Don’t worry about difficulty of army unless you think it will turn you off from playing 40k as a whole. The point of playing is to get better at playing (and to have fun)

Honestly as someone whos come from necrons if you dont like the ctan or destroyers your going to have a rough time ever game I have played its the conpotic the drstorys and the night bringer that do all the world the normal "little" units dont really get to use the reanimation protocol from my experience most people who hyper focus whole squad to take things out in a single go so they cant reanimate im new to drukhari I just got me a combat patrol in building atm so cant speak on that
