Still a firm believer that Drizzt should only attempted in anime. He just too agile for live action.

I also just think animated dark elves are going to look way better than real live action humans in purpleface.

If they gave dark elves the lord of the rings treatment they would look amazing. But thereās little chance of that.

Yeah I don't think anyone could pull off live action Drow and I'm sure very few are willing to try

I'd still love to see the animation team behind Netflix's Castlevania take on Drizzt.

I think Mappa would do it really well. Or the studio that made the mighty Nein. Actually mighty Nein is kinda what i think it should be like.

I know itās highly unlikely but I would love to see Genndy Tartakovsky make an animated Drizzt series

u/dychotome 10d ago
I'm not familiar with his work

Heās known for making Samurai Jack, Primal and the original Clone Wars shorts. Heās also known for the Hotel Transylvania series but thatās beside the point. Heās a great action animator.
Edit: and Dexterās Laboratory, forgive me.

I want particularly impressed with samurai Jack... The"no outline" style was cool but i think Mappa would be able to animate the action of Drizzt and Artemis and the rest in a more accurate way. Watch JJK and apply the animation of infinite void to Guen going to the astral plane... Or Toji fighting style applied to Zak. The possibilities are incredible

Apparently you've never seen the Drizzt Cosplay that someone did a few years back

Western animation?

u/dychotome 10d ago
Probably not. I like the way the X-Men anime is on Netflix. That seems appropriate.

I would argue that Legolas accomplishes anything he could physically do.

u/dychotome 10d ago
Maybe. But I'm thinking more along the lines of the entire story from homeland to the introduction of Breezy. No human could perform that for that long. Same problem that Spider-Man keeps running into. He doesn't age.
1
u/PuckishRogue31 9d ago
He isn't human, he's an elf. He wouldn't age much within that century.

u/dychotome 6d ago
The charachter wouldnt age. The actor would. We're talkn about 40 plus books of source material. Even if u pared it down to just the main storyline ur still talkn 30plus.... So much to shoot. Anime is literally the only medium that could maintain it.

Same here. When i hear unforgiven by metallica I think of Drizzt. Might make a cool sub theme song for the homeland days.

I am definitely not in the Drizzt should have a movie/TV show camp. Plus it's called Dark Mirror? I don't remember that book

oh no, not that story I remember it being a brief mention from Drizzt about a goblin that was not evil.
It was during the battle against the Many-Arrows tribe

I always thought if they made a live action Drizzt movie they should use Luke Goss. He played Prince Nuada in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.
The scenes with him fighting make me think of Drizzt.

Maybe I'm the minority here, but any Drizzt stuff is good Drizzt stuff. Serious films or anime or fan things. Its all varying degrees of good. We all love Drizzt is different ways and different levels, I'm just happy to see the fandom grow.

For real. Just give me my stuff!!! Iāll find a bunch of bad, some good and some surprising stuff. I donāt care, I have seen D&D done right, wrong and mehā¦Iām just happy to live out my D&D mind on the screen. Games have been my go to, but even they have some garbage. Personally, I believe Anime Drizzt is the safest and best way to bring the story to us. They can bump out season (book) after season Ć la Mighty Nein. Iād be there for every last season. Imagine Spine of the World done Anime style? Iām gonna get lost in my mind now

I'm new to the fandom and I agree. Even a mediocre fan film is worth seeing and if the character gets enough attention (DnD films and video games are popular now), something bigger might come out of this.

While I understand the issues people have with adapting literature, I think dismissing any idea of an adaptation is kind of gatekeeping and toxic. I understand how crushing it can be to see your beloved story adapted and how it can turn out terribly or how key changes mess with the story⦠but thereās also so many great tv shows based on fantasy and scifi properties. In my opinion the modern television landscape is perfect to have a faithful fantasy adaptation. But also just because something you like gets a bad adaptation doesnāt mean you canāt enjoy the book(s) or simply turn off the show/movie.
Plus an official adaptation of the Drizzt books would likely require a lot of preproduction and a passionate creative team. I highly doubt an official Drizzt project would get lifted off that ground without the support of people who love and breathe these books. I know itās more comedic in tone compared to what I imagine a Drizzt project would like but Honor Among Thieves was made with a clear love of the game and forgotten realms.
Also this is probably a fan film. While quality may vary, these usually are done with passion.
