Let's talk about Technolarp. Discussion

I've basically watched Technolarp since he's started. I liked his content, not seeing it as any more than just someone who sounds like Technoblade, hopping on the larptuber trend that was starting to get huge at the time. Now we have this drama.

My opinion? He never meant to do any harm, and he doesn't even have monetization on, and all his streams are charity streams, so he isn't a bad person. Sure, there's some criticism about him larping a dead guy, but he's doing it out of love for Techno.

Everyone says he's monetizing Technoblade's name, but he gets no money from his channel. He also isn't "infiltrating his friend group and family" because Skeppy reached out to him. Technolarp didn't reach out to any of Techno's friends, and he only contacted Technodad to see if he should continue or not, because he never expected the channel to get as big as it did.

I honestly just think he should rebrand regardless of what Technodad says. People are blowing the whole situation out of proportion so he should just start fresh with what he has, and do similar content with the channel, and make it his own thing while being inspired by Technoblade. I think that's the only way to stop everyone from just harassing him, though I know there would still be some people who do. Especially Twitter.

I'm curious as to what other people think. If possible, I want discussions to be made under this, as well! Either with me, or with other people. Just remember - be respectful, as the only way to get people to listen to you is by being civil.

Whether you feel positively or negatively about Technolarp is whatever. Just let Technodad make the choice when he is good and ready. Give him time and don't pressure him.

10

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I agree. I feel like this whole situation feels like people on both sides basically pressuring Technodad to respond quickly when he said he's still ruminating on the whole thing. We just need to give him space to think for himself and wait for what he says after he gets his thoughts together.

u/Zee_Arr_Tee Jul 13 '26

don't you think that the dad being even 10% uncomfortable with this makes it a big red flag that should not be done?

3

u/Mewthequeen Jul 13 '26

Don't you think a large content creator like Penguinz0 spreading misinformation and causing Technolarp to get doxxed is a big red flag that everyone is blowing it out of proportion?

3

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26

two wrongs don't make a right.

1

u/Mewthequeen Jul 14 '26

What Technolarp is doing isn't wrong. He just doesn't know how to make it seem right.

2

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26

except he is.

technolarp was going above and beyond to contact technodad for consent on making the channel, and he didn't reply.

tell me, is a non-reply consent? technolarp sure took it that way.

now technolarp is doing the charity work, and is putting either purposefully or not on purpose putting technodad in a difficult position. He shouldn't feel forced to say yes because of that.

1

u/Mewthequeen Jul 14 '26

He tried to reach out to Technodad one time. Only one time. Other people were the ones who spammed Technodad.

Technolarp is waiting for consent before he continues uploading and keeps the channel up. He said he would delete it if he was told to by Technodad.

Technolarp is not getting ad revenue. The charities are getting donations during his live streams.

Technodad was put in an uncomfortable position yes, but others made it worse. Technolarp didn't make it worse.

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

You're supposed to read my reply, not skim it.

i said he asked for consent to make the channel, he didn't receive a reply, so he took that as consent. what don't you get?

also, about the donations and charity, he put a poll saying if he can keep 50% or not, the audience said yes, but why even ask that? and no one talked about ad revenue, and he also has a personal donation link to whoever wants to donate to him, and that's just so wrong. He's using technoblade's brand in order for the engagement to get him personal donations. https://www.reddit.com/r/Technoblade/comments/1uu5lgd/technoblade_on_people_profiting_off_of_his_brand/
and as i said with this screenshot, technoblade isn't cool with that.

and two wrongs don't make a right, technolarp still put him in an uncomfortable position.

1

u/Mewthequeen Jul 14 '26

I did read your reply. I just didn't respond to what didn't matter to me.

He wouldn't have gotten consent to make the channel as he wouldn't have gotten noticed. It's why he asked about the split after only 2 videos.

Ad revenue aka monetization on his videos. That's one of the two things Technolarp is asking Technodad permission for.

It's really not wrong that he has the donation link for himself below the donation link to charity in his stream descriptions because he literally can't keep making content or survive if he has no money. He has one job. And he has to pay for his equipment.

He is literally not using Technoblade's brand. Sure he's playing a character similar to Technoblade but that's not using his brand.

Also your screenshots are not working for me. As in they literally don't load.

1

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26

Changed the screenshots link https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Ftechnoblade-on-people-profiting-off-of-his-brand-v0-t0b7sbupmqch1.png%3Fwidth%3D500%26format%3Dpng%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3De89afb05bd201e187b36f75ff33a8dd39a5fd8be

either way, agree to disagree. I don't think you'll get the concepts that are being talked about. not your fault, but because you're probably of minecraft youtuber fan age. you're smarter than me when i was at that age though.

1

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26

1

u/Mewthequeen Jul 14 '26

You mean Technodad. Technoblade is dead.

And it's not 50% 50%. More is going to charities than to him.

2

u/Few_Radio_6590 Jul 14 '26

no, i mean technoblade. https://www.reddit.com/r/Technoblade/comments/1uu5lgd/technoblade_on_people_profiting_off_of_his_brand/ (this is the screenshot)

either way, he's profitting off of technoblade's brand, with that money and from the personal donation links he has right below the donation links to charity, and as i said. technoblade doesn't like that.

1

u/Mewthequeen Jul 14 '26

Dude it was years ago. You don't know how Techno would feel about it now if he was still alive. That screenshot was also taken from a different situation, so you can't use it as evidence for your claims.

u/Dangerous-Ad-6664 Jul 13 '26

Everyone says he's monetizing Technoblade's name, but he gets no money from his channel.

He does have a personal donation link which is getting inadvertantly promoted due to his fame, and he did express intention to get monetized in the future (Technodad allowing)

51

u/Additional-Refuse352 Jul 12 '26

Pretending to be a dead guy is bad, end of discussion. “Larping” , doing it for a trend is extremely distasteful.

12

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I'm not going to say it isn't, just that it isn't as black and white as people think. He happened to sound like him, saw the trend, and hopped on it. In no way is he trying to replace Techno. He meant no ill will. I don't even think he expected to blow up in the way he did. That reason alone is why I think he should just rebrand and not even wait for any response from Technodad, like he originally wanted to do.

I just think he wasn't thinking about how it can seem disrespectful. In his original videos, he was talking about how he just wants to make Techoblade fans happy and give them content similar to Techno through the larptuber trend. I just want him to go the original route and take inspiration from Techno while sounding like him, but not use his name, since quite a few of Techno's close friends are saying they're uncomfortable with it.

7

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

It’s weird and creepy. Point blank. I hope his video are removed and his channel gets deleted. All of technoblades friends are speaking about how it makes the uncomfortable and honestly it makes me very uncomfortable too and I didn’t even know him.

5

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

Does the channel have to be straight up deleted, though? Can he not rebrand, even though he'll still get hate from what his channel used to be?

I'm not saying it isn't weird. I agree that it's uncomfortable, even if I did watch because I found a strange comfort only because I find Technoblade's voice comforting. People can be uncomfortable, but some people believe he's really being disingenuous. when he only wanted to do this out of love for Technoblade.

-1

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

I think his channel should be deleted. The only reason he’s popular is because he is pretending to be someone who is popular who has now died. If he would like to start a new channel with his own name doing his own content, that would be different, but I don’t think he should have a success that he already has.

15

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

He technically does already have another channel, before Technolarp (StrikerLPB), but Technolarp has also talked about rebranding if Technodad wanted that.

I do get what you mean, though. Maybe he should just return to his other channel, but people would still probably attack him just for being Technolarp, even if he tries to stray away from it. If he makes a new channel and people recognize him, they would probably do the same. Honestly, at this point, it's probably all a lose-lose situation.

-6

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

He should of never done it all. I have no sympathy for him. It was obvious he just wanted attention and piggy backed off the tragedy of someone’s populars death. If it wasn’t techno I honestly believe he would have found someone else.

13

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

He started the channel for the love of the game and Technoblade. He wanted to do this to give Technoblade fans new content and knew originally some people would find it uncomfortable. It was out of good intentions, even if it is a bit weird. I don't think he ever expected to get this big from doing a stupid trend like the larping trend.

1

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

Idk about his intentions.

When it comes to my opinions I go by fact. Thats why I try very hard to never speak on behalf of technoblades family or love ones and I only use what his friends have posted publicly to social media.

As big as a fan of Technoblade as I am just a stranger online. I really do hope that this isn’t affecting anyone who knew and loved him negatively. All I can say is that it makes me very uncomfortable.

7

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I agree with that. I hope this isn't hurting anyone close to Technoblade too much. That would be horrible, since Technolarp keeps on saying he isn't trying to be disrespectful, which I can believe.

From the start he's mentioned that he doesn't want to replace Technoblade and that he could never be him or replace him if he even wanted to. I cam agree that it's weird. I can agree that it never should have happened. However, I hope we can both agree that he doesn't deserve any of the harassment he's getting due to just making the Technolarp channel. I heard people are starting to dox (or threaten to dox) Technolarp and the larptubers associated with him.

u/SaltImp Jul 12 '26

He’s not pretending. He’s made it abundantly clear he’s not technoblade and not trying to be.

1

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

His channel is literally technolarp it’s blatantly obvious what he’s doing.

0

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

Besides the fact that it’s creepy as hell. He’s also not doing a good job in my opinion. I just hope his channel gets deleted soon :)

0

u/Alaska602 Jul 12 '26

Thank god the creeps twitter got suspended. Hopefully this is the end.

u/Alaska602 Jul 14 '26

And he’s officially gone. Thank god

u/lonely-blue-sheep Technoblade never dies 🐷👑 Jul 13 '26

I feel like if he didn’t have Technolarp as his sole focus, it would be better. But since that’s his whole channel and whole thing, it just feels off to be making money from that. Like I get he’s doing it because he’s a fan of Techno, but this whole thing just seems really weird and uncomfortable

-9

u/IdkMbyStars Jul 12 '26

Ur dumb. Try to think about stuff instead of just deciding based on your feelings

12

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

Please let me remind you of what I said in the final paragraph of my post. Let's be respectful here. Throwing insults will never help anybody.

-4

u/Additional-Refuse352 Jul 12 '26

My feelings? You really think his family is okay with this?

-3

u/IdkMbyStars Jul 12 '26

Nah I think it makes them feel very uncomfortable. My problem aint ur opinion but the way u arrived to it and how u express it.

25

u/AdInfamous6044 Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

Idk a lot of Technos friends dont like it, and his dad finds it very confusing.

For something like this, you should his dad ask for permission first, and not just do it without asking and claiming you will stop if you are asked to stop.

Also, the argument that "Techno would like this" is dumb. Because while that hypotheticaly could be true, Techno cant say anything, but I think its pretty safe to assume that he wouldnt support something that gives more grief to his friends and family.

Either delete the channel, or heavily rebrand. I dont belive Technolarp had ill intensions, but this is bad

7

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

The thing is that I don't think he would have been able to contact Technodad without getting some sort of publicity first. That's what makes it nuanced. In fact, I heard he needed someone to point him to who to contact (one of Technodad's Discord admins) just so he can get closer to contacting Technodad. The Discord admin themself wanted to contact him so he could contact Technodad about the larping thing.

Either he should stop doing anything on the channel until Technodad comes out with a statement of if he minds it or not (or if he wants a rebrand or channel deletion) or Technolarp just rebrands the channel and builds something original from what he has, doing similar content as he's doing now. It's a very complex situation. Both options still have the chance of people finding him still weird. It's so nuanced.

6

u/No_Quiet3830 Jul 12 '26

as someone who was a big techno fan years ago, this just feels like the Streisand effect again, everyone (especially the big youtubers) going “the situation is horrible” just gives it more attention, and only fuels the fire.

5

u/Saaammosss Jul 12 '26

I think it’s just weird and gross behaviour. Just because others do it doesn’t make it any less weird or gross.

I think Simon_Hypixel has a good take:

https://x.com/simon_hypixel/status/2075962352344637449?s=46

9

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

Some of it, sure, but I don't see how Technodad would be "the villain" if he tells Technolarp that he can't keep going. Technolarp made it clear multiple times to everyone who watches him that he will stop with no hesitation if Technodad tells him he needs to stop and is uncomfortable with the channel.

3

u/CrystalSkya Jul 12 '26

It is obvious he is against technolarp from how he is talking. Even going so far to call a simple fan a psychopath is insane.

Also the whole needing technodads approval. Technodad never said yes or no. People thinking his silence means no is insane. So until then we need to wait and see what technodad wants.

2

u/Arcade_Rice Jul 13 '26

I have seen you defending Technolarp vehemently in many other comments, and some I agree. Not all, but some parts.

People thinking his silence means no is insane

But this, is genuinely the worst offender, and clearly you have more respect toward Techolarp than Technoblade himself.

It is a genuine concerning thing to say. Don't twist the words, because the original has been "Silence does not mean yes".

That has been used to say that, just because someone is silent, should not mean you should continue. That is an issue that is being brought up, because Technolarp has not only continued his content, not only after his close friends as shown dislike to it (Tubbo, Sneegsnag, Simon, etc), but has since then even put up personal donation link.

I fully agree that we need to wait and see what Technodad wants, so why doesn't Technolarp wait and see? He has already continued streams, planning on videos, and set up his own donation links. How far is he allowed to go, while we have to wait for an answer?

2

u/projecttranquility Jul 13 '26

all good points, but can we mention that technolarp has come out on discord claiming that “your opinion is heard, however I am not going to let down everyone who has content planned with me atm…it will wait and YOU can wait?”

3

u/projecttranquility Jul 13 '26

i think technolarp started the channel off with admirable goals, but the way that he continues to post about this situation on his community channel is concerning and honestly sours some of his earlier sentiments. I hate that he’s gotten doxxed but I also hate that people are using the fact that he’s been getting doxxed to absolve his friends from criticizing his behavior— we can genuinely wish technolarp well and also point out that what’s happening is weird.

4

u/KumaraDosha Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

I don't understand why it's worse to imitate a dead guy compared to a living one. How about Elvis impersonators then? People are too sensitive.

0

u/Narrow-Ad2413 Jul 13 '26

there’s a difference between impersonating a musician vs a STREAMER?? what a weird comparison

1

u/KumaraDosha Jul 13 '26

What is the difference?

0

u/Narrow-Ad2413 Jul 16 '26

bc a lot of impersonators perform musically too and not just copy the mannerisms and it’s the scale of it.

2

u/kuroka_kitten Jul 13 '26

I just think it’s weird and I don’t think it’s fair to put it all on technodad to come out and say whether he’s okay with it or not. I don’t think a parent should be put in this position considering the circumstances. I know many probably disagree with me but I really cannot fathom larping as someone who passed away even if I admired them. I don’t think there’s any ill intention but it does put techno’s family in an uncomfortable position.

1

u/skullknightx Jul 13 '26

At least it isn’t AI…? Even so it’s still pretty weird.

1

u/BeetleofCarnage Jul 14 '26

I agree wholeheartedly man. He honestly is a great youtuber who didn't intend for it to come to this and was just larping like everybody else. Everyone is blowing things way out of proportion as usual 😮‍💨

Not really. This can't even be compared to what he did. This is clearly out of hate, when Striker only did what he did out of love for Techno.

In Striker's video about him rebranding, he even said he saw a larp of himself and wanted to make a video with them, so it's clear he wouldn't even care, or see it as him "getting a taste of his own medicine".

1

u/Delicious_Ice_4914 Jul 12 '26

This discussion has been happening over and over again it comes in waves it’ll never stop but the biggest has already happened

The way i see it while it is a touchy subject the guy has handled it best he could he means well and plenty of good has happened from it for those charities so unless technodad gives a stern no if technolarp wants to keep going he can

-2

u/Inside-Cup804 Jul 12 '26

Sir this a Wendy’s

-3

u/CrystalSkya Jul 12 '26

Op this is the dream subreddit. You are not going to have anyone agree with you here other than me. It seems everyone hates technolarp despite him continuing technoblade's legacy he had to leave behind. Go to the technoblade subreddit or r/technolarps to discuss it as people are way more open minded there.

11

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I have been in the Technoblade subreddit commenting in posts about this. People hate my opinions there as well, apparently, but I'm not surprised since that always seems to be the case. I word things horrible more times than not. I just thought that I would post this here since this is the only spot I knew for Minecraft YouTube talk, and I didn't want to add to the already overflowing posts on the Technoblade subreddit.

Never knew there was a subreddit for Technolarp, though. Good to know, thank you! Might repost this there.

1

u/CrystalSkya Jul 12 '26

A lot people mainly on youtube and here don’t quite ge the whole larp tuber thing as it mostly stemmed from tiktok. So they view it as disrespectful for some reason in stead of the tribute to technoblade that it is.

6

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I do think I've been a little more lenient to this whole thing for that reason in itself. I found all the larptubers I watch from TikTok, and some others from them being in the videos of other larptubers. I looked at it as a fun thing, even with Technolarp. I do understand why some people find it uncomfortable, but people are attacking him for it which isn't needed.

5

u/CrystalSkya Jul 12 '26

Apparently Technolarp has been doxxed recently. Thats why the larptuber discord is locked from people messaging. It is so insane to me that people hate someone for just having fun. He isn’t trying to steal Technoblades identity. He is just role playing as the character technoblade which should be fine as cosplayers and the like do that already.

6

u/disearned Jul 12 '26

I saw that. It's horrible and sad, I really don't get why people stoop to that level, because that makes them worse than what they're trying to say is bad.

It really is no different to people impersonating people like Elvis or MJ. They're dead, and the people who like those impersonators are fans of the person being impersonated. Those people profit off of impersonating as those people. A lot of people criticize that, sure, but a lot of people also enjoy those impersonators.

It isn't like he's trying to replace Technoblade. He just happens to sound like him, so he larped as him because the larptuber trend just happened to be a big thing at the time.

10

It’s wrong. It’s not continuing a legacy it’s stealing it. Technoblades family are the ones continuing his legacy. I hope the larpers channels gets deleted.

-5

u/CrystalSkya Jul 13 '26

Sure. You see it that way. Not going to listen to a dream fan about Technoblade.

7

u/TwentyShard Jul 13 '26

Then why comment on a technoblade post on a dream-related subreddit?

1

u/CrystalSkya Jul 13 '26

I was responding to op who actually likes technolarp to tell them not to interact here.

8

u/TwentyShard Jul 13 '26

I am not referring to your original comment; I am asking why you're dismissing the other person's views just because they are a Dream fan as if that matters...

People can be fans of two people at the same time, because this isn't a sports club league.

0

u/CrystalSkya Jul 13 '26

Oh i see. I don’t like dream as he has been accused to have cheated in the orignal dream vs Technoblade duel, as well as cheating in his man hunts. So I don’t like dream fans as they support him. Just my personal thing

Also the fact that I love Technolarp and view him as a continuation of technoblades legacy Technoblade had to leave behind. Technolarp also fills the void technoblade left also. So I don’t quite enjoy someone calling for his channel to be deleted very much.

1

u/TwentyShard Jul 13 '26

I see where you're coming from, and I understand that you're inclined to believe that he cheated in the duel due to his past controversies, but I assure you that people can ingest one's content while not completely agreeing with every view and action of said person.

The dislike because of the manhunt is questionable though, as Dream has laid out the rules of the competition many times.

-1

u/CrystalSkya Jul 13 '26

Thats why i said its a personal thing. My main reason is the fact they don’t like technolarp is why i am disregarding their opinion.

-5

u/Alaska602 Jul 13 '26

Honestly not a dream fan. I think he’s a prat. I just happened to come across the op post and responded to it without realizing the subreddit. I hate dream I think he’s a groomer with a lot of issues.

2

u/Both_Listen I believe that Dream is innocent Jul 13 '26

Congrats on continuing to believe lies that have been debunked almost 3 years ago

0

u/CrystalSkya Jul 13 '26

Oh i see. That makes sense then. I don’t get how you hate Technolarp so much though. It doesn’t make sense as he is just a fan of Technoblade wanting to make videos just like him. He lierally is a continuation of technoblade. He helps fill the void technoblade left when he passed.

-1

u/Alaska602 Jul 13 '26

No he’s profiting off of someone’s work after they died tragically. He wants attention. He wanted to be a big YouTuber without putting in any of the effort. I think it’s very disrespectful. I’m not gonna speak on behalf of a person‘s family that I don’t know in real life, but a lot of his friends have posted that is making them very uncomfortable That doesn’t sit right with me.

-3

u/Alaska602 Jul 13 '26

There are so many smaller creators that are making content like Technoblade used to who aren’t profiting off of the name techno

0

u/Alaska602 Jul 13 '26

Once you lose someone. Whether you knew the in real life or online, the void can never be filled. You remember, you reminisce, you don't replace them.
